  1. You're right, cancel the entire sport, the fish are better left alone in entirety. Im sure the fishing and boating industry can survive off of people that fish 1 weekend a year during their vacation, that own one rod and fish with a bobber and a worm lol The money spent by tournament anglers doesnt help the local economy or generate tax revenue at all so lets just cancel everything. The tri-lakes are really short on numbers of largemouth. 🙄 You live in Canada...if you want to fish world class bass populations that see 0 angling pressure...drive 2.5 hours and fish them?
  2. I will be pm’ing you! I can literally be anywhere I’ll have a car and plan on travelling the entire island!
  3. Pretty straight forward, consider your tackle ie don’t be throwing a senko or flippin a jig for “crappies” if you catch, the expectation is that you release the fish immediately (NO PICTURES) and then move away. I fish pike in the early spring using swimbaits and obviously end up running into angry smallmouth, it’s unavoidable, the point is that if you find one you return it as quickly as possible and move on.
  4. i know someone that makes a couple hundred grand a year working for Mac cosmetics. Her job is to manage youtubers...
  5. you can fish any of the lakes around there https://www.ontario.ca/document/ontario-fishing-regulations-summary/fisheries-management-zone-15 From that page The following waterbodies have regulations that are very different from the Zone-wide season and limits and are only referred to in the waterbody exceptions: all waterbodies in Algonquin Park Bonnechere River Calabogie Lake Carmichael Lake Jack Lake Kushog Lake Lake Clear and Little Lake Clear Madawaska River Mud Lake Murphy’s Lake (Arabis Lake) Royal Lake Slipper Lake South Wildcat Lake Stocking Lake Stoney Lake Trout Lake Wendigo Lake
  6. Lots of good fishing to be done. The sound itself isn’t safe and isn’t iced over
  7. you are going to start getting calls from the military to build these things. You do a better job than bombardier
  8. You need 50,000 views for a video to start making money. Look at the views for the 39 hours series it’s just over 100k for every video. Aaron barely releases videos anymore because he doesn’t want to sell out that hard and doesn’t believe in releasing videos just for the sake of it. the pay rate is actually averages less than $5 per 1000 ad views. Aaron was living in his moms house until he got married. He also has released about a video a month average over the past year meaning he made $1,000 a month from YouTube...that’s hardly raking in the dough. He cares more about fishing and having the means to fish than making big dough. I’m thinking frostbite paid him more to put his name on their brand than he’s made the past few years off of YouTube. this set of 39 hours clearly was more organized sponsorship and monetarily wise. Hence the additional planning by all teams.
  9. I think for them it’s not about YouTube specifically. They aren’t in this to make money. You can tell weibe is making ends meet by his sponsorship deals which allow him to fish. Jay has a successful photography/media business, the Conrads are outdoor power equipment salesmen, taro, Paul and Eric are all guides and AP has business ventures such as fish frostbite and googan baits that are paying the bills. The YouTube stuff is all promo with a bit of cash incentive and definitely is not their primary income source. Hence they don’t just become a tv infomercial even though 39 hours is pushin kalin’s products pretty hard. taro told me the first 39 hours was just done as a favour for Aaron. He even admitted they never took it seriously because there really wasn’t any sponsorship and actually cost them money to do. It’s good promo for their guiding businesses
  10. But what the hell happened with the squirrel?!
  11. shes not nearly as quick as devil's Lund strapped with that big ass merc, but for an 18 foot boat shes fast enough to scare me lol. Chine walk when you dont have any more juice to push through it is about as scary as it gets when boating ahahaha, This boat gets on pad nicely and scoots pretty damn well when shes up on plane. ive got it to 56mph on the GPS but that was on the right day, the right load and me riding solo. When its tournament day with a partner and a boat full of gear she does between 49 and 52 dependent on conditions. Its a bass boat though so if im driving under 37 it rides like a snowplow. I drive it 40 any time im not tournament fishing, otherwise I cant afford the gas bill. She eats premium when shes opened up. Gotta love a big carbureted two stroke lol Skeeter makes a good hull, and considering I dont have a jack plate or a trim tab (this annoys me a lot, especially with how important trim is in a bass boat) ive spent enough time driving her now that I can get her going pretty good. I drive the boat by ear, I can tell where the sweet spot in the trim is by listening and feel and watching the GPS. The boat is scary at full throttle, It took me a while to get comfortable driving it that fast, when i first got it I couldnt do it. Im not a total maniac but ive spent my entire life driving stuff, snowmobiles, quads, boats etc. so I drive with a bit of an edge. Enough to scare my friends too sometimes but within reason. If you can believe it, 130 is underpowered shes rated for a 150! heres me scaring my buddies down on Santee Cooper catching some air lol
  12. The weather this year has really got me down. This in between state of no good ice, but also no open water is messing with me. If it’s gonna be winter at least let me go snowboarding and snowmobiling and ice fishing etc. there is nothing enjoyable about these 0 degree rain storms.
  13. I’ve got a family member that I think is going to take me cod jiggin. I’m excited to see gros morne but I’m a bit worried it will be mostly inaccessible due to snow. We shall see.
  14. good luck Nick hopefully the new job affords you the mental stability you are looking for. Im sure your kids and SO will appreciate it! Hopefully it affords you a bit more time to fish too!
  15. I’ve got a fair amount of time and a rental car I basically plan on driving from St. John’s to corner brook along the north end of the island. I have three days in Peterview to visit my girlfriends brother as well.
  16. Hey Guys, I just booked a trip to NL for a wedding commencing May 14th. Ive got about 8 days exploring the province to do and I am hoping that a few of those can be spent wetting a line. Ive got a rental car and am looking either for fishing opportunities or even the chance to stay at a lodge for a few days. Everything I seem to be reading keeps talking about the June atlantic run, but that leaves me SOL. I am also reading an absolute ton about river brookie fishing which obviously might be a better option considering the time of year and snow/ice that is sure to still be around on most lakes. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? Throw them at me. I know a few of you guys are from there as well, so if your brothers, son's uncles, line mates father in law knows a thing or two and you can get me his phone number I have no problem making a call. Ive also read about land locked salmon on grand lake near cornerbrook. Apparently thats hot in May and the lake doesnt ice well so its open. I am having difficulty finding a lodge/guides out that way as well as everything seems to direct me to hunting outposts. The biggest challenge is that it seems like most of the outfitters are hunting camps or want you to fly in andstay for an entire week which unfortunately is not an option. Any direction you can point me is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  17. This is my kinda thread, i could literally sit and look at boats all day. Keep em coming guys! This thread is really giving me the feels. This year on the ice has really had an impact on my psyche. Fishing really is my therapy, it dominates most of my thought patterns, i work during the week thinking about what kinda adventure on what lake will I get up to each weekend and this winter has not allowed that at all. I've managed to somewhat scrape some time together, but its never been good, I was only able to access one of my more preferred fishing spots for the first time this past weekend only to have the weather completely throw a stick in my spokes. I sit and think...man what I would give to be able to go out to my honey hole in my boat...Only 3 more months.... I realize i havent snapped a photo in a while need to get some new ones this year! Especially after I put new seats and a centre storage/step in! 98 Skeeter 140SS with a 130 Yamaha 2 stroke I recently have really been longing for one of those sunny quiet weekdays out on the lake. She can be a little temperamental in her old age lol. The Musky Rig and old faithful "Tinner Magic" 14 Foot Starcraft with a 1988 Suzuki 15
  18. I need that batter recipe for my walleye hawt damn man I’m tired of this iffy weather it’s driving me nuts
  19. Somehow those phones always manage to hit that 6 inch hole in the hut and never land anywhere but the bullseye few years back mine fell outta my bib, I watched it bounce between my feet and then take off like a rocket and slide 3 feet across the hut for a perfect hole in one. I’ve never made such a beauty shot in 20 years of golfing.
  20. I’m stealing this lol i agree about the smooth moves chair. I don’t need one personally but have ran chop in one and they are niceeeee those are some bloody big eyes
  21. This is horrific. It sounds like the group of tourists were relying on a guide for their safety. What the now deceased guide was doing leading them where they went we will never know. Perhaps he became disoriented or lost? Just an absolute perfect storm has cost a bunch of people their lives. its so shocking that it sounds like the tourists weren’t even fully aware of what was going on as it happened. They had their friends go through and disappear and they didn’t realize what had happened until they couldn’t get them on the phone hours later. wow just horrible.
  22. This is an insane deal for someone
  23. I guess you were up far north when they were in the late summer/fall this year? They posted a couple of video catching laketrout in 3 fow on the tundra. Pretty crazy stuff. The point about them not swearing, Aaron and Jay are actually very religious and christian. Jay talks about it a bit when he talks about how he met his wife. They dont like to swear or say Oh my god even! The other guys just agree to keep the videos G rated. I can assure you that Taro and Paul swear just like the rest of us lol. Cant wait for eppy 3 tonight!
  24. guys are walking on Kempenfelt from bear point towards barrie. between 3.5 and 6 inches of ice. Another mild stretch is about to hit unfortunately.
  25. jesus...feed that thing some damn ice would ya! its like a caged lion!
