  1. Getting back to "Is Your Trailer Road Worthy?"....Yes it is, probably because it's maintained throughout the season and especially before being stored with the boat. Why, because I had a bearing go out once on my tandem trailer on the highway, and said it would never happen again if I could help it.
  2. I'm on my 3rd year with the Deere below, I do all my own maintaince as required by the owners manual and she hasn't given me any problems. I use the exmark below to cut the campground, and will tell you it's one sweet machine. If you have a lot of grass to cut and like to roll doing it as well as being able to cut and turn on a dime then this is for you.
  3. Happy Birthday.........and what Roy said!
  4. Hey Norm have a great one!!!!! Looking forward to seeing you this June!
  5. I have one transducer at the back that goes to the locator mounted on the side counsel panel and another transducer mounted to the bow mount trolling motor and is connected to another locator ( which I choose to be portable ) that I can move anywhere in the boat, but usually remains near the front centre mount seat.
  6. Best wishes on your birthday...enjoy what's left of the day!!!
  7. Happy Birthday Wayne...I would give you a birthday kiss but you know how one thing can lead to another so I'll just reiterate....once again Happy Birthday.
  8. Just wondering with a little over 3 months before the Saturday 3 hour Lakair Tournament of OFC Champions if it's time to start ( pin ) a thread regarding the annual pilgrimage to Lake Nipissing's West Arm and Lakair Lodge.
  9. I second, third and forth the above statement! Please do not do lead molding in a small confined area without proper ventilation. Also make sure your molds have wood handles or you'll find out how aluminum will hold heat for long periods while molding and pass it to your hands very quickly.
  10. Rubber core sinkers work great while trolling. I consider them a cheap mans lead core alternative.
  11. I'm confused...indifference to enthusiastic vigor and liveliness...I say RA PALA just like RI COLA
  12. One the question of left over minnows, although I would not change the poll a third time the first answer of throw them back into the lake doesn't allow for self trapped or purchased. Since we trap 95% of all our own minnows from the body of water we are fishing, yes I throw them back into the lake. That being said if I purchased them from a dealer any remaining go on my bird feeder or are simply discarded in the bush...never in the lake.
  13. I've been using tite-lok for years...follow the link to 3 pages of different styles http://www.titelok.com/index.php?cPath=18_...t=2a&page=1 just purchased their high speed version 5HS798. Just to save money if you want order the 5798 and the 5HS798-ADP adapter seperately. If you want to save even more don't order directly from tite lok, order from Captain Gary's Fishing Specialties in Michigan ( no it's not this Gary ) web http://www.captgarys.com Fantastic service and very attractive prices.
  14. Rationalize the situation and, be realistic. There is now a ban in effect for certain areas. Do you really think that all fishermen that harvest their own minnows are going to abide by it. Does everyone that has their boat in Erie, Huron etc rinse it throughly before going to Simcoe or other Northern lakes? Obviously we all would like the answer to be yes to the latter question but know it simply is not done in all cases. Any law or ban that is passed is meant to try and stop this sort of thing, but only serves to limit overall contamination in other waterways. They simply are totally infeasible to enforce so you will always have those who do as they wish. Like most problems with our Great Lakes ecosystem our Governmental agencies drag their feet doing studies and research upon research unit it's to late to do anything. VHS is a prime example. It's been around for a long time...maybe they thought it would just go away, but like usual now were in deep crap and no one yet has thrown in a life jacket. As a live bait fisherman I find it disheartening that I cannot fish the way I would like to because someone in Government didn't think VHS was important enough years ago. It's no different than the Ontario Government allowing the then Ontario Hydro to do as they wished instead of regulating them the way they were suppose to. We all now pay the debt reduction charge and not being able to purchase live minnows has it's parallels. Remember that Chretien's government, instead of going after the ships releasing the exotics, proposed a federal surtax on fishing licenses to help stop foreign invaders. It's time government started charging and demanding flushing of ballast tanks before entering our system. How much more destruction to our water ecosystem need take place before someone has the guts to say enough is enough.
  15. I think we are overreacting and don't think the use of the word "hicks" was meant to be derogatory, but simply a description of where they were from VS Toronto. I'm a southern Ontario hick but don't fit the definition above, not Protestant or of the Baptist persuasion ( although I have a lot of Baptist friends ) don't consider myself a racist, have almost as many women friends as men ( God I'm lucky ) so I don't feel I'm a sexist, finished high school, university and beyond, and the only one that calls me dumb is my wife ( maybe she knows something no one else does ). Give the guy some slack. Some day, since he loves to fish, he'll take one of those trips North and never want to come back to the city. Happened to me in my teens and I even left the states to be closer to the Canadian "outdoor experience"....I've never looked back! To use Waynes word....no more Metrosexual for me ( and I grew up in Chicago as a kid ) Now as far as the show I find it to expensive for the entertainment value, to far to go ( 2 1/2 hour one way min ) with the current fuel cost to make it practical, and when you figure in food etc. I can't find any bargains when I already dumped $40+ just to get in the door. Add to that the Flea Market extra junk being flogged out and I would rather just go to Gander Mtn, BPS or Cabela's.
  16. Well not any smarter, nor any dumber....just slower!!!!!!!!!
  17. Bear, one of our my previous dogs was a chow and couldn't swim very well. He still would go in the lake with me usually floating on an large innertube next to me. Never took him out to far and he seemed to enjoy his float. Amy, my current best buddy, can swim and loves to go in the boat but I always put a dog lifejacket on her. Many times I have had people laugh at her wearing it while out in the boat with me. Comment usually is don't you know dogs can swim! Why do you have the jacket on her? One year she fell in between the boat and the pier as I was coming in to dock, I put the OB in neutral, went to the side of the boat grabbed the handle of the life jacket and lifted her into the boat. One of the people that said something to me a few days before came down and said "Now I know why you have a jacket on her, sure made it easy to get her back into the boat" My reply was yes it is and I didn't even get scratched.
  18. Take your pick. http://www.shiningtree.com/accommodations1.html
  19. I suggest you contact Jim Flemming. http://www.rivernet.net/~drifter2/ He charters on Lake St Clair and Erie...yes I know it isn't Sarnia but not that far and fishing with Jim is one great experience. He really works to get you fish and has been on all the Ontario TV guys shows. I'm not related nor a close friend just someone that knows simply, from word of mouth, his charters are worth going on.
  20. They (McGuinty and his pals ) would rather give millions to get rid of the former head of Hydro One, because that is what's important.
  21. Way to BPS and Moe....and it came just when YOU needed a perk..truly what goes around comes around!
  22. Look, the rodent is new to the job just having taken over after his predecessors demise. He hasn't been to meteorologist school yet so wait till next year when he knows what he's doing to want to kill him.
  23. I LOVE bass fishing...can't wait!

  25. The hatchery coordinator of our club made reference to the regs at out meeting on Tuesday. He was told by the MNR people the new regs COULD be out in May but nothing is for sure yet. I personally wouldn't be surprised if we don't see them until Fall of this year or Jan 2008. He was told to basically follow the 2006 until further notice, with some exception, see Wayne's post above.
