being on georgian bay, i can honestly say that these cold winters have had 2 effects on the lake both positive and negative. The positive is that the cold winters have locked up the lake and "stopped the drop" weve recovered almost 4 feet of water in 2 years...what this has meant is that the spawning areas are absolutely chalked up with vegetation and protection, last spring i was chasing crappies and we were seeing fish up in the trees in the bush because everything had flooded. Good luck to any predators getting into the forest to hunt the spawn. The negative has been that warmer water species fish are clearly taking a beating. Traditionally ive got some good producing largemouth spots in the PAB area, but with the winters that we had, the largies clearly took a massive beating. I caught the only two largemouth that anyone caught all year at my house and after talking to the MNR every weekend (they had some guys doing a study all year last year and stopped me over 10 times this year to do their study on me) they said that in total they reported 4 people catching largemouth bass the entire summer!

totally agree that the great lakes are like cheating when it comes to multi species angling. The frigging guys catch a tiger musky by accident lol ridiculous I think of my days fishing in manitoba, we caught ling, walleye, pike, perch, lakers, suckers and whiteys...and that was pretty much it. Meanwhile on Georgian bay, to catch walleye, perch, pike, smallmouth, largemouth, bullhead, white bass, bowfin, gar, salmon, lake trout, ciscoe, crappie etc etc etc could literally be done in a 20 square kilometer radius in one day...no joke. I do expect the manitoba and saskatchewan boys to catch an absolutely monster pike and walleye. Im also really hoping manitoba gets a mooneye just because.

Start watching uncut angling...he makes a point of not pumping his products, hes only using what he uses because it actually works. He rarely points out that he is using a specific bait and will even complain about certain products if he thinks they are too expensive, and will suggest alternatives to save money.

been a major uncut fan for a while, so this series has got me pumped. ive been so busy lately i havent been able to catch up, but the first ep is awesome. A lot of people hate weib cause hes a dweeb but I find him pretty funny and probably the best fishing show host out there. The guy gives the straight dope and would rather live in his mom's basement than sell out.

ive fished a few mornings in -35, I had one lucky day at 35 below without a single wisp of breeze and it was actually really neat to be out on the lake and we didnt even need a shelter because it was easy to stay warm in the sun. those are some fat fish, thanks for sharing.

ive gone to this area twice and fished once. While snorkelling in akumal I definitely saw lots of fish so I am sure something would bite shore fishing off of the beach, however not much in the way of bigger game fish. I did see people fishing of the docks in Aventuras, just tossing a hunk of meat on a hook and catching a few fish. Not sure if its in your budget of time and cost, but I did a guided trip out of the south end of cancun where my guide drove me up for an 8 hour trip around isla blanca and it was unbelievable. The guide put me on Tarpon, snapper, barracuda and permit, not to mention the scenery was unbelievable. let me know if you want any information about my trip there.

i wish the homies were out last friday on 5 inches of ice...guys are sledding and got the shacks out in pointe au baril now...poor me looking at the webcam right now on the main harbour and seeing sleds chillin out in the harbour...ughh

basically these kinds of things make me depressed because i quickly realize that I will literally never own a new fishing boat in my entire life. Pretty sure when my dad bought our glasstron in 93 he paid a quarter of what a boat costs now.

what about impact driver vs standard drill...ive got both...what would you recommend?

i might change my reports from a annual to a semi annual because now i feel bad lol. I could just throw in more photos of crappier fish ahaha. Its true though, with the fly in reports it feels dumb to post anything that isnt trophy caliber, even my buddies and I have rules about what deserves a pic lol. I guess i could just be less selective and post more of my nature photos too!

id call your MPP as well, they will usually help you out. send some emails etc.
