As others have said, let that one go... I picked up my 5" Stanton for $123 CAD including shipping from Great Britan off of Ebay, haven't done a thing to her and she runs great! Just keep your eyes open and you may find a good deal. Burt

Ditto here... I prefer cooking over lump. It gets addictive really..... now I have two Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers, an 18.5" Weber Kettle, and a Weber Performer... Burt

Check out the Broil King grills. For your price range you may be interested in the Sovereign 70, includes rear rotissery burner also. http://www.barbecuesgalore.ca/cooking.bpsx?CookingID=8 Made in Waterloo. I have always had good performance and longevity from the Broil King grills. Burt

What smoker did you buy? I use the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, this is by far the best bullet smoker you can get. Depending on what type you have, this is a fantastic recipie for a charcoal fired bullet smoker. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/salmon1.html Burt

Thats why white jigs work well, shiners will work well on fresh fish in from the lake and also later on the drop backs that are looking for more meat to recouperate after spawning. Burt

Great report, looks like a productive day, lots of variety too.... But you guys seriously need to get some floater suits. Going out in this weather in a tinny with a undone lifejacket on one, and nothing on the other guy is not good. Play safe!! Burt

Sources??? This is not uncommon.... A friend works for a compressor service company and has seen a lot of the same; no-name products run on the same line as brand name (heavy duty Reynolds foil = heavy duty Equality foil).... Burt -
Lets not knock the NA brands too much. There are some good out there. Here is my story: 2001 Buick Century, bought it brand new. In 390K I replaced the brakes 4 times (myself), broke one coil spring, and a catalytic converter. Absolutely fantastic car. Never failed to start, never let me down. Sold it to a customer, and his son-in-law is still driving it! Now I drive a 2004 Buick LeSabre, 125K, done the brakes once, nothing else so far....... Burt

There should be a toll free number on the back of the card that you can call and key in your card number, it will tell you what your balance is. Burt

I have not heard of Canadore College, but from the responses it sounds like it is a good institution. If I may, I suggest you also look into a Chemical Engineering Technology - Environmental program. I took this program at Mohawk College and it is basically a 3 year plus co-op program with the first two years following a Chemical Engineering Technology program, and the third year you have the option to continue the straight chemical or take the environmental option. If you take the environmental option you basically graduate with two diplomas, one in Chemical Engineering Technology, and one in Environmental Technology. I believe this will open more options for you in the workplace. I presently work in sales for the leading company supplying chemistry to the metal finishing and electronics fields, have been there for 13 years now. Great place to work, great pay, benefits, etc., and had I just taken environmental, this would not have even been an option. http://www.mohawkcollege.ca/calendar/chemicalEngTechno.html Burt

Similar to running the line behind the boat to get rid of line twist, when ice fishing I just put on a small teardrop type jig (one that hangs vertical) and let the line down the hole until just above bottom. Put the rod on a holder and leave it for a few minutes and the twist should spin out. Burt

Sinker: At Miskwabi we usually fish around 80ft just off the bottom with minnows or jigging spoons. Maybe fishing shallower will be more productive, will have to give that a go. Irishfield: Is Glamor Lake the one directly south of Loon? We can check that out also an maybe give that a try. Tony: Never tried pink worms for lakers but I will give anything a go! The lakes I was looking at in the area are Grace, Farquhar, Straggle... they seem to have road access. We usually just walk out on Miskwabi but one of the guys is bringing a couple snowmobiles so we may have more mobility. Thanks for the replies. Burt

I agree, socks are very important. The best combo I have found are Wigwam Polypro Liner (http://www.wigwam.com/Products/Gobi-Liner_...b3-001d091bb843) socks under Wigwam "The Ice Sock" (http://www.wigwam.com/Products/The-Ice-Soc...b3-001d091bb843). Burt
