  1. Open the garage door, put a scrap piece of wood on the work bench turn on rock 95 and start slicin' EDIT: Sorry the above is what I do. Is it the smell that bothers you or just the mess? Can't you just lay some newspapers on a kitchen table? Put a bowl of water for rinsing and a garbage bag beside you. As soon as you're done toss the newspapaer in the bag and chuck it down your garbage chute. I find its more of a mess to batter and cook them then to clean them lol.
  2. They make 3" jerkbaits with 3 treble hooks? Sounds like a recipe for a wounded thumb. If you don't have one, pick up a lip gripper as mentioned above (pike gear). Would pretty much solve your problem.
  3. That's a pretty bold question to ask the day before the last long weekend of the summer. I think the further north you're willing to drive (like North Bay to Subury), the more open people get for their crown land spots but within 2hrs from TO is pretty tight sealed I think from everyone. I'm sure if you made a few calls or checked online you'll fine some campsites still available. Looks like there are open tent spots available at the KOA in Parry Sound. There are boat launches around, one just a minute down the road and a beach a little further, plus a pool. That's assuming you don't mind a freight train whaling the horn close by a couple times a night LOL! Also, maybe check Sibbald Point PP, you got boat launch for simcoe and a big beach for the ladies.
  4. Me too, that's why this is my basement below - Wall to wall HD theater room haha. Bluray in 7.1 surround on 113" screen sure beats a theater
  5. So a few weeks ago I was on a camping/fishing trip with my buddy, we had all our camping gear on the boat and were heading home when the fish finder went off. So I dropped down a jig and landed a laker on the go . I threw it in the live well and took it home. This was late on a Sunday and after unloading the gear at home I was pretty tired so I ended up just bagging the fish and tossed it in the deep freezer in the garage. I've never done that before, as I've always cleaned them before storing. I was thinking of thawing it in some cold water one morning and check it throughout the day. Once it's partially thawed I'd clean it. Do you think the meat would be tainted or fine?
  6. My boy turns 3 on the 19th and our 2nd boy is coming in October. Due dates are just a ballpark, they'll induce if it goes too long. Hope it's a quick labour and best of luck with the nights over the next couple of months.
  7. Bass Lake in Orillia? There was a bunch of perch on the south side when I went a few years ago, but they were all diseased with black dots covering them. I fished little lake a couple weeks ago and the water levels were just terrible as Misfish said. The golf courses surrounding it have tapped in to it for their water supply I believe.
  8. Man that would be a gruesome job unhooking a mouse from a muskie or pike.
  9. Not sure about the hotel but it's very easy to get tickets at the box office. Last night I dropped my wife & kid off at her sister's condo which is only 2 blocks away from Roger's Centre. I looked at the clock and it was 7PM. I'm from Barrie so I only get to a couple games a year so I decided to walk over and took in the game (yes by myself, I'm a bit of a diehard). You can pretty much get any seats you want as long as you got the money and you don't have to pay the high convenience fees of ticketmaster. There are scalpers everywhere if you have cash although might not look good in front of your mom buying from the corner dude.
  10. I'd say a weedless spoon. You can cover a lot more water since they cast a mile and you most likely aren't going to lose it. They generally stay high in the water, just keep the rod tip up as it approaches the shore. I've caught several pike with them in thick weeds with a medium heavy rod.
  11. Everybody who doesn't fish who try to tell you how they saw someone catch a bass/perch/guppy that was "I kid you not" this big |---------------------------| and they hold their arms out 3' a part.
  12. Took my son to the playground Monday evening at the centennial beach. There was what looked to be blown in ice that extended probably 60-70' out from the shoreline.
  13. Thanks, that was a great & hilarious read and by all means true. While I agree Toronto has one of the biggest fanbase in the league, the fans don't do the team any favours by spending the $ they do for the product they get. From merchandise to tickets, leaf fans have to break away from their stubborn ways and not give them more $ then they deserve. They are only "Canada's team" by geographic location and being an original 6. It's Canada's team because it's Toronto, the most populated city in Canada. Aside from that, it's run by Americans and played by foreigners (Unless 'call up Kadri' counts). It's funded by blinded rich folks who feel the ACC is a good place to either show off their latest Armani suit or host a business meeting all the while being waited on for overpriced drinks. I've had the displeasure of watching the Leafs fail all my life. I've been to dozens of games, tickets given to me each year but in 2008, I remember just sitting there in the golds surrounded by guys in suits in every direction not caring about anything on the ice. It irritated me to the point that I have no desire to go anymore, I'd rather be at an OHL game any day of the week. I'd bet money that when the Leafs play in Buffalo or Ottawa there is just as many if not more Leaf jerseys in the crowds then at the ACC. It's sad, the real fans deserve to be treated better, both on the ice and in their own building. I go to a few Barrie Colts games each year and have a blast every time. OHL is a different breed and a lot more for fun, not to mention every fan cares about the team on the ice.
  14. I've been with PC Financial for several years now as my main personal account. I still have a shared TD account with my wife for the mortgage but for all regular day purchases PC is the way to go. I do all of my banking online, their phone service is great and I've had no problems walking in to zehrs to replace a card. Not to mention basically no fees for anything and I collect points for free groceries.
  15. 2nd video is pretty amazing, first video I would crap my pants as a passenger. Come to think of it I'd probably crap my pants in the 2nd one as well but enjoy it more.
  16. They probably accidentally hit medium instead of small on the cashier, it happens. I'm not defending anyone just saying drive-thrus make mistakes and I'm sure they don't have weekly team pep talks to tell their grunt workers to "accidentally" hit medium on people routinely to make more money.
  17. I'd suggest going to canadian tire (or bass pro, walmart even) and pick yourself up a Rapala X-Rap Slashbait and a regular Spinnerbait. Spinnerbait Such as this: http://www.basspro.com/Booyah-Counter-Strike-Spinnerbaits-Tandem-Blade/product/71182/-1221858 Just get a 1/4oz or 3/8oz in white or green/white. This you just cast out and generally just retrieve slow or quick. This is probably the easiest lure to start off with when targeting other species than panfish. Cast retrieve and it won't get hooked up too often in weeds making it a good shore fishing option and also lets you cover a lot of water quickly in a boat. X-Rap http://www.basspro.com/Rapala-XRap-Xtreme-Action-Slashbait/product/57968/-1050837 If you want to have a bit more fun with fishing I'd suggest picking up an x-rap, just the silver coloured one 4" long. There are several techniques to fish it, of course you can just cast it out and slowly retrieve, or practice casting it out and give it a "jerk" than real in the slack, repeat, repeat, etc. This one will end up making you invest a lot of $ in to gear, careful lol. Those will get you targeting bass quickly and the odd pike.
  18. He's basically saying you were disappointed catching small perch. Did you want to catch bass? If you were catching small panfish odds are you were unknowingly targeting them. Were you using worms on a hook?
  19. From boaterexam.com Q. Who needs the Pleasure Craft Operator Card and when? A. All operators of powered watercraft used for recreational purposes within Canada require the card as of September 15 2009. As of September 15, 2009 all boaters are required to have the Pleasure Craft Operator Card in order to operate a powered watercraft. There is no grandfather clause or age exemption – this law applies to all boaters. Powered watercraft includes watercraft fitted with any size motor — even an electric trolling motor.
  20. That's just fantastic, your reports always make me want to get out!
  21. we need a sticky phone thread LOL - this is a weekly topic
  22. I've taking them home a couple of times (All about the size in the pic) and both times had black specs throughout the meat. Is this normal in rock bass? Seemed like a parasite to me, both came from different lakes with same results.
