I can't see the liability here... Unless the baby was driving and the employee handed the Timbit directly to the baby lol... Obviously the mother would have taken it from the employee and made the decision to give it to her child. Pretty grimy though by Hortons! What do you think the margin off a coffee is? When minimum wage recently went up so did the coffee prices by $0.10.... How many coffees per hour do they have to sell to offset the wage increases; with that price increase, not many!! Hortons is burning us every day we buy it, thats why most days I make my own... Burt

If you plan on fishing them a bit in the tribs spring and fall, or throwing hardware off the piers I would invest in a 9-10ft med/light or light action rod that you can use with your present spinning reel. The longer rod will certainly help you with control in the tribs. over a 7ft'er. You should be able to find something around $100 that will do the trick. Burt

I may be unpopular with this response, but I like this law. I wish they did this when I was a kid, would have spared me the Player Navy Cut and Colts in the car. I am a very light smoker, and if I want one I go outside, and never in the car with my kids. Its not like they can just up and leave if they don't want to inhale the fumes, so this one makes sense to me. The girl that shares my 11 year olds locker has a parent that smokes in the house. My daughter complains of the smell of everything in the locker just from the transfer off the other girls jacket/books etc.. That girl has to live with that day in and day out. I also like the banning of smoking in restaurants, I don't like to breath it when I am eating, if I want one, I go outside..... Burt Bring on the onslaught lol....

Using marshmallows to catch steelhead....
Burtess replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
Please read my post again..... you misinterpereted what I was trying to say. Take a look at your avatar, you are holding some sort of larger catfish, I don't know if it is a channel or a blue or what, but since I don't fish them, and really don't have much knowledge of them, I don't post about them. I would not get in a debate about stripped bass caught off a beach in the salt, because I have no experience with that situation. I am far from an elitist!! And I never said I was better than anyone else. Please don't read these into my posts.... I am still new with the centerpin method. I still fish with worms... but I have fished with marshmallows and have caught many salmon this way when I was younger, and watched many people do it also. So I figured I had some experience with this topic and would comment... Burt -

You know jonnybass, aniceguy sure could have gave you some thorough answers on your other thread (Steelhead Spawning., Looking for a definitive answer), maybe if you had been willing to listen to his responses here. It seems that some (not all) of the posters cutting up the people with the lining theory have never caught a steelhead or salmon before? Isn't that worse them commenting on this topic than the "elitist float fishermen"... I use a float rod and reel (for about 3 years now) and I am no where near "elitist"... it is a lot of fun though... Burt -

Using marshmallows to catch steelhead....
Burtess replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
I have never seen a steelhead pick even an eggsac off the surface, let alone a marshmallow at any depth... marshmallow is not a "go to" bait in any steelheaders arsenal that I know of lol... I think I am done with this one anyway, it can only get worse Burt -
LOL... awsome responses..... Burt

Using marshmallows to catch steelhead....
Burtess replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
I know you didn't start the topic for this reason. But the reality of the situation must be understood. This is why I said that it is a popular topic for debate lol... Louis is a very knowledgible steelheader and he doesn't post Bull... if he posts it he knows what he is talking about.... And if the salmonoids are attacking marshmallows out of curiosity, then there must be many curious fish out there since it is a quite effective method, even if only on the male of the species... Lining refers to hooking a fish by allowing the line to run through its mouth, eventually allowing the hook to catch on or in the mouth. During the heat of the salmon run on Bronte for example. You will see many people lining the walls of the harbour, lines cast out and held tight. Most use marshmallows or earplugs for "bait". Many have seen people fish salmon this way so this is what they believe is a legit way to catch them, they are oblivious to the real method they are using to hook them. The "bait" is cast out as far as it will go, it is helpful to have the rod as close to the waters surface as possible, so to cut down on the angle of the line in relation to the lakes bottom. This allows more "fishable line" to be used. As the salmon or trout swim upstream the line is caught in their mouths.... (most salmonoids will develop a pronounced kype when ready to spawn.... this is also why most caught this way are males...) and as the continue swimming the line passes through until the hook finds its mark. I will admit, when I was a teen I used to fish like this. I used a large marshmallow threaded on a big siwash hook. Effective but wrong. At the time I thought they were eating it too..... don't fool yourselves though... Burt -
Stoty that is a kick-ass male!!! Heres my best pic of this years opener..... Burt

I will agree with aniceguy on this topic, most marshmallows (or earplugs, cig. butts, hockey cards, etc. lol...) are used at river mouths when the fish really come in and allow you to line the fish. Most fish caught this way will be hooked on the outside of the mouth, and many will be lost after the initial run. Whether the thread should be locked or not, I don't know.... usually makes for a heated discussion Burt -
That is really unfortunate to hear.... this is probably why my wife gets so nervous when I go out river fishing by myself.... Burt

This is what I believe as well, and smoking with charcoal gets to be more of an "art" form, if you can call it that. I never had the urge to just turn a unit on, set the temperature, throw in some chips or pucks, and walk away. For me it is a whole ritual of meat preparation, starting up the smoker, temperature monitoring, beer drinking... and of course the final product Temperature control with the charcoal fired bullet smokers is controlled by the amount of air you let into the unit. More air, higher temperature.... less air, lower temperature.... The Weber is the most air tight of the bullet smokers, and this allows you to accurately control the cooking temp. via the bottom vents. If you do opt for a bullet smoker, do not be tempted to buy a cheaper model, get the Weber! I have heard good things about the BGE as well, although I have never used one. They are also supposed to be VERY temperature stable, probably due to the thick and heavy clay (?) construction. Also be sure to pick up a digital meat thermometer, and a remote temperature sensor that you can set low and high alarms on... That way when you are doing a 24-30 hour smoke, you can go to bed and be sure that you are still tending the fire.... Burt

I just replied to a "smoker" thread and just turned on my grill and put on some Dearsly sausages.... but right now my mind is comsumed with "the perfect burger"... How do you make your perfect burger? Mine is a mix of lean ground beef, about 1/4 ground pork, finely chopped onion, chopped garlic, Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning, egg white to hold it together. It has to be big... A good kiaser bun, tomato, cheese (not processed, cheddar or havarti, etc...), onion, a bit of Bulls Eye Original..... ahhhhhh, heaven.... Burt

If you want to do some real "low and slow" bbq then IMO the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is the way to go. Put together with quality materials and fit and finish (this is what make the difference in temp control!) the Smokey Mountain is the unit to get of the bullet smokers. Many competition bbq have been won using it. http://virtualweberbullet.com/ Ribs and pork butts are my favorite.... Burt

Some of the mileage measurements above have me questioning how everyone is calculating it.... it has to be done consistently and over a large amount of mileage to be accurate... I drive about 75% HWY / 25% city and with my present and past rides here is how it looks: 2001 Buick Century, over 380,000Km, 8.8 L/100Km (26.7 MPG)... 2004 Buick LeSabre, so far over 180,000Km, 9.8 L/100Km (24 MPG)... I too am going with GSP... But what the heck happened to Jeff Joslin?? He supposedly signed a 3 fight contract, but after his fight with Koscheck back in Dec. 06, nothing... I was hoping he would be on this card, can't even find any info on the UFC site about him anymore, maybe they dropped him?? Burt

To make it fair, you should add up the votes for both Johnson and Evinrude as they are both owned by Bombardier Recreational Products and share similar technology... Burt
