  1. Princess Auto has a 3 1/2 and I'm sure I saw a 6" somewhere.
  2. Terry, you've just shot yourself in the foot, if your wires need replacing, replace them, if your choke doesn't work right, get it fixed, maybe some people need a battery the size of a Terex truck cause their motor is a POJ.
  3. Not often I'll disagree with Big Cliff, but, if your motor "decides" it doesn't feel like starting, then it's a motor problem, not a battery problem. You could have the best battery in the world, if your motor is out of tune, a piece of ill maintained junk, then don't fault the battery, fault yourself for failing to maintain it. I will agree that taking care of batteries can make them last a loooong time.
  4. What does your manual say? You can stick enough "D" cells together, they will start it too. Manual, not the mexican, the book for the motor. Bass Pro, Canadian Tire, Wallymart, Costco and a pile of other places DON'T make batteries, they just sell batteries with their respective stickers obtained from one of the 3 big battery manufactures. Once you figure out what size you need, made sure the put in service date is relatively close to the buying date, ie, not covered with an inch of store dust. Makes you wonder how long the last batch of marine batteries has been sitting on the shelf.
  5. Aluminum studs? I'll buy aluminum wheels/rims, but not studs. I think your Toque is Torqued on too tight,
  6. Nope, not at all, I keep my batteries on a VDC electronic high frequency charger all winter(from taking them out of the boat or RV to putting them back in service), these chargers only put out a tiny amount, not meant for charging a battery from dead, just maintenance. Maybe I should have said "let the comedy at the boat launch commence" and here's how I prevent it happening to me. The Gp24 battery has a 4-3 tag, bought in April of 2003 and that's why I took it in this morning to see if it was still trustworthy, when the Wallymart guy saw the tag he was surprised it was still in that good a condition. I had one other battery that finally died last year, it was from '98. So, just saying, take care of and inspect your kit and it may save you some grief.
  7. Would have been a piece of parking lot pizza.
  8. It never fails, you always see someone unload the boat in the water, jump in, turn the key and click-click or a bit of no-no-no from the battery, a bunch of cursing a swearing. Off to Wallymart with the boat battery, see the man in the automotive section, can you please do a load test on this one, comes back, Gp24, 455/500 CCA at 5C. So that's about 90% for a 7 year old battery. So much for the naysayers about Wallymart neverstarts. Next, check anchor and tie lines, do the lights work(trailer too), shine up all connectors, boat plug & spare. Check tires and spare, torque wheel nuts, etc. .
  9. Handy dandy motor toter, I had a set of old BBQ wheels on my old one with fold down arms(like a wheelbarrow), no point in making the back ache. Good idea for posting.
  10. Here's a start: For the application of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) to the supply of a new or used boat, please contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) by calling 1‑800‑959‑8287. Additionally, Provincial Sales Tax (PST) may need to be paid to the provincial/territorial government. You should contact your provincial/territorial Ministry of Finance to get more information on how to remit the PST. For links to provincial/territorial departments of finance, business service centres, and other tax and financial services please visit the related provincial and territorial Canada Revenue Agency page
  11. Maybe TJ or Rick could give us a rough amount what it costs to run the board monthly/annually and go from there. There would always be those that would pee and moan, but over the years I've enjoyed this site far beyond any of the others.
  12. Yes waaay tooo much salt, apple and alder wood chips.
  13. CTC also has/had a small utility trailer that could be converted with the tongue extension and bunks, didn't cost all that much. you should also check your area Craigslist and Kijiji and buy & sell.
  14. Cudos to you Randy for getting the ball rolling, make sure to get that card photo copied and from where it was issued in case it's lost.
  15. Time to go beach combing, never know what you might find.
  16. Thanks for the reply. Only from a personal feeling, there are some youngsters(age) who by virtue of their being exposed to the outdoors, can function and understand the seriousness of their actions when handing equipment such as boats. If he is shows that, and takes the precautions that he is shown and understands that, I would go out on a limb and let him enjoy some of the little things he finds pleasure in. Good luck.
  17. Randy, not to be nosey, but how does he communicate, simple yes/no answers, point to picture answers? Does he understand well? If so I'll bet that someone can be his aid during the test, PM me if you don't want to post the answers, maybe this can help others in the same dilema.
  18. From what I can see in the second picture, it appears the console is mounted on top of a bench seat, correct? If so, remove that, buy or build yourself a 1/2 console. The steering is no problem, if its the clothline steering, junk that and get the teleflex single tube version from Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/pod-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276-cat21322_TGP&rid=&indexId=cat21322&navAction=push&masterpathid=&navCount=1&parentType=index&parentId=cat21322&id=0001247 I would not remove the other bench seat either, it's part of structural integrity, regardless if you replace with a full floor or not. A friend tried to make a "walk through" the hull promptly split from wabbling wave action.
  19. Well whatever you did must have had an effect on the other items that were "broken". The add reply, report, multi quote and edit are in the right place and no longer split in pieces along the bottom of the page, thanks for all your efforts. We all owe you an ultra sized Timmy with a couple of tractor wheels.
  20. I'm going to have to do that from the home puter, the work one doesn't allow screen print for whatever reason. Work & home both run XP Pro.
  21. I've tried every possible combination, no luck, is there a way to copy the screen,(show you what I'm seeing) and send it to you?
  22. 1024 x 768, I've tried a couple of others along wit cooky delete, no change
  23. Ya, avatar shrinks and so does the whole font in the message, now I need binoculars to read the text.
  24. Ya, beginning to wonder what I have to do, now the avatars take up 1/3 of the space inside each post on the left side.
  25. My mouse is laying rubbber in forward and reverse, no change, oh well back to work.
