  1. Going to spending a couple days in LSPP towards the end of month. Forecast pending, we will be spending 2-3 nights on the lake, with Wawa as our fallback if the forecast is cold. Could go either way really. This will certainly be my coldest camping endeavor. I know how to handle myself in harsh winter environments, just wondering what some of you may have done in the past [or tools you use] to heat your tent prior to entering for the night. We will have a winter tent [rated to -40 for what that's worth].
  2. 4. Fix it up and sell it! Never liked Jiffy's...used a few of them now [all well maintained] and all of them were moody starters no matter what.
  5. Wooly buggers are not hard to find...probably the most popular fly in the world.
  6. I've never worn a floater suit that I felt fit me comfortably. A two-piece suit is definitely worth the extra bit of cash though.
  7. At least 2 people went through this weekend [don't know where on Kempenfelt exactly].
  8. I used to run that same unit for a season, and had the same problem. It works terrible in cold weather.
  9. Awesome. Are you pouring your own jigs and plastics, or having them done locally?
  10. Almost as bad as people that have nothing better to contribute than griping about their daily commute
  11. Great fish, and tough to beat that average size. I've yet to find a type of baitfish that splake won't clobber!
  12. Watch yourself!
  13. Got a couple buddies that like to batter the egg sacs and eat em alongside the filets...they don't do much for me but they're certainly not bad

  15. The meat likely won't taste as good if you were to fillet then refreeze. eat em' up
  16. I can't believe you kept count! Good job dude I caught two herring on Nip today that were twice those size...gonna try pickling them.
  17. I felt more than comfortable driving my truck many miles on 16-17" this weekend. Once ice gets over 12", it's the pressure cracks that scare me.
  18. Love the photos, and love the bucktail stinger rig. I'll have to do some experimenting with hair jigs once lakers finally open up here....
  19. Countdown to laker day

    1. Nipfisher
    2. sinclair

meh, lakers are just splake without speckie genes.

  20. All i need for most of my fishing. Flagged tip ups are annoying when you're on a hot bite. I use an insulated polar for when I'm fishing big dead baits for pike and lakers, and that's about it.
  21. Woah...enormous whitie
  22. hah! Love sled, love the scenery but most of all love the woodstove. Looks like a great weekend.
  23. Pretty lakers...I'm sure they'll taste even better.
  24. You know the ice is thick when it's getting measured in quarter inches...LOL Looks like you had another slay day. nice goin'
  25. Absolute tanks...what an awesome trip
