  1. It was great once again to see some old faces and meet some new people. Conversation was non stop and all seemed to enjoy themselves. Bad weather held off so everyone could have a safe trip home. I'm sure that if the weather would not have been so "iffy" we would have stayed longer. It was super to hear that Fish and Chips will have an easier time this year at Silvr'y Moon I.E. more time for fishing!!!! And by the way those burgers are called " Brontausaurus Burgers" 12oz of burger with cheese, grilled and raw onions, pickles, tomato and lettuce fries with gravy. I had one last time and another yesterday, next G2G I'll have another!
  2. A few years back we had 3 dogs ( 5 if you count the neignbors that lived here and the stray we took in but sadly lost to heart worm 2 months later ) Now most of you know I have Amy pictured on the left. She goes everywhere with me including all camping, fishing and most trips to the mall ( if I'm just going to be in and out and it's not hot out ) I would be lost without her. Here she is last June at Lakair.
  3. This chicken T.J. What were you thinking of?
  4. What he said above goes for me too!
  5. Probably more humane than choking it!
  6. Bass= The poor man's muskie!!!! Pound for pound if you use the right tackle you'll have one heck of a fight for the size of the fish and when you loose a bait you don't have to go to the bank to get a loan for a new one.
  7. Hey Darwin........I wonder if the guy also had some extra weight in the back to help with traction..LOL although glad no one was hurt except the guys ego!
  8. Are you talking pop up or small self contained? In either case go deep cycle for longer lasting power. Now if your going to run a fridge, lights and CD/Radio without a charging system the fridge will be your biggest drain so look into electric/propane for the fridge and if no hydro is available run it on gas. Without this option you battery will not last more than approx 2 days as the fridge uses lots of amps to perform it's duty cycle. Most newer trailers are equipped with a 120 to 12v inverter which will have a charging freature so when you are plugged in it will charge the battery. If I am going where there is no power I usually bring along my 1800 watt generator which has a battery charger built in. When we used to go to the Garden river I would run the fridge on propane, and the furnace fan ( only overnight ) and lights off a deep cycle. I could get 3 to 5 days depending on the draw but with the generator would top the battery up every two days. I have had pop ups. trailers and truck campers for over 35 years so pm me with the specifics of your intended purchase and I may be able to give you more info.
  9. Another reason to not swim in the ocean!
  10. Now you know why I quit drinking 30 years ago!
  11. Worked fine for me. Tried Kesagami and our first cottage there was the one just to the right at the base of the pier.... being that close made me want to go back!
  12. Favourite Genre of Music...Blues Favourite Band....To many blues bands to list Most underrated band....Mudpuppy...but their not together anymore
  13. You won't miss the city. Before we moved to Canada we lived in a "village" outside of Chicago with 80000+ people, were 1/2 block away from one of the largest zoos in the world ( Brookfield Zoo ) and were surrounded by shopping malls, super highways, and of course Chicago visible to the east with it's millions of people. Our first house in Canada was in Acton Ontario until we moved where to where you visited me 2 years ago. I couldn't nor would I ever want to live in the city again. Everyone has preferences and mine is just to visit them and live away from them. You will be happy with your purchase, hope everything goes ok for you.
  14. Just for your info, Strip joints are considered off limits for any attacking force. Their listed as morale boosters in the Geneva convention!.
  15. TJ..just sent you some picture of that place via email about 10 minutes ago. I say keep your freekin ski hill and sell us oil at a reasonable price. Perhaps the next time we have to defend these guys we will have to declare that monument to decadence a sacred site. Oh heck I'm just mad cause I filled up both vehicles today!!
  16. What outfitter did you use...pictures look very interesting,
  17. I live about 45 Km from an Esso & Suncor refinery. So why are we paying 81.9 at the local esso station and 79.9 at the station on the Kettle Point reserve when as of today these were the lowest prices and areas recorded. Guess it's because we live to close to the refinery! 67.9 Walmart Dryden Sat 1:48 AM Hiway 17 67.9 Husky Dryden Sat 1:48 AM Hyw 17 71.6 Pioneer Gananoque Sat 1:58 PM 71.9 Petro Canada Brockville Sat 2:01 PM 72.0 Ultramar Brockville Sat 11:32 AM
  18. I used to do that all the time, but the older I get the better my purchase resistance has become. I keep telling myself if I can't catch fish with the 1000+ lures I now have do I really need anymore...I do have to admit that on occasion the answer is yes. Now it's a different story with gadgets however.
  19. Don't it just warm your heart when you get a great bargin!!!!
  20. Great to hear your making progress. Should you decide to go just be careful out on the ice, the last thing you need to do now is fall!
  21. Puts a new prespective on an old phrase..........
  22. The one in Sarnia is almost moved out now. Hardly any good deals left as of yesterday but previously there were some GREAT deals. New super centre opens Jan 24th the day after Princess Auto's grand opening on the 23rd. I think I'm going to be spending some $$$
  23. Hills and Ice don't mix well to begin with. Add drivers that are not used to these weather conditions, and don't have proper tires etc and it's a recipe for disaster. Reminds me of some old business trips to Vancouver during the rare snow or ice storms there in the past.
  24. Angus Graham was a Esso Captain and a customer of ours after he retired. He was out the night the Fitzgerald went down and heard the inter ship communications. He claimed that in all his years on the Great Lakes he never saw a storm as bad as that day. He also felt that the mistake the Fitz made was trying to save time and outrun the worst part of the storm by cutting through an area that in calm conditions took skill and manuaverability as there was a rocky bottom that was shallow in spots and required constant monitoring. He said the ship probably came into contact with the bottom and fractured the hull and eventually stressed to the point where she broke. His feelings I believe have been confirmed by underwater photos and video's over the years.
  25. DARWIN entry # 1....however it looks like a blast!
