West or Southwest can be brutal, you don't need to travel nearly as far out as other Ports to get into deeper water.

Caught a 9mm glock off the pier at Port Dalhousie, it was missing the clip and had been in the lake for quite awhile....The funny thing was some lady called the police and when they showed up it was like the bomb squad, pushing people back as they crept up on it and stuffed in a bag.hahahahaha

Carp invasion fear causes states to sue
canadadude replied to splashhopper's topic in General Discussion
Another welcome outcome much like the Sea Lamprey.Typical of the Obama administration it takes that idiot 4hrs to decide what pair of pants to put on in the morning. This Asian carp deal is just sad and pathetic,it was so easy to stop this threat. -
That dosn't work they replace GL2's with GL2's, they won't replace it with a GLX they replace with thes same product

Another 40 lb from Lake - Year of the PIGS
canadadude replied to siwash's topic in General Discussion
New York State has a different view, natural reproduction of Chinnok comprises up to 70% of the returns on the Salmon River. Hence they have scaled back there anual stocking to 1.7 million fish.Atlantics are way more of a put and take fishery then the Pacifics The biggest factor to the demise of the Huron fishery is the colapse of the baitfish populations. One theory out there is that when stocking Salmon was done no attention was given to natural reproduction hence an overpopulation of salmon contributed to the baitfish colapse. This is one reason natural reproduction of pacific salmon in Lake Ontario is being closely studied to prevent a baitfish colapse -
The back drift can be really good for walleye at night this time of year, just anchor off shore or drift. I've gone up to the power dams in a boat that size when I was younger but it's a crazy ride, I prefer a 19' Lund for that trip now and it still can be a crazy ride. Now is a good time to come down launch your boat and learn the drifts if you want to take advantage of the excellent trout fishing in the winter.

I used to fish Talon quite abit years ago, friends had a cottage on the lake, mostly fished walleye and Lake Trout but did catch a few Muskie the biggest around 15lbs.I know there are some large Muskie in the lake, I got most of my Muskie incidently fishing the weeds. In front of the Dam can be good for Walleye aswell as a few shoals around the lake. The lakers will be deep right now but there around, I got most of my trout ice fishing or early spring trolling.

You will be fine fishing from Queenston down to the mouth of river, above Queenston it starts to get pretty crazy, a bigger boat is needed especially if your not to familiar with the currents. There is a good launch right at Queenston Bass, Walleye and Muskie can all be caught in the lower right now.The trouting dosn't really start up till late Oct or Nov and is good all winter.

Tiger Musky from another Kawartha Lake?

The reason for these expensive cannon balls is to reduce "blowback" when downrigging deep. The more expensive cannon balls are designed to track better and reduce the blowback effect so you can easily downrig below 80' and depths much deeper without your downrigger line trailing way behind the boat.I know there ridiculously expensive but they do work very well and if your a serious downrigger fisher, they solve alot of hassel when trolling deep.

Mercury levels increasing in popular species of Lake Erie game fish
canadadude replied to Spiel's topic in Fishing News
Lots of both in Lake Ontario......the walleye are probably using a different forage, feeding on smelt, emerald shinner and such.Lake Erie Walleye probably forage more heavilly on Gobies which could be the reason for the rise in mercury levels -
I wouldn't pay 50 cents for 100 cans of that American swill,or beer flavoured water. The only thing that crap does is make your bladder work overtime yuk!

Be carefull growing garlic, you must continue to grow garlic now every year or bad luck will haunt you. At least thats was what I was told by many Eastern European friends who were scared to plant garlic.I guess in europe garlic is considered a magical plant and they believe once you grow it,you must continue the tradition throughout your life. This is why you plant it on the first full moon in November. Anyway don't mean to scare you with some old european wives tales, your garlic looks nice, just beware and keep up the tradition now of growing some garlic every year. You will be rewarded with good luck and all the great powers that come along with garlic. You shouldn't have any problems with whearwolves or vampires either hahahaha

I agree with this post, Sportspal are probably the most stable and great for taking out the kids.If your looking for performance and good paddling there the worst. For fishing and such the Sportspals are tough to beat.

Nothing wrong with the Carolina, but those Tiara's are the Cadilacs for the Great Lakes perhaps he's found one he'll keep for awhile hahahaha.I was down in Port Dalhousie a few weeks ago and noticed that Tiara, I shoulda known lol.Looks like your doing great in your sweet new ride! I remember 1 year where representatives from the Toronto zoo came down and picked up a bunch of fish for the bears.I thought that was a good idea as did the bears

I agree with lower Steelhead limits, the 3-1 limit is adequate.I do find it hard to beleive that sportfishing is the only cause for lower returns of adult fish.Perhaps the Ganaraska is suffering from other factors ie degraded spawning areas, trout not being able to navigate the system to prime spawning areas. The Credit river stocks should increase now with the great work being done mainly for the Atlantic program, but also the Steelhead will take advantage the river rehabilitation,it's also nice that Steelhead are being transfered to proper spawning areas. It dosn't matter how many Trout are released if the fish are impeaded from spawning, I still beleive the biggest hurdle to jump concerning our Greatlakes Salmonoid populations is not overharvest but lack of access to available spawning beds. There are many other factors to consider in the success of the Salmon river trout from water quality to flows to rehablitation of spawning beds, ect.Like I said at the begining lower limits may help, but alot of other factors need to be addressed to see a large increase in Steelhead population. On another note I think the Pen rearing practices for both salmon & trout our American neighbours are doing has drasticly increased there return rates. This maybe having a dramatic effect on returns in Ontario waters since American straglers are not finding rivers in Ontario to spawn.
