Reminds me of the time a group of 6 at the causeway launch on chemong decided that the most appropriate way to launch their dinghy was to offload it off the top of their car and onto the boat ramp. Fine whatever, but then rather than launching they just shuffled it slightly to the side while they proceeded to load their gear into it and stand around it If you have used this launch you will know that the approach is at a 90 degree angle, so sure enough I’m swinging the boat in and I realize that it’s impossible to not hit the dinghy and their fishing rods that are all sticking out of it. i make eye contact with one of the 6 and say, excuse me can you move that thing off of the ramp…stunned, no reaction what so ever from the group. I then proceed to back the trailer right up to the dinghy slowly hoping that one of the group will surely notice that I’m about to hit the thing, there are 4 of them standing right there after all…nope. I give up, I proceed to get out of my truck with my buddy, we walk up the dinghy. Pick it up and literally physically carry the dinghy to an appropriate place out of the frigging way and seemingly the crew continues their conversation in their mother tongue as if we don’t even exist. They literally don’t even look at us as we are standing 2 feet away from them picking up their boat and carrying it. i go back and finish launching and they carry on as though absolutely nothing happened.

So it is a glass boat, what an interesting lay out, I don’t know if ive ever seen anything like it. It’s almost like the designer couldn’t decide if he wanted a bass boat, tiller or deep V lol no joke, get yourself a high speed polisher and some mcguiars polishing compound and go quickly over that thing and then finish it off with a title wax hybrid solutions ceramic coat it will shine like brand friggin new. You will literally be blown away by the results.

Dirt and dust are easily taken care of. Good for you for being able to get into the market even during this economy/market. I’ve spent the last 7 months cleaning up my new to me boat as well. Of course she’s thrown a few curveballs at me already, batteries, winch strap, a trolling motor rewire, but that’s part of what makes you feel like the boat is yours. I remember the first time I saw my boat vs what it’s like now, a little TLC and now my boat turns heads as I drive down the highway! the shape/layout of this boat looks really intriguing, almost west coast meets bass boat. Care to share some pics of the interior when you get err vacuumed and scrubbed out. a recommendation after reading into it for a while, simple green extra strength (the purple stuff) and a scrub brush makes any boat interior look new. If you have carpet at all scrub on a diagonal and it brings old carpet totally back to life.

If there is one thing that the US lakes get right, it’s their access to water. Every lake has multiple public launches. This greed is getting outrageous. It’s not as if the launch/parking lot isn’t paid for by the local ratepayers anyways. At minimum if you pay taxes locally you should be exempt from being charged for accessing your own park.

pick up an old stradic, get it serviced or do it yourself and have a reel for the rest of your life

still stop in peterborough pro tackle every single time im in town. I think the traditional tackle stores are dead because they are not specialized enough. You arent going to get far if your competing to sell canadian tire tackle with canadian tire. The way to survive is to cater to the crowd that takes fishing to another level, which is the exact business model of a peterborough pro tackle or a gagnons.

I’m gonna say, stay the hell away from evinrude Johnson no matter what. we’ve already had one board member now confirm that parts for them are an issue with them no longer being in business. Stay clear. also, you don’t go out of business making great products…

i wouldnt eat anything out of there though...I worked for the town of halton hills once upon a time, that lake is gross lol. Also can confirm island lake allows electric only motors

pike opens the second saturday in May on island lake. (before venturing into any new water, always read the regs!) You will catch a bunch of perch and small panfish probably fishing with bobbers and worms. For something more exciting learn how to cast spoons to catch pike. The fish this time of year will be moving towards the warmest water closest to the deeper parts of the lake. If you are into getting serious about fishing, Id suggest just doing a load of googling about how to target whatever species you are looking to catch. Its a life long learning process that gets more and more detailed the more serious you take it. You can decide to be a worm and bobber fisherman and that suits some people just fine to go out in a boat toss out a worm and wait for a bite while relaxing, or you step your game up a bit and make things more involved, but also some would argue have more fun doing it. Or you can be stupid like me and spend all of your expendable income to stare at panoptix for 8 hours straight chasing laketrout around. I was also once a kid throwing spoons for pike from a tinner too. We all start somewhere. Let us know how you fare!

i have been to all of the aforementioned lakes either ice fishing or in a raft to fish. Mountsberg is weedy and can get muddy but theres fish in there. Island lake is also weedy but loaded with fish. You cant not catch snot rockets there. There's even some over 30 fish in there too, i know because I have caught them. My tournament partner caught a 5+ largie there a couple of years ago as well. Island lake has a boat launch, mountsberg I do not recall there being one.

Yamaha, suzuki or honda Pay now, or pay anyways but also get a headache or stranded

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again buy your fishing gear from Peterborough pro tackle. Support local stores, and get people that ship items quick, will stand behind what they sell while supporting the community.

You are going to make money and end up in a bigger boat. This is 100% worth it

someone here suggested being limited in what you tell border patrol, I’m going to recommend the complete opposite. documentation and honesty were absolutely key when I crossed the border while it was still closed! (Yes I did that) my story was so pure, honest, my paperwork so organized, the border agents couldn’t help but take me up on my request for exception to enter the United States on the basis of conducting legal commerce. I used their literal wording from the law itself when I requested entry. they wanted to know every little detail, who my seller was, where he lived, why he was selling this boat to me, why not buy a boat in canada, what was the structure of our transaction, how much I was paying etc etc. and I answered every question honestly with full conviction. I don’t know where you live specifically, hopefully in the gta? A day trip down to Buffalo is in reality nothing if it means you get to buy that boat for $2,000. it’s not different IMO then me saving 10+ grand on my boat by buying from a guy in New York. Obviously 100% worth it. make sure you check if Ohio is a “title state” if it is you will need to complete a title search on the trailer and show proof of clean title! you will also need to complete the exception for the trailer from the trailer inspection component. start reading! There’s a few pieces of documentation you are going to need in order to import that trailer you can get them all online. It takes some time but it’s not that bad. go figure, kindness and honesty will break down even the most hardened border agent. The guys absolutely grilled me and acted like tough guys right up until the moment that they decided to let me in. The guy that interviewed me inside US customs came out and said “go get your boat and make sure you leave immediately, have fun”

Beware of the fake power pro, fake vision 110’s and basically fake everything on Ali express. It’s all junk. although I think I recently saw reels for like $8…heck of the thing doesn’t break instantly you’ve got a great starter for the kid in your life that will inevitably drop it in the lake or off of the dock. as mentioned above, gas is $2 a litre…why worry about spending $7 on real gamakatsu’s

This should actually be very straight forward. get them to write you out a bill of sale and provide the title documentation. You are going to need a way for them to hand you the ownership slip for the trailer too. A trip down to Ohio might be in order simply to get the paperwork together. or you courier it to you. The challenge here is that there is a rule for boats that are brought over the border the responsibility for importing the boat is placed on the person that drives it over the border no matter what. I know this because I played with the idea that my seller could bring the boat into cansda and then I would take it through the importation process. Customs would not let that fly unfortunately. this is such a weird scenario your best bet may be to call customs and ask for their advice. To start you want to be able to tell customs that you have 100% of the appropriate paperwork ready to go, you just don’t know what procedure to take in regards to completing the importation of the boat. it may end up being so stupid that you will have to drive down to the states with the boat pretending that you are delivering the boat back to them. Then subsequently turning around and driving back into cansda with it and the paper work to complete the importation process. id hope customs would make an exception, but they are so weird, just driving the boat over the border and back might be the fail safe method od going about this. call customs though they pick up and are willing to chat, I did it before importing my boat last fall when I had questions about the best way to get the boat over the border while restrictions for Canadians were still in place. also, even at $2200 if the boat has been in storage for 3 years without being winterized or covered, make sure you go see the boat before you buy. The lower end could be destroyed, and mice could have absolutely torn up the interior depending on how it was stored. I’m also scared of a motor with a quarter tank of ethanol gas sitting in it for 3 years. That could also spell massive issues. an 06 merc I’m assuming 2 stroke? Should be ok just make sure you don’t end up paying $8,000 in repairs on top of your purchase price because that’s not going to be such a great deal when all is said and done. don’t forget, the tax man will also be calling when you import the boat. Hopefully the trailer is an 06 too and you will be exempt from doing the trailer inspection crap as well. Just something else to factor in

boats are enough of a headache as it is, if just getting stuff to fix them is an additional headache I know what direction id be headed towards.

i guess it really is going to get more and more difficult to service Evinrude/BRP motors now.

rebuilt the hydraulics on my 98 yamaha 130...the only special tool needed was to open the caps on the ram seals. you can buy the wrench head on amazon. The one I got was adjustable, it wasnt as easy as the ones literally specifically made for opening your particular model of motor but so what it still worked. I was able to find the full set of whatever seals I felt like replacing on boats.net. You shouldnt need to replace the entire assembly thats insane. It was literally no more than 10 rubber gaskets of various sizes and that was all. You can search for parts by your engine part number. The job was really straight forward and youtube helps a ton. Open up the rams, Suck out/absorb as much of the old fluid as you can. pull the rams, replace the seals on them with new ones, put them back in and close it up, then follow some of the youtube videos on how to refill your boats hydraulic fluid. Shops literally use synthetic power steering fluid that you can buy at canadian tire. Also very straight forward, my trick because i was doing it from empty was to blip the trim to pump fluid a bit to get some pressure built up as i went through the process of filling the reservoir again. Replacing the actual trim motor was really easy, 5 bolts and unplug it...plug it back in and put the bolts back in. I got my new motor, it was clearly 3d printed by a shop in Michigan, its pretty much just an electric coil, nothing fancy about that at all. If you are mechanically inclined at all you can do the job yourself. If you really are hopeless, someone would do it for you for less than 3 grand, heck ill do it for you for a heck of a lot less than that as long as you can get the parts. Someone has to be making those rubber seals still, they dont need to be made by bombardier/BRP thats for sure. Replacing the entire trim assembly because you have a few bad seal would be like putting a new axle, transmission and differential in your car because you need new tires lol Post your Exact engine model number (it will be on the outboard) and I will search to find what you need for you.
