  1. I'd second Peter @ cooksbayfishingboard.com. I've never rented a boat from him but I have used his ice huts and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good guy.
  2. My dog Nola is going on 6 years old, she has a lot of health problems and is now growling at my son as he crawls around the house (he's 11 months). I love her but my son is the most important thing in my life and I have to protect him. Not sure what I'm doing to do with her yet. She's a cutie though with a lot of bark in her:
  3. Canned food should be able to last a minimum of 1 year on the shelf unopened, most I think would last 2 or 3. So I don't really see the purpose in freezing it. The high acidic sauces like ketchup/bbq sauce should last a few months in the fridge after being opened but I'm not sure about freezing them. Since the ice storm in quebec in the 90s my mom keeps a healthy portion of canned food in the basement for that just in case winter.
  4. holy jeez, that one looks like it has a mouth from a dinosaur lol.
  5. I don't think I would've changed my career path (Web Developer, been in business for 7 years). I'm married with an 11 month old, we have a dog and I work from home in a new house. I can't complain about my life, it's something I've always wanted and most people dream of having. However, I wish I had enjoyed the outdoors at a younger age. I appreciate it so much now and I definitely would've settled in further north than here in Barrie since my commute to work is about a 60' walk. Live and learn I guess. Wife is happy here and the neighbourhood is filled with toddlers. Maybe in 20 years when he's off to college I could begin dreaming of living out of a cottage lol.
  6. That's a real beauty, a keeper for sure. I landed my trophy nearly 11 months ago. They grow up fast, take lots of pics and cherish the memories.
  7. I have CAA, it's saved me numerous times and I wouldn't pay more for On Star. It's pros vs cons really, but they've been great hands down. Even a breakdown at a back lake in Temagami, I was able to get reception on my phone and CAA sent a tow truck in and he somehow found us and got us out. On top of that, the driver dropped us off at a motel for the night. Not to get off topic but northern folks are so much nicer!
  8. I get excited everytime I see a Attawapiskat thread. Once again, thanks for sharing.
  9. Possibly to tun pts in to $, or top 10 win prizes, blah blah. There's a lot more I'm sure to it than just submit measurements. Regarding pt system I wouldn't really be able to help rank them for you except panfish being worth 0.01pt unless > 15".
  10. I've also been looking at suvs/crossovers for a while now. We only have a Pontiac G6 and the Xterra is exactly what we've been looking at. I don't have a boat or a camper (yet) but plan to have one of the two in the next 2 years so I need one to pull it and fit all my kids crap in the back lol. We have a 10 month old and I'm glad everyone here has confirmed my thoughts on it. Thanks!
  11. No I won't, I'm a web developer and since closing the office I work from home. My business expenses are very little. I don't do any marketing and hardly do any restaurant meetings. It's difficult to write a lot of off and since I don't necessary buy much except the odd piece of software or computer upgrades I don't show much GST against what I pay forward. Quotes go up because as a service company I only charged GST previously. My costs just jumped 8%.
  12. I've been a small business owner for 6 years. This HST hurts us badly. I don't do cash jobs, I'm 100% legit across the board. We pay the GST (Now HST) that we bill our clients each quarter to the Government. Put it this way, if I do $30K in sales in a 3 month period I have to write a GST cheque for $1500 to the Government of what we invoiced out, not collected. Now we have to pay $3900 on the same sales. Basically without a cushion of money in the bank it makes it difficult for small business to make these payments on time. On top of that our quotes now are obviously higher unless we lower our own cost to balance it out to the customer. It's a lose lose for my business and I don't see how we benefit. Just creates added stress and less profits.
  13. Carwin is 12-0 all finished in the first round and he's kept his job as an engineer. A fighter with class and brains, he'd be a much better champion imo. Carwin in first round, although it's always exciting to see what Brock has in store. Should be an outstanding win for either. I just hope this fight doesn't make it to the judges.
  14. I've never been a fan of soccer, infact up until this tournament I had never seen a full soccer game in my life. But thanks to some great streaming of the games on CBC.ca I've been watching most games monday-friday while working. It's actually become a bit of an addiction and I've finally understood most (if not all) of the rules of the game. These guys are true athletes, albeit some are very disrepectful to the game itself. I couldn't imagine running for 90min+ with only a short break inbetween.
  15. Welcome! I just started fishing regularly a couple summers ago myself. This community immediately became part of my daily routine. I wouldn't have gained half my knowledge so quick thanks to everyone here.
  16. You can get that with Rogers as well, it's called "My 5" I think. I've had a Blackberry since the old 7200 models and currently have the Bold. Having a real QWERTY keyboard makes typing that much better in my opinion. THe browser on the bold is also heavily improved over all other BB models, it displays sites relatively the same as you'd get with a computer browser. It also has wi-fi, so hooking it to your own wireless network makes browsing much quicker. Blackberry's currently don't support Flash though, but that shouldn't make or break your decision.
  17. I definitely agree, my buddy describes it as being like Christmas morning for us when we're loading up for a trip. You'll plan weeks if not months in advance, scatter the web for info on the lake, and hit the tackle shops to load up on some new lures (even though you'll throw them each 5 times and go back to your 'lucky' lures). It's definitely a feeling of a roadtrip and it can meet anyones budget with proper planning.
  18. I think the G20 closures won't begin until next Thursday. So you should be fine, regular crappy Toronto driving weekend.
  19. Fished it many times, never had a walleye on.
  20. 52 years ago, wow congrats! I'm on the big number 2 in August although we've been living with each other for 7.
  21. Another vote for googone although you still gotta put some elbow grease in to it.
  22. 88 & 27 - My favourite number & and my age (no I'm not 88 lol)
  23. Sitting at my in-laws, leaving tomorrow night to Owen Sound.
  24. I'd say find a stream in to the lake and fish that area. On a windy day fish the shoreline the wind is blowing in to, they should be feeding on blown in baitfish. Good luck.
