  1. 5-6 inches on Callander today...sinkholes everywhere, and some clown drove his truck out about a km off shore. Couldn't believe it didn't go trough.
  2. It's an awful mess on the back lakes right now. Cold snap will lock up it and tight though.
  3. ice will be fine.
  4. Herring are not game fish so yes you can use them as bait
  5. Never liked those packaged ones, but frozen shiners work just fine
  6. mmmm...sure is
  7. McConnell Lake Campgrounds...4 hours and change from the GTA. Northeast of North Bay. http://http://www.mcconnellcampgrounds.com/
  8. You should've snuck a small perch into his pocket as he was leaving
  9. Wow! What a great fish. I like the herring...use it as bait then fry it up afterwards.
  10. It is not an officers duty to dictate what is safe for law-abiding adults on public land. I would've loved to be in your shoes for that one. Good job boys.
  11. zero degrees and sunny in mid-January? Time to go splakin'... Hit a productive splake lake with relatively high expectations, which were exceeded greatly with an absolutely insane mid-afternoon flurry of action. Fish came in waves, which is typical of splake, and had a couple bursts of action that produced 6-7 fish in under 30 minutes between 4 lines. Fish were primarily small, which I was more than okay since it's tough to beat a small char in terms of table fare. Was hoping for big bertha to rear her head at dusk but it wasn't meant to be. Next time... Stationed out around a high current area in 6-10 FOW... splitshot and a shiner was all that was needed but I was experimenting with williams spoons and a dropper rig and produced a good number of fish on it as well... Splake a-la stick is always a treat... Still waiting for lakers to open up here but these guys are filling the void nicely!
  12. Hey I usually end up in the best shape of the year by the end of winter, so I'm not complaining...okay maybe just about my catch rates...
  13. Yep. Thanks for the correction.
  14. LOL@ the 57 nests in Ontario Bull. Bald eagle numbers have been increasing steadily for decades since the banning of CFC's nearly wiped them out decades ago. Nothing 'sickening' about this. That article was P3TA-calibre stupidity.
  15. Yep..easy to get to...I fished a couple of those stocked lakes last winter and thought it was so strange to be ice fishing trout on a lake lined with cottages
  16. Those gators are THICK!
  17. If fuel consumption and depreciation aren't important to you, then get the Dodge lol!
  18. Alright, Nick let's meet halfway somewhere so you can teach me how to find crappies.
  19. Great stuff. I'd take a day like that over the zoo of simcoe any day of the week.
  20. Sweet! I had a brookie take a tip up of mine down the hole back in early december. Retrieved the tip up but not the fish
  21. trout - worm on hook everything else - minnow on hook catch fish hard...
  22. I highly doubt it. The unit itself is just not powerful enough to be overly effective. On warm days in < 14 FOW it's fine
  23. Can't say I remember it...but those early Genesis albums are out of this world.
  24. I used one for a season or two...absolutely hated the thing. Very inconsistent display, and became less and less effective the colder it got. Hardly even worth the effort of lugging the thing around.
