  1. If you don't have any lock deicer and have Isopropyl alcohol ( rubbing alcohol ) around just use it. It's the same thing Canadian tire sells in those little squeeze bottles for .99 cents each. I've been using it for years. Take the lock in and let it dry and put some good lock lube like graphite ( I use Krown T40 or Amsoil MP spray ) in the lock. It will displace water and under normal conditions will prevent freeze up. You can also do the same in your automobile door locks, works like a charm.
  2. I have I.E. 7 also and once I told it to allow the download and figured out that on a post instead of clicking the ABC with the check beneath but go up to tools find it and use it from there it works fine. I should have realised that for me never try to do anything when I'm hungry as I just don't function properly.
  3. I like you are most likely used to electric water heaters. Gas have to exhaust like a gas furnace or fireplace. Living rural like I do, with no gas line available, electric or propane is our only two choices, and propane is not cheap anymore.
  4. Tractor Supply Company http://www.tscstores.com/ I think granny had a fling with one of their salesmen!
  5. If you going to stay living in your current house then buy it. There easy to install and you will save lots of dollars over the life of the heater. Heck Cdn tire sells them ( electric for approx $279.00 or less ) Do yourself a favour and spend a little extra. Purchase a drip pan you place beneath them and run a hose from it to your sewer or sump. We changed years ago when I called because ours was leaking and they said the fastest they could be out was 4 to 5 days...yeah right. In 2 hours we had a new one purchased and installed.
  6. T.J thanks, I wasn't going to go but for free I sure will!!!!!! Address will be sent in a few minutes.

  8. Now was the problem he wouldn't listen or you had to clean the crate in the morning?
  9. Just getting over a three week bout with something that comes and goes. Last Sunday felt like my sinuses we going to explode, was dizzy and could not eat, teeth ached, sholders and neck ached and stomach felt like there was a baloon in it. Being diabetic sugar control was impossible. Worst problem was that this was the 4th time in the 3 weeks I felt that bad. Whatever is floating around out there is real nasty.

  12. Although I'm not much of TV sports fan like a fishing trip it gives those who love the game a reason to get excited.. Being originally from Chicago I know from talking and emailing friends and relations there that the hype has been good for the city and suburbs. I only hope if the bears win that calmer heads prevail in the streets. I love the commercials very original and funny. Guess if your spending millions for 30 sec you have got to give it your all. To bad companies couldn't give some of that cash to the needy, but that's for another day. I was at one time a big Bears fan and went to many of the games at the old soldiers field. Some time with the wind coming off the lake along with very cold temps weather conditions under normal circumstances would have been unbearable, but during the game no one seemed to notice, especially the nuts that were naked from the waist up. Although we were in Canada for the last Bears super bowl win the 26th of January 1986 it still brought back lots of memories of my youth and being at the games. So at least for me I say Go Bears...
  13. My buddy installs about 5 to 10 a week, in fact he's doing 3 in the same block tomorrow. There not as fast as high speed but depending on what you want to spend can make you internet life a lot easier.
  14. Jimmy, a friend of mine had one of those. He rigged a rod holder and tackle box to it, a place to put his thermos and some lunch and he would go from his house the 2 or 3 mile trip to the government docks in Sarnia and fish every day he could. It should really help with your mobility, I know he was thrilled when he got his. Good luck and be careful trolling piers should you decide to give it a try!
  15. Didn't he play Jame Bond a few years back......Oh wait that was Roger Moore.
  16. Does all that leather on a moose turn on you Northern boys? That old guy in the picture looks very happy! LOL
  17. Your out the money and they will probably get a suspended sentence or horror of horrors, community service to work offl....you best chance is to ask for restitution. Years back one of our buildings was damaged buy a fire in building adjacent to it. Not only did we have a flooded basement but the fire dept used our roof to try and put out the fire from above it. In the end we had roof damage, the rear porch that ran the length of the building was beyond repair and had to be replaced. The other building was destroyed. Our insurer was Co-operators and their claim agent "Randy" told my wife ( I was in the Chapleau game reserve when it happned ) not to worry as we had the million dollar policy. The fire was ruled arson but no charges were ever laid, and our agent did something that from what I understand was not to be done....he insured two older buildings side by side in a row block ( I.E. buildings touch each other on both sides.) Well our "Million dollar policy" became the $1.00 special and by the time all was said and done it cost me $12000 plus for the porch and I don't even want to mention the roof cost. The insurance did however pay to have the basement pumped and air dried.
  18. Up until a few years ago a friend of mine was in charge of the show, I may be prejudiced but I went every year with a few friends spent some money and really enjoyed the Spring Show. Since she is no longer with OOD I have witnessed a decline in the overall show, and this has been confirmed many posts on the OFC as well as other boards. For me to drive 2+ hours one way, stop for 2 to 3 meals and spend money to visit a show that simply doesn't measure up to the past does not make sense, so it's no go for us this year. I will however go to the London show as I'm working one of the booths selling Salmon Derby tickets for Bluewater Anglers on Sunday!
  19. Fantastic news, it's people like him that are the real heros!
  20. While in my 30's my employer and I parted company, and after a few months of floating and an interview for employment in the scale business with a total jerk I decided to do something for myself ( and the family ). Here we were, US citizens in a foreign country, and stood to loose a lot of $$ if we decided to move back to the states. Without a long story we moved from Acton went into the Audio/Video and movie rental business in a town we knew no one in. In the beginning business was fantastic we made some nice income property investments, and bought into or started some other ventures including appliance, pizza, ice cream parlor, army surplus ( that was a blast ) and as few more. I took up Canadian citizenship as I loved Canada and decided I wanted a voice, however weak through my vote, in politics. As the big box nationals closed in we started to liquidate and at 55 I retired. Yes things worked out OK BUT and this is a big BUT be prepared to work your butt off ( you most likely will spend more time working than before, especially in the first few years ) and be willing to sacrifice desires to purchasing what is needed to expand the business. Be prepared for some disagreements with your spouse along the way. If everything works out you'll never look back.
  21. Excellent advise above! You may have trouble getting it in the crate at first so try to make it as pleseant an experience as possible and what we did when we came home was treats and a run. They catch on quick.
