  1. Good for yuu and good for the dog. Over the years we have had many strays stay at our house, some were united with their family and some well just stayed. It makes you feel good all over when you see both the owner and dog reunited. The smiles and tail wags are fantastic to watch.
  2. Wife used to fish with me until about 20 years ago, now health problems has made that almost impossible....thats why I have my dog Amy traveling everywhere with me. My daughter loves to fish but with her and her husband working and having a young family ( 4 and 2 ) it's almost impossible to get her out. We keep talking about doing a family trip in the next few years and will have to see what will happen.
  3. Just a heads up that the Liberals are now trying to put legislation in place that would make semi auto shotguns and rifles prohibited weapons. More information regarding this can be found in the Ontario Out of Doors edition for Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters members on page 2. This new Resolution # 47 is still being sought even after resolution #42 was withdrawn. 47 is a resolution calling for "Legislation to eliminate the personal use of automatic and semi-automatic weapons"
  4. If you fish larger bodies of water in the early spring and fall you will appreciate the top, especially on cold windy days. In summer when it's in the 30's. flat calm and the sun is beating down on you it's also nice to have the top. The boat I'm selling as well as every boat I fish out of on the Great Lakes has a top, some with a clear plastic back so you can zip up but still look out. This last season it was nice to be in my buddies Striper fishing in 40 degree weather with wind and rain all closed up inside. When we started there were about 35 to 40 boats out within 2 hours only one's left were boats with tops. I also intend to put a small bimini on my 16ft. Lowe this year only to get myself and Amy out of the sun on those warm days.
  5. When I die there will be no formal wake or funeral. I want to be cremated and have my neighbor fly over my favorite smallmouth spot here on Lower Huron and let my ashes fly. As far as I know there is some ordinance against this but once I'm dead I really don't give a crap. Couple of cans full of ashes probably won't hurt the river but as for the other stuff...flowers OK but the rest lets not litter folks. Yeah I know I may be a bit insensitive but I hate political correctness and it's ramifications on society.
  6. Thanks for posting. It was overcast here until around 12 last night so we missed the eclipse.
  7. Oh jerk baits I thought the post read jerk offs and immediately though of the guy that cut me off this afternoon. On the serious side what Roy said about confidence is so true. I have lots of confidence in Rapalas and they are always my go to bait when all else fails. In fact I did just that at lakair last June after nothing seemed to be working. After putting on the Rap well Mr Pike decided to have lunch. After bringing him in I got hooked for the first time in my life. I can tell you keep your hooks sharp.... as I didn't feel a thing going in until the fish started thrashing about. As for bombers I've been using them in spring for Salmon for 30+ years still work so they must be good.
  8. Let's ad some religion to the mix...I worship my Dodge hasn't failed me yet..in fact neither did my old 77 D100 or the 78 I bought my son years ago. Now my Fords were decent trucks but not without problems... My GMC 3/4 diesel van was probably the best vehicle I ever owned mechanically but the trim work was crap and my other GMC 1/2 tons were alright except for the new engine GM put in one of them after the 305 blew the rings in 2 cylinders. So what I'm saying is simply there are good and bad in any North American truck made. I can't speak for Toyota, Honda or Nissan but can say if I were looking for another truck Toyota and Nissan would be on my shopping list.
  9. When wearing my raincoat I always go the extra protection and wear rubbers as well. You have to stay dry AND protected!
  10. If you look real close you'll see some OFC'RS....Beans, Big Cliff. Lew and Me, we were there before most of you were born!!!..LOL
  11. That is absolutely super!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Thats one of the reasons I like living rural. On my way home from work ( usually takes me 3 minutes ) today it took me 3 minutes. Only saw one vehicle going North on my way home. Traffic gridlock around here is 3 vehicles in a row going down Lakeshore road. I did the commute to my office by Pearson Int'l from Acton for 8 or so years. Each year the 401 would get worse and getting on by the airport off of 427 to head west was stop and go to highway 10 and then as time went by Mississauga road. I never want to have to do that drive again unless it becomes absolutely necessary.
  13. Sam...sounds like just plain good business sense to not be there. In years past friends that own a lodge in Elk Lake used to be at the Sportsmans show. They quit going years ago because of the cost and said just what you did. Every year they would loose more than they would make on an esclating basis so now they do a couple of smaller shows and the internet and it serves them well.
  14. Joe you have to spend more time in Canada as Canadians age slower than Americans....something about the beer!
  15. I really enjoyed that. We have many bird houses and in winter a couple of feeders in the birch tree by one of the front windows. The wife and I sit and watch the birds almost every morning. I use watching them for serenity before facing the normal day.
  16. Freekin sloppy mess North of Sarnia where I live. I have about 2" of slush on the drive with the trees loaded with ice. Still windy with a driving rain, sleet, snow mix.
  17. A few years back we had a jet empty it's fuel over Lake Huron in the area I live. They claimed the evaporation would occur before any contamination would happen to the water supply. I still didn't drink piped water for over a week. Not to make light of the situation but catah and release also might be in order. Here's a bit more information on Cumene don't sound like good stuff to me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumene
  18. email Dalton and David Ramsey and tell them what you think. It probably won't do much good but you'll feel better..actually mention the next election coming up this year and how you'll vote if they can get you a spot.
  19. After 40 years I just do what I do when she is here, it's to much of a habit to break.
  20. Last time I saw that my mother in law was floating away on it....
  21. I probably have posted a hundred times about my feelings and borders, I can honestly say that Amy is probably the most intelligent, and best tempered dog I have ever had. She sure likes to run and when the grandkids were younger she wouldn't let them get close to the steps going down to our hallway amoungst other things. The breed is just wired to work and play hard. As Amy has got older she has slowed down a bit but open the door and call her and it's time to rock and roll. She travels everywhere with me and I couldn't have a better companion on my fishing and camping trips.
  22. My wife told me this morning I had plenty last night!
  23. Hear he's going to be buried with Anna Nicole Smith once they get everything figured out.
  24. Don't know the number but I do want you to know I voted for you!
  25. Following an erratic driver , figured he was drunk until another head popped up!
