I should have tried this! Mine went from reeling in nice and slow to absolute insanity... I couldn't turn it, stop it or do anything. Even putting pressure on the spool didn't help. I just shook my head while the reel screamed like mad. Then I had to go buy more line, lol! I love chinnies!

Thermal hut makes a huge difference along with making sure it's sealed up with snow if possible.

Suffix 832 is garbage when it's warm out, god I hate that stuff. I can't even imagine using it on the ice. I'd probably try to stick my head in the hole and drown myself if that was the only line available.

St.Croix makes a nice ice rod, get the M/H 32 or 36in model. Perfect for lakers. I use a custom made one from the top section of a GLX float rod, lol.

Really? Wow, you sure it wasn't Nanofil? LOL! I've had Fireline shred, but not to the point of it ever breaking. Even with loads of ice in my guides.
