  1. after riding around in my friend's smokercraft, ill never buy one...the thing feels like you are getting in a car crash with every ripple you hit.
  2. according to an acquaintance who is a marine biologist for the MNR, there are no "wild" salmon in lake Ontario at all. There is far too much sediment in the rivers caused by run off to properly spawn in any of the rivers. The area is far to populous. The story about the volleyball net is insane.
  3. im most excited to watch some very very talented young players build their game. There will be flashes of brilliance for sure, some of nylander's highlights from rookie camp are unbelievable...it will be interesting to see how much of that he can bring into the NHL.
  4. 1991 Suzuki DT15C Solo with gear 32kph with fishing partner 21kph
  5. can we get a thread name change please admin???
  6. simple solution using critical mass every person that is Ticked off about this situation, should go out and collect 1lb of rice, or at least make an effort to destroy his crops... if everyone gangs up on it, the problem is solved. The guy can say you are destroying his crops, but whos crops are they if they are planted on water...What is the guy going to do, press charges against 1000 people? If this guy tried to do this on my bay, id be out there dragging a sickle a couple hours a day. I personally think this guys an idiot...he knows bloody well what hes doing and hes using his status as a shield of sorts, its pretty pathetic. Theres a proper way to go about things in order to avoid problems and hes simply making noise just to make noise. Ill also point out that an absolutely huge section of upper buckhorn and curve lake is beside the reserve...these areas are mostly barren of any structures or peoples cottages. If the guy wanted to plant rice in there, people would maybe still upset but his argument would be way more valid. Instead this dink goes and plants rice in south pigeon infront of everyones cottages. This reminds me of the story of when some status guys tried to say that it was their right to string a gill net across byng inlet during the walleye run...lets just say a few anchors were towed and (rumour has it some shots were fired) but that never happened again. I feel bad for the native guys that try make an honest living, this kind of garbage just makes a lot of noise and I am sure makes it worse off for everyone.
  7. aha! putting the pieces together, hmm the winter sky does seem so much darker and maybe this is why. Ive seen the sky one evening so clear and dark that the stars began to feel like a cieling, it was actually astonishing, the entire sky gave the feeling of roundness with consistent brightness in the stars right down to the horizon line. Awesome photo none the less.
  8. Halloween is like prime time fishing for walleye...its the one time of year that i consistently catch them on GB. The goodness usually starts begining of october, peaks at halloween and then trails off as november runs, by early december it can be much slower.
  9. umm KC won last night ? The beautiful thing about having a lead and not trying to chase? You can afford to win 2-5 against the yankees and still lead them. Keep on rollin boys!
  10. I think this is a time where we can all sit back and take time to remember that there are always going to be that 1 idiot that ruins it for everyone. I think the sentiment on this board 99.9% of the time is that your posts are appreciated and a joy to read. Dont let some idiot bring you down, the clown doesnt know what he is talking about anyways. Ill also mention that I have never felt like your posts are an ad, and if they were they would be pretty crappy ads that point out the fact that fishing may not have been the best at times, or that you struggled on another day etc. Most "ads" dont point out any negativity.
  11. the old smallie equation this time of year is still one I am learning myself. Tough to find and deep doesnt make for simple fishing. As far as your snag and breaking line issues, try heavier test or just go with braid. I honestly only notice a minor difference between fishing braid vs a fluro leader...its probably more a confidence thing anyways. Practice being patient with snags..when you get one let the line go slack and dont set the hook. slowly work around it continously letting it go completely slack eventually it will come out the way it went in. glad you got out there, 30 bass even if they are small still makes for a fun time. Sometimes the size just isnt there. Next time try fish 30-40 FOW and dont expect non stop action! the wait can be more worth it.
  12. lol turns out frank lives very close to my friend. small world!
  13. whicked picture Bill, you should take one next time you are up in the winter, i always find the sky is exponentially darker mid jan- feb
  14. I would suggest a line counter, or even using tracer braid. If you are in 15 FOW you will see bottom on a clear lake for sure.
  15. I know a few of you guys are bird watchers. A buddy of mine in Mississauga has had a group of about 10 of these strange looking birds hanging around his front lawn for a couple of days. I have tried everything to try identify them but am coming up empty. Anyone else have any clue what the heck these are.
  16. are you fishing moon river? Im just saying from personal experience, I fish GB 25+ out of 52 weeks in a year and still have only ever seen one musky. meanwhile ive fished lower buckhorn 5 times in my entire life and caught a small musky. GB to me is not a place to go to target musky unless you plan on putting in a lot of hours and knowing exactly what you are doing.
  17. early morning's ive been tossing top waters on shoals in 15-20 FOW surrounded by 40+ and its been productive...aside from that im drop shotting in 30 FOW keep the presentation finesse and minimal.
  18. This is Bull hate to say it but GB muskies are like fishing for ghosts, you might sight 1 or 2 in your life. Ive been fishing GB for 10 years and have only seen one musky, and it wasnt me or anyone in my boat catching it. Not to mention ive been fishing big pike tossing musky baits for 2 years and put way more than 40 hours in and havent even seen a fish ever.
  19. perhaps some of the other guys here can back me up, but to put it in perspective, ive fished probably close to 60+ hours in the shallows running spinner baits, top water and cranks this year chasing pike and hoping to get the odd largie and ive only managed two so far this year and one was less than a pound, in comparison to 60+ pike and the numerous smallies ive caught this year. i wouldnt call GB in the parry sound area a great LM fishery. If you want to chase fish in gin clear water, find a shoal surrounded by deep water and drop a drop shot, you will catch smallies, and they will be big.
  20. I love seeing that a guy as spoiled as you :tease:is still able to get fired up about catching big fish.
  21. hey Ohio, I guess its been a while for you, but kenlea is shut down as far as i am aware. The place hasnt been open for a while. its pretty decrepit these days, infact i toss the odd weedless set up amognst their old broken docks and lifts and have pulled out pike from them Id suggest camping at sturgeon bay campground. Only operation now in the area is pleasant cove resort. which is out of your price range. As an FYI the water isnt gin clear in PAB until you get out past barclay island...all of the water inland from barclay is tea stained due to the vegitation and soil on the bottom of the lake. The areas outside of barclay do not contain soil, hence the water remains very very clear. As far as LMB fishing, GB is not neccesarily the place to go to catch largies...id go to the kawarthas to catch largies...if you want smallies though, Not many places beat GB's smalie fishery. (yes all you lake erie guys can sit out in a field and fish smallies, ill stick to the beauty landscape of GB to catch my smallies thank you very much)
  22. FYI Internet exploder is no longer supported by Microsoft. Hence your problems are going to increase over time as IE doesnt update to keep up with the internet of today. Please change to firefox or chrome...for the love of humanity.
  23. I caught a pike this weekend with similar colouration, not as neon, but definitely blue approaching light green. Something is definitely up...? is this just a normal occurance, or is there something causing this?
  24. brian's avatar makes me laugh in a funny and good way...no hate though, i love the toon with the canadian flag.
  25. Friday morning on the water with new gear to test out...oh yessss
