  1. isnt that the way it always is? Our official measured house record fish (dont get me started about the one i caught and my brother dropped back in the lake by accident) was caught on medium crucial with 8lb mono off of the dock lol.
  2. fished a few nights on forty creek, definitely caught a few on "buzzbaits"
  3. Im driving a 2014 Jetta TdI ahhh the good old days when i had a turboed protege...no o2 sensors, BOV's and big exhausts, helps to know some friendly mechanics lol.
  4. lol the gawker comments are fanastic, one serious comment is that although a fish died, the father and daughter bonded at the expense of the fish ahahhaa Fishing with my nephews is the best, proud to say that I will ensure that I will be the uncle that every single one of my nephews and nieces first fish will be caught with.
  5. http://gawker.com/little-girl-reels-in-huge-bass-with-barbie-fishing-poll-1732944129 I bet all of you megabass JDM guys are crying even harder than I am.
  6. who else here is affected by the VW diesel issue...i sure am.
  7. jesus this is a terrifying thought, im not gonna lie that ive wielded a very large butcher knife when i heard a noise from the basement of my house. (a picture frame fell off of the wall and smashed) If confronted there is no doubt in my mind I would use whatever is available to me to inflict damage or intimidate intruder, including a gun if available. I cant believe this has happened to you twice manitou, ill tell you i wouldnt have been as nice to hit the person in the shins, their face would probably be a bit rearranged.
  8. as a rule of thumb the bass fishing on pigeon/buckhorn has been fantastic for numbers this year but really tough on size. One of my best friends has fished buckhorn/pigeon close to 100 days this summer and hasnt caught a bass over 4 yet which is unheard of. I spent a couple weekends on buckhorn/pigeon this year and we caught a whole pile LM , but not one over 3.5. Numbers were somewhere close to 100 over 2 days. The walleye fishing this year specifically has been really good, lots and lots of eaters, we were catching them on crankbaits on shoals. they were even hitting plastics. As far as musky goes, ill let you know! ill be most likely on pigeon this weekend for skis with pete!
  9. Uncut Angling recently fished Eagle lake, with the local bait shop owner saying, we can fish Lake of the woods and catch a 50, or we can fish eagle and catch a 55+ sure enough they caught a 56.
  10. go green, at least they care about the lakes you fish on.
  11. all i have to say is that I hope every single person who posts in this thread or even reads it gets out and votes! if you dont vote, you are not only giving up your most important charter right, you are also an idiot
  12. all i hear is, create another bogus government run program that actually has no substance what so ever except to waste gun owners and tax payer's time and money.
  13. Ignorance is bliss I guess, so many hockey players, so many drinking and drug problems, and so much promiscuity. Its the dark side of proffesional sports that only rears its head so often, but even then some of the greats have fallen in a lot of sports. You think the whole crap thats going on in LA is a one off case? Ill make a point that you can usually tell which guys are the ones that get involved with all of that garbage vs the ones that keep a clean nose (per say) and work their butts off.
  14. the story about your pup and lilly brought a tear to my eye...i hope i can pay similar respect to my buddy when his time comes
  15. hey manitou, without spreading more information than youd like to, i was wondering what your situation started out like with your wife. I.e. I dont think im entirely clear on your status vs your wife? Did you grow up on the island/reserve or did you come back to it, or perhaps you are living on the reserve because your wife is full status? or maybe you are both full status and have been there your entire lives? just curious as i find your "process" very interesting and inspirational. Even more special is from what it sounds like that you have strayed but come back to being at peace with the world. I sometimes really struggle to describe the personal connection that I have with nature and in a lot of ways envy your way of doing things. I think in a lot of ways I totally understand the connection your culture maintains with nature and our surroundings and feel that its unfortunate that a white kid like me can really only maintain that appreciation and understanding individually. Pretty sure id be thrown in the loonie bin if someone saw me laying tobacco lol.
  16. its amazing what happens when you give a bunch of boys a pile of money and fame...they feel like the rule the world. Id argue Hockey is one of the worst sports for behaviour of its athletes. Considering that unlike football and basketball where a large majority of players grew up in really rough environments, most hockey players have suburban parents carting them around in luxury SUV's to games their whole childhood. They then get taken away from school and home at 16 to go play hockey for the rest of their lives...you end up with a bunch of 25 year olds with 16 year old sensibilities and way too much money running around. I have stories about teams and players from my best friend that are just ridiculous. (he worked at a bar that visiting teams in Ottawa always frequented)
  17. i have to laugh about this discussion about gun shots... You live in Toronto and you hear gun shots, you are ducking for cover and calling the police. Last weekend I heard a high powered rifle go off very close by, and my first thought was...hmm i wonder what he shot? (yes whoever it was is not supposed to be shooting rifles south of the french but who cares) Also can anyone confirm that I saw a timberwolf in the pointe au baril area? Is this possible? I know these animals typically are further north, but I was snowmobiling last winter deep in the bush and sure enough an absolutely massive wolf was on the trail, it quickly moved back into the bush, but it definitely was no coyote, this thing was easily 100lbs.
  18. lol there is no detering someone who thinks that cleaning a fish in a friggin portopotty is a good idea, even if you are only stealing the roe... a special kind of person thinks spending any time in a porto potty is a good idea lol.
  19. after riding around in my friend's smokercraft, ill never buy one...the thing feels like you are getting in a car crash with every ripple you hit.
  20. according to an acquaintance who is a marine biologist for the MNR, there are no "wild" salmon in lake Ontario at all. There is far too much sediment in the rivers caused by run off to properly spawn in any of the rivers. The area is far to populous. The story about the volleyball net is insane.
  21. im most excited to watch some very very talented young players build their game. There will be flashes of brilliance for sure, some of nylander's highlights from rookie camp are unbelievable...it will be interesting to see how much of that he can bring into the NHL.
  22. 1991 Suzuki DT15C Solo with gear 32kph with fishing partner 21kph
  23. can we get a thread name change please admin???
  24. simple solution using critical mass every person that is Ticked off about this situation, should go out and collect 1lb of rice, or at least make an effort to destroy his crops... if everyone gangs up on it, the problem is solved. The guy can say you are destroying his crops, but whos crops are they if they are planted on water...What is the guy going to do, press charges against 1000 people? If this guy tried to do this on my bay, id be out there dragging a sickle a couple hours a day. I personally think this guys an idiot...he knows bloody well what hes doing and hes using his status as a shield of sorts, its pretty pathetic. Theres a proper way to go about things in order to avoid problems and hes simply making noise just to make noise. Ill also point out that an absolutely huge section of upper buckhorn and curve lake is beside the reserve...these areas are mostly barren of any structures or peoples cottages. If the guy wanted to plant rice in there, people would maybe still upset but his argument would be way more valid. Instead this dink goes and plants rice in south pigeon infront of everyones cottages. This reminds me of the story of when some status guys tried to say that it was their right to string a gill net across byng inlet during the walleye run...lets just say a few anchors were towed and (rumour has it some shots were fired) but that never happened again. I feel bad for the native guys that try make an honest living, this kind of garbage just makes a lot of noise and I am sure makes it worse off for everyone.
