  1. Raccoons are everywhere in the GTA and everytime I see one I replay the music in my head from the raccoon scenes from the movie The Great Outdoors lol.
  2. Always try to push one out before I hit any sort of main lake so I'm good for the day. If I'm on a weekend fishing/camping trip just hit a shore.
  3. Tried SMB but for whatever reason (probably my cooking) it tasted very greasy. The one time I cut in to a LMB it had grubs in them and decided there are a lot better options for a feed so I don't bother with bass anymore. Was in Temagami on the weekend and grilled walleye over the fire with a little spice around midnight. Was delicious. Not worth doing a report but here's a pic or two.
  4. Oh that would be perfect, I'll have to go searching more. Thz
  5. I use a trolling motor on my SportsPal canoe and I'd like to have a removable 12v socket for it. I go island camping a couple times a year and it'd be nice to blow up an air mattress with the battery or charge a phone. I know I can buy the minnkota battery box but figure I can save some $ and do a DIY project. Anyone done that? Things to know?
  6. Chippawa Creek? I haven't personally been there but I think there's river side campgrounds, should be close to your way. Look for non-serviced ones if you want more privacy. Brother in law said he use to go there.
  7. I use this one: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0084EG224/ref=pe_3034960_236394800_TE_dp_1 I like it but I find it a little bulky. It's well made though.
  8. Man you are dedicated. Good on ya, I said nope to Simcoe, hit another spot and struck out :/ Love your reports, I logged in expecting one from you haha.
  9. Sounds like I need to relocate to Finland.
  10. You should be able to return that or at least get it fixed.
  11. Buy those and regular worms and do a side by test. Regardless too steep for my budget. I'll take the 3.50 dozen worms in the vending machine here lol.
  12. I've only fished for crappie a handful of times in the Holland but I remember having most success with a small tube jig, 12" below a float. You definitely need your bait above them.
  13. I've had SMB but thought it was pretty bad to be honest. However, I'm sure it was the new batter I used as it tasted very greasy which threw me off. I prefer not frying fish which I haven't done with bass so I should probably give it another chance before saying it's bad. The thing is, there is usually better fish to be had for cooking. Is there pike where you're going? If so keep the hammer handles, take out the Y bones and they are as good tasting as walleye imo.
  14. Well I can be lazy, sleep in and watch TV on a Sunday or have a trolling motor and be lazy while catching fish lol
  15. I hit Simcoe out of Barrie today. Was on the water at 6am. Caught 4 Smallies biggest was 4.5 lbs Also got my personal best 13" perch, hit a big spinner bait thought I had a bass lol. For size comparison: Also bumped in to Misfish on the water and had a nice chitchat about his 5 lakes in 5 days trip report. Awesome guy. Cheers
  16. I don't fish hard rain but I find overcast with a light rain on and off is a great day to be fishing, I find the fish are more active and there are less boats on the water.
  17. Dude gives it full throttle, the police boat is active in the marina and doesn't stop him? I've gone down to the shore 3x this year, twice on Saturdays and both times he was there zipping every hour out right close to shore not using the main bay. I'd say within 30' from shoreline.
  18. People have some nerve, that would piss me right off to no end. I'd at least have to say hey bud you're a little too close for comfort. Do you mind? If you ever go shore fishing around Barrie's waterfront on a weekend, there's always this old jerk who hops on his Seadoo from the marina and burns it within 10' from the shore all the way down right on top of everyone's bait at full blast, then shoots right back to the docks. He does this about once every hour all day and just to be a jerk.
  19. I've never fished them but have family in Owen Sound. If you're driving from Oakville to Tobermory, boating to Flowerpot, sight seeing, afternoon fishing, driving back to Owen Sound you will sleep well my friend! I think I'm starting to get old lol. Eat your wheaties!
  20. For me, the point of fishing is to get away from people, drama & stress. I really don't see the joy of pissing off others to land a few but to each their own.
  21. Wow, that's hard to hear. I hope they are doing well and not traumatized. How old are the kids?
