  1. I’ve got a fair amount of time and a rental car I basically plan on driving from St. John’s to corner brook along the north end of the island. I have three days in Peterview to visit my girlfriends brother as well.
  2. Hey Guys, I just booked a trip to NL for a wedding commencing May 14th. Ive got about 8 days exploring the province to do and I am hoping that a few of those can be spent wetting a line. Ive got a rental car and am looking either for fishing opportunities or even the chance to stay at a lodge for a few days. Everything I seem to be reading keeps talking about the June atlantic run, but that leaves me SOL. I am also reading an absolute ton about river brookie fishing which obviously might be a better option considering the time of year and snow/ice that is sure to still be around on most lakes. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas? Throw them at me. I know a few of you guys are from there as well, so if your brothers, son's uncles, line mates father in law knows a thing or two and you can get me his phone number I have no problem making a call. Ive also read about land locked salmon on grand lake near cornerbrook. Apparently thats hot in May and the lake doesnt ice well so its open. I am having difficulty finding a lodge/guides out that way as well as everything seems to direct me to hunting outposts. The biggest challenge is that it seems like most of the outfitters are hunting camps or want you to fly in andstay for an entire week which unfortunately is not an option. Any direction you can point me is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  3. This is my kinda thread, i could literally sit and look at boats all day. Keep em coming guys! This thread is really giving me the feels. This year on the ice has really had an impact on my psyche. Fishing really is my therapy, it dominates most of my thought patterns, i work during the week thinking about what kinda adventure on what lake will I get up to each weekend and this winter has not allowed that at all. I've managed to somewhat scrape some time together, but its never been good, I was only able to access one of my more preferred fishing spots for the first time this past weekend only to have the weather completely throw a stick in my spokes. I sit and think...man what I would give to be able to go out to my honey hole in my boat...Only 3 more months.... I realize i havent snapped a photo in a while need to get some new ones this year! Especially after I put new seats and a centre storage/step in! 98 Skeeter 140SS with a 130 Yamaha 2 stroke I recently have really been longing for one of those sunny quiet weekdays out on the lake. 4. I need that batter recipe for my walleye hawt damn man I’m tired of this iffy weather it’s driving me nuts
  5. Somehow those phones always manage to hit that 6 inch hole in the hut and never land anywhere but the bullseye few years back mine fell outta my bib, I watched it bounce between my feet and then take off like a rocket and slide 3 feet across the hut for a perfect hole in one. I’ve never made such a beauty shot in 20 years of golfing.
  6. I’m stealing this lol i agree about the smooth moves chair. I don’t need one personally but have ran chop in one and they are niceeeee those are some bloody big eyes
  7. This is horrific. It sounds like the group of tourists were relying on a guide for their safety. What the now deceased guide was doing leading them where they went we will never know. Perhaps he became disoriented or lost? Just an absolute perfect storm has cost a bunch of people their lives. its so shocking that it sounds like the tourists weren’t even fully aware of what was going on as it happened. They had their friends go through and disappear and they didn’t realize what had happened until they couldn’t get them on the phone hours later. wow just horrible.
  8. I guess you were up far north when they were in the late summer/fall this year? They posted a couple of video catching laketrout in 3 fow on the tundra. Pretty crazy stuff. The point about them not swearing, Aaron and Jay are actually very religious and christian. Jay talks about it a bit when he talks about how he met his wife. They dont like to swear or say Oh my god even! The other guys just agree to keep the videos G rated. I can assure you that Taro and Paul swear just like the rest of us lol. Cant wait for eppy 3 tonight!
  9. guys are walking on Kempenfelt from bear point towards barrie. between 3.5 and 6 inches of ice. Another mild stretch is about to hit unfortunately.
  10. jesus...feed that thing some damn ice would ya! its like a caged lion!
  11. had to share because its rare these days when you buy something that it exceeds expectations especially to the point that I am blown away. This thing is a massive upgrade over my nautilus and I was concerned that I couldnt get one of that old quality anymore and now ive got a suit that I am even far more happier with. Hope I never end up needing the floatation component of it again!
  12. the fact that some people consider that thing to be a boat launch is insane lol
  13. just confirmed from instagram, you can call Calum 905-806-0443 "bear point and most of kempenfelt bay towards barrie has between 3.5 and 6" " he says give him a call to discuss
  14. an update on my suit situation for anyone who cares (probably no one) I ended up going with a Salus Odysee and outright, from Mustang, to nautilus/helly hansen, striker and FXR, this suit hands DOWN is the best suit IMO that I have seen/worn. Waterproof pockets, zipped fleece chest pockets, an internal vest for taking your arms out when its warm, a built in extraction harness, double cinched arm cuffs the list of features are nuts and the best feature of all? It was made in canada but $100 cheaper than the mustang and they 1 day fedexed it to me for free. I would highly highly highly recommend these suits to anyone in the market for one. Holy cow im actually blown away.
  15. yesterday. Callum Johnsons instagram has him standing on probably close to 4 inches of clear ice catching whities.
  16. Apparently the bear point boys are out catching whities walking.
  17. My 11 year old nephew also has this. It’s an allergy to the cold. He breaks out in hives if his skin is too exposed for too long. Sucks you’ve developed it later in life.
  18. I ended up going with a salus. I’m praying it’s warm enough! Haven’t got a chance to test it out yet. Definitely wanted something coast guard approved for riding in the boat in the fall
  19. As said above, Return it to the LC theres very possibly a problem with the bottle. Bowmore 12 sips way above its pay grade. Im also a fan of Auchentoshan 12 as well for those of us on a budget!
  20. sometimes we just get a lil too excited to ice fish ahhahaha I personally use Kast Gear steelhead gloves. They are truly fully waterproof which the seal skins are not. Dexterous enough to fish a baitcaster, spinning reel or fly fish with. Not sure if you are just looking for warm gloves for every day use but when im just trying to keep my hands warm, mitts do the job. Infact when i go late fall boating i wear mitts while driving the boat and then switch to gloves while i fish!
  21. if you dont have a floater and arent prepared to go in yourself, i have no idea how you get a dog out. I just ordered the Salus suit, the damn thing comes with a harness for extraction built into it! all i gotta do now is tie a rope to the harness and let my buddies haul my ass out lol
  22. If people knew the actual stats on how many people die on ski resorts each year, the bubble people probably wouldnt ski In Ontario its crashing and smackin your head that will get you, but its a regular thing out west for people to found dead stuck in tree wells etc etc. The resorts keep the details very tight lipped obviously due to the PR. I know for a fact during my years snowboarding on three separate occasions people have died on the hill while ive been snowboarding. When you think about it ive probably only snowboarded a few hundred days in my life meaning that the ratio is incredibly bad!
  23. The registration slip with my name on it says it is? Also registered it with transport canada too
