  1. Also if you use your boat you are required to license it as a small commercial vessel & carry commercial insurance. And if you use his boat for guiding they must also be licensed and insured as small commercial vessels.
  2. Just a question for you limeyangler. Will you be using his or the clients boats or your own? That can make a big difference liability wise. In one case you can be considered an employee but in the other you will be an independent contractor. Is he running your pay though as an employee with deductions or just giving you cash? If not being treated as an employee the potential legal hassles are not worth it. His insurance will not shield you unless your an employee.
  3. I find too light of a rod action is detrimental to vertically fishing perch from a boat. Wave action on the boat will have the rod bending constantly which will lead to missed bites. Medium action or even heavy action will show more bites when the boats rocking.
  4. Yes no limits or seasons for bullheads. Just ensure you are not fishing in a sancuary as this does apply no matter your target species.
  5. I prefer heavier rods for dipseys. I find the dipseys trip better.
  6. Many of the suits mentioned that are not Transport Canada approved are still floater suits but just haven't went through the approval process for Canada. If your not using them as your PFD on a boat the approval tag is not required by law.
  7. Mostlikely true.
  8. Why? The bridge is on the other side of N.E.M. No need to cross it if coming down Hwy 73.
  9. GBW not legal.
  10. Have you tried hanging it in water. The wood may effect it from hanging straight up & down. That's the reason I let it hang by the cord using the bracket to keep it level. Gravity with the only floatation at the top. Good luck tomorrow.
  11. DanD you faired far better in Beaverton than you would have in Innisfil.
  12. In the past I've used a set-up like this.
  13. Make sure you transducer is hanging level in the water. If not the beam will be concentrated off to the side. Also increase your ping speed to the maximum speed.
  14. For perch once you catch one keeper remove the eye balls. Great bait which last for far more than one fish. Notice I said a "keeper". No plucking eye balls from a dink & than letting it go.
  15. A weekend trip this year may leave you very few options. Most will already be booked. If they have lots of openings there may be a reason. That said even good operators have cancelations. Start calling soon and don't wait too long to book if you find an opening. Could also asked to be put on a list for cancelations.
  16. If you can get to some of the back lakes try setting up a minnow trap near the shore just under the ice. That's how the locals get their minnows.
  17. I've bought some of these type of rods from 6' to 12'. Carbon fibre telescopic rods off "E Bay" from Hong Kong & China. Although I've yet to put the 12' to the test the smaller ones have stood up to some good fighting fish. Even the 12' one will fit in a suitcase. Price is right. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Portable-Carbon-Fiber-Ultralight-Travel-Telescopic-Fishing-Rod-Sea-Spinning-Pole/131974199963?hash=item1eba467a9b:m:m3hFaKcJkYQF_qp4oZEzmzQ
  18. Is he using new plugs this year?
  19. If used for icefishing with no intensions of using it as your floation device in a boat than Department of Transport (Canada) certification is not required. For these suits Royal Distributing have some good floating snowmobile suits. I prefer a 2 peice suit.
  20. I learned one important thing. When fishing in a hut only one line per angler. If someone hooks one everyone else get their lines out ASAP otherwise your fishing halts until the tangled mess is dealt with.
  21. Doug that may have been the incident near Perth. ATV through the ice.
  22. A report from Temagami yesterday said that snowmobiles where running on both Snake Island & Cassels lakes.
  23. DJGeneral where are you going to be staying? When ATVing last June we stayed at Park Place Motel. I found it to be a nice place within sight of the lake. On review sites it gets good reviews. The other place on the other side of the lake doesn't get the same reviews.
  24. Tonight I plan on a beef stir fry with onions, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoe & sweet peppers served mixed with spiral noddles in olive oil topped with parmesan cheese. Also some nice fresh warm multigrain bread to acompany it.
  25. Yes heading to Temagami on the 26th. If not fishing that day the next for sure.
