  1. For Steelheading purposes, 8 lb. test ain't light! Try a lighter line, 4-6 lb. floro, and keep at it.
  2. As stated their are many different Muskie Set-ups, rods/reels that are specific to Bucktails, Jerkbaits/Glidebaits, Trolling...Etc. A good starting point, or if one rod is all you ever plan on owning would be a (length of your choice) 7-8 foot, MHF, 1 1/2-3 oz. rod.
  3. Exit at Colvin Blvd. off the 290.
  4. Alot of the LSC Charter boats have big colapsable livewells on them for reviving fish.
  5. They are the most exciting freshwater gamefish! Welcome to the madness!
  6. Holy cow, I mean Bull...
  7. As Roy said, the best thing about a good Muskie net is that it acts as a holding pen, allowing the fish to remain in the water most of the time. A cradle is a two person operation, where as you can land a fish yourself with a net. A fine mesh Salmon net is really hard on a Muskies Tail and fins. Stowmaster, Beckman or Frabil are the way to go, net cheap, but nothing about Muskie fishing is, and the most valuable thing is the fish, that 51" you got was likely over 20 years old!
  8. Just like makin love...Deep and slow!
  9. There was a mid 40"s- 30 pounder caught off St Catharines this spring, 30 fow, on a Rapala J-13 behind a downrigger. They're out there, probably some big ones, some big Pike as well I bet. You could spend your lifetime looking for them...
  10. A bit gluttonous, don't you think?
  11. Most knowledgable Muskie anglers seem to agree that a 30 lb. fish is possible but rare, with 40 lbs. being the absolute heaviest that would possibly come out of a Kawartha Lake. I consider a 20-25 lb. fish a trophy Kawartha Muskie. This is my heaviest Kawartha fish... Only about 43". Didn't weigh her but I'd guess north of 20 lbs. I bet she gets to the high 20s someday is she lives long enough...
  12. Did any live?
  13. Take a canoe...
  14. Nice fish Thom!
  15. Thats more about driving skill, or lack there of, than Chevy vs. Nissan. I wanna know where Gangbang Lake is???
  16. Being "new", you haven't seen the many Muskie pics Lew has posted. Its part of the evolution of being a Muskie hunter, when you start off you take pics of every fish, and post 'em. As the years go by and you catch more and hopefully bigger fish, you take less pics...
  17. Either the St. Croix Mojo Tube rod or the Legend Tournament, I have the Mojo, I like it, the LT is nicer though!
  18. Thats a couple of nice Esox!
  19. Good to see you back, happy to hear your summer was excellent, and you're enjoying the new ship!
  20. Nice fish!
  21. Its rotten Bananas on Stony for you Matt!
  22. Was on Pigeon Lake last weekend in a cold driving rain...Boat was doin about 30 mph, I was ducked behind the full windshield telling my Brother how much I hated it!(sarcasm)
  23. An electric motor will "pull" a boat(bow mount) much better than "push a boat(transom mount) 40 lb thrust might be a bit small for a 16 foot boat, the largest thrust before going to 2 batteries(24 volts) is 55 lbs. I have a 55 lb on my 16 foot aluminum, its ok on flat water but much wind or current and it struggles...
  24. That shoal just past the bridge is as well marked as it gets! The trick is to stay between the channel markers!
  25. I say take 'em to the pier and throw them in!
