  1. Buy it you'll like it! Just looked at a used package today for a friend. 16 Ft alum with a 40 Johnson 4 stroke. Motor is 2 years old, boat is well used asking price $9000. Don't know what your deal is but if your satisfied thats all that matters.
  2. Happy belated birthday...good to know there is someone older then me here!!!!
  3. If you decide to stop in Winnipeg make sure you lock your car and watch your back at night!
  4. Some things that get to me. We drift fish for walleye where Lake Huron channels into the St Clair river. Some nights there are 50 or more boats out and of course you drift quicker as you approach the river. Now you have to start up and run back out and it never fails that some dumb arses don't have their light(s) on and are on a dark night impossible to see. They usually are the one's that yell at you if you almost hit them! People that pull up near you and begin to cast toward your boat ( and on occasion hit it with the lure ) Hey it's not my lake but use your brain ( or maybe you don't have one ) Idiots on ramps that wait till the beginning of bass season to try and start their boat at the ramp for the first time.
  5. Happy Birthday and welcome to the old farts club!!!!
  6. I keep voting every day but upward movemenmt has been very slow. We need more repeat voters to vote every day.
  7. It's never easy to say goodbye to a companion, confidant, and most of all a best friend. We have to remember that what we don't want to do is whats best for our friend. Hold on the the memories, and if your ever ready find another friend and give them the love and care you have given before.
  8. I just purchased the same, VG quality for the price....PD $109 + tax CDN during the Radio World sale.
  9. Whether I agree or not with Moore ( and on some things I do agree ) my statement below is what I always feel after watching his movies. Moore's documentaries/dramas/comedies do make some good points, but he never points out anything good about the USA...which is one of the few countries he enjoys the freedom to produce his form of entertainment. Heck, I wounder if he ever turns over any the the millions he makes to these causes of his, or does he eat all the profits! If he is so concerned about all his causes he would be better off sticking to one ( like Al Gore ) oh but wait by the 2nd and 3rd movie on say GM, no one would go anymore and he wouldn't make money.....get it yet, his motivation is money orientated, and with so many things going wrong he has unlimited subjects and unlimited profits.
  10. Well after canceling this years trip to Lakair as my doc's requested I took another turn for the worse. After the surgery in April things were looking up until the incision opened and infected requiring 8 weeks of VON daily. With that problem my water retention was put in 2nd place on the fix list and then stupid me with the male ego "Ill get better" attitude took over. In the end I was rushed by ambulance to hospital on June 22nd not being able to breath. Yep good old congestive heart failure. For the next 9 days I found out what is was like to be a waterfall. 2 IV injections daily to make you part with your "water" and in the end the result was went in hospital @ 244Lbs was released @ under 200lbs....now thats a lot of peeing!!!!. I also did manage to get my existing heart problem to become worse and am now in the process of adjusting my all new med regime to meet my requirements. Since todays my 63rd birthday and I'm still here after the last 3 months I would like to beg with anyone out there that "if your not feeling right don't wait like I did until you do damage....go see your doc as soon a possible and get yourself taken care of no matter your age" Don't be stupid like me and think you can do it by yourself. OK enough preaching....except for due to my male ego I still have not wet a line this year and probably won't for another week or two. Don't let that type of thing happen to you!!!!!
  11. Yep...I agree movie in the works. The did it with Homicide Life on the Streets but with that series the movie was the finale.
  12. Thanks for all the kind words...I asked Amy if she wanted to go up alone but her drivers license requires a licensed driver to be with her and without me going she's kind of stuck at home. She's also afraid no one will be able to make her homemade dog food the way I do.
  13. Sometimes in life we just have to take the bad with the good. After seeing my surgeon yesterday and my GP today I won't be able to make Lakair this year. With all the setbacks I've had with infections as well as the drains I still have in me ( and will for the next few weeks yet ) it's not worth the risk. When you look forward to a trip all fall winter and spring and then can't go it's a bummer. I wish all of the OFC'RS going the best, have lots of fun, catch lots of fish and with any luck I'll see you all next year.
  14. Lew my deepest condolences on the loss of your brother. From the pictures you posted he sure did enjoy his times fishing with you. Hold on to the memories of good times and I know he will always be with you on the water.
  15. Well like all things it used to be free parking and lower attendance prices at the spring show...say goodbye to that. Just a sign of the times.....well at least I used to go to the spring show, but doubt I'll be going to the new one unless I hear lots of good things.
  16. I have done lots of fishing from these boats. Many friends have had them and some still do. If proper care was taken they will last a long time and are a Great Lakes fishing machine. They had different engines used in both the 19 and 21 ft. models. The 4 cly is a bit underpowered for the 21 but will still move it, however in the wind you may wish you had more power. The 6cly is best for the 21 but don't expect fantastic mileage when operating at more than 1/2 throttle. I suggest a kicker for trolling. Now since they are aluminum and sit high in the water they will blow around a bit under windy conditions compared to Fiberglas, but all in all they are usually a good buy and a super fishing machine....in my opinion anyway. Here I am by my buddies boat in 2002....I think the pump price was around 49 to 52 cents back then!
  17. 1st I use Amsoil 100 to 1 never had a problem in the last 8 years. As to ratio look here http://www.csgnetwork.com/marineoilfuelcalc.html
  18. Happy Birthday and enjoy what's left of the day!
  19. Because he doesn't want to win the "Deliverance" trophy two years in a row?
  20. Booked a spot for the truck camper with Kevin and Leslie back in January. Now all I need is the Surgeon to tell me it's OK to go and I'll be there for around a week with Amy. OH and to the Feds please no election until after the weekend is over working for elections Canada ruined this event for me once before, but I did like the compensation.
  21. Nice to read that most are getting out and having a good time. Hopefully by June I can do the same. Suffered a setback when my incision open up and got infected. Never felt so weak in my life. Looks like 3 more weeks of VON for me. Keep the pictures and reports coming they sure are nice to read.
  22. Got to sneak down to the PC again this morning. Just want to thank all of you for the kind words as well as words of encouragement. Hope fully I'll be back full time between Thursday and Monday.
  23. I've missed the board for the last 10 days or so. On Friday 10 days previous I thought I was getting the flu, but by mid evening it was without a doubt one bad case. I managed to make it to Monday and when I went to see our doctor and was told you most likely have a blocked bowel and get to the hospital now. My wife drove me right down and for the next 3 days they tried to fix the problem with medicine which was not working so Thursday last I had surgery at 7:00 PM to remove the bad section. Now it's Monday and I'm hoping to be home by Friday. I was lucky to find this PC in the surgery waiting room so I thought I would take advantage and post. I was told there must be something to being an active outdoorsey type ( yeah I know there's no such word ) as when 9 hours after the operation they had me walking in intensive care without much diffuculity. They told me being able to have the stamina to do this that shortly after surgery is not the norm......so keep fishing and hunting!
  24. PM sent with pricing
  25. As I said on the original post simply call the furnace manufacturer and ask them about the thermostat and furnace components. As for break in's all I can tell you is I have been around trailers and campers most of my life, well at least for 50+ years. I currently work at a campground which recently had 7 break in's. The simple fact is this a trailer and due to the way they are constructed if someone wants to get in all they have to do is pry the door. Only way to help stop it is an extra long deadbolt but again due to the way they are constructed nothing and I do mean nothing short of sitting in it armed ( and we all know you can't do that )can keep someone out if they want to get in. I have yet to see a camping trailer that a good pry bar can't defeat so if you have bad feelings about leaving it somewhere then you might want to look elsewhere. One other thing...if it's a 77 and you going to leave it out for the next 8 to 10 years good luck. Your floor, wood and I would bet already has some rot and the caulking should be checked as well. Exposure to the elements for the next few years will do nothing but make it worse. Make sure as mentioned above you run a leak check on your propane system. I am also willing to bet that if the furnace has not been used the orifice for the pilot light will be corroded and require cleaning or replacement. The same goes for the refrigerator. So before going anywhere check the entire trailer out from front to back. It's a lot easier to fix stuff when you have access to parts.
