  1. If I bought my wife a snowblower for xmas she'd return my gifts prompto.
  2. Costco has a pop out shelter (At least the one in barrie does). http://www.costco.ca/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=10341859&whse=BCCA&Ne=4000000&eCat=BCCA|111&N=4010198&Mo=19&No=19&Nr=P_CatalogName:BCCA&cat=22211&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-CA&Sp=C&topnav= It's blue coloured though but looks like that (The smaller version @ $179.99).
  3. Better by what standard? They both are equally terrible on the ice.
  4. I know everyone here is a lot more experienced than I am, especially when it comes to hardwater but I just can't imagine bringing my vehicle on the ice regardless of thickness. Every year I see pictures posted of cars underwater, trucks half under, etc. It's one thing if it's a 1980 piece of junk (Even then I wouldn't want to risk the cost of getting it out) but it's another when it's your family vehicle. I just can't wrap my ahead around it especially if you own a snowmobile or atv anyway. Personally I think the risk faaaaaaaaar outweighs the reward of quick travel. Am I alone on this or those who do bring the vehicle out there have you ever had any close calls?
  5. A tune comes to mind - "I walk a lonely road.. the only one that I have ever known..."
  6. I just picked up the regular base camp model today (not thermal) from bass pro. Xmas gift for myself lol. I was originally looking at the frabill refuge or clam 2000 but after testing them out I was just sold on a pop up.
  7. are 2 man huts comfortable enough for 2 people, plus equipment (bait buckets, etc.)? I always see them and think they'd be too small.
  8. 15. Bob Izumi's Real Fishing TV Show (I believe this was the first, if not the longest running fishing show)
  9. Would be interested in the same thing, is it easier to just buy replacements?
  10. lol That's excellent, thanks Shaun. Damn crisp bags.
  11. I saw Battery Heated socks last night at CT: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/Powersports/ComfortConvenience/PRD~0894688P/Nordic%252BBattery%252BHeated%252BSocks.jsp?locale=en
  12. Wow is all I can think to say. You really outdid yourself, those pictures are incredible. You really should try publishing a book of the trip. You'd already have customers here for it. I hope this type of trip is just the beginning for you. Any future plans for more trips, perhaps outside of Canada? Also, did you ever feel threatened when you were there from the bears?
  13. That's cool thanks for sharing. I like the way limeyangler does his videos (Although I'm not sure how). Seems to always be attached to his rod near the reel. Always turns out nice.
  14. Hey Guys, I got a free pass to get away this weekend from Fri-Sun so I'm looking to take advantage. My buddy are I are trying come up with a quick plan for a last minute trip. Basically looking to rent a cottage or cabin at a good fishing lake within a couple hours from Barrie. Preferably targeting walleye although really anything is good. We were kind of thinking Kawarthas although we don't know the lakes except Canal. Finding cottages open at this time of year is a bit difficult. If anyone has any ideas you could share that'd be great. It's just a little cold for camping. Cheers Gov
  15. "In a recent release from Statistics Canada on crime statistics for 2007, Greater Sudbury saw a 9.3 per cent decrease from the previous year, essentially making it the fifth safest metropolitan area (100,000 to less than 500,000 population) in Canada." http://www.northernlife.ca/News/PoliceandCourt/2008/07-21-08-crimeTOP.aspx
  16. Did a fishing trip to one of the lakes up there in the Spring. Nature is beautiful in the area, lakes in all directions too. Saw my first ever bear about 5min from the boat launch.
  17. Can't stand the show. I don't understand why someone who drives a cavalier would have to drive a 70s station wagon backwards through a 7' wide track for a km. Most people would be hitting over their hubcaps as well. Also, anyone who's < 20 shouldn't be on the show, they are there for camera time.
  18. I got an automated message last night @ 8:03PM from the current mayor here looking to get reelected. Is that not illegal? I thought automated phone calls & telemarketing could only be until 6PM on weekends.
  19. ^^ This. I primarily fish local waters and if I pick up tips around here that's bonus. If I'm going to a new body of water (Sometimes from a fishing trip, camping trip, etc.) I'll use the search function here first and see if there's posted info about the lake.
  20. You should probably read a book first before asking these types of questions. At least gain some knowledge on fishing Pike first. Different times of year, different bodies of water & different weather conditions all play a role with what types of lures to be throwing. I guess a generic response for pike could be 50lb power pro, and Rapala HJ14.
  21. I started fishing regularly just a few years ago after moving to Barrie. Just started doing some searching to gain knowledge. Books can teach techniques but learning about Ontario fishing is best done here.
  22. Went perch fishing yesterday from the shore. I used worms on 1/16th jigs (on dropshot) which always works the best for me. I also mixed it up with artificials for kicks & giggles but the action certainly slowed down. Small crappy tubes tend to bring in larger perch I find, tipped with a very small piece of worm. I caught about 15 perch yesterday, 4 gobies (all killed, what's with these ugly things?), 2 bluegills, baby smallmouth, & 3 rock bass. Kept 8 perch for the pan tonight.
