Screaming lines, smokin' reels and rods bent like a big C. Long gone are those years, unfortunately and probably never to return.

There are such things as jack plates that afford some height adjustment. Most 14' boats usually come with a 15" transom, give or take an inch. Measure twice, buy once. They show one here: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_1148____SearchResults

Having a sharp eye on things is good, now if I'm not mistaken, there may be something missing from the picture..how about a secondary tie down at the front of the boat, such as a piece of chain with a sturdy snap hook or threaded chain link, wouldn't want to pull another Barrie PS special.

Long before you ever held a fishing rod, we had salmon in the Notty as early as mid June with the probable "average" year starting about the 2nd week of August with multiple runs coming every week until the end of September, then the rainbow runs would start.

If you check some of the RV sites, you'll quickly learn that most hard core battery users don't go below 50% capacity, it really sucks the juice out of them, better to have a pair or more and tax them less. Always recharge as soon as possible and get yourself one of those CTEK chargers, you can leave them hooked up all winter with no overcharging. Distilled water only, just to the bottom of the slot in the filler holes.

And where's the signal on the Meaford peninsula, Telus still working with tin cans and cotton thread or have they upgraded to nylon cord yet? -

Retired serviceman and now work in Borden and make sure everyone plays by the rules on the live ranges and training areas, and, as a bonus, watch the live critters in my travels, by truck, ATV or Skidoo..and they pay me for that. Best job I ever had. -
Ah, about $25-30, your local battery shop will carry them.
-
Well, there's two sides to every story and in actual fact, there were larger batteries made that were a mix of AA and C cells. Anyone that ever did any time in the Service(Army) will remember that when your AM/FM radio or electric shaver died, you would crack open a PRC77 or 524 Radio set battery, there are about 12 C cells and 12 AA cells in it, just wired together, one side for the receiver, the other for the transmitter.

What, that never happens to me, only the other guy..definitely a good idea to have a spare bearing set and tools to replace them on the road.
-
Take your handy voltmeter and see what the actual resting voltage is, maybe the battery is borderline toast, and make sure the battery is correctly connected.
-
First step is to get the shop manual for your specific motor, it should have the schematics of the wiring and values and how to do the diagnostic with a VOM, save you money with replacing only the required parts.

You can use the same lures, NK's silver Foxes, etc, 40-50ft or longer leads off the cannon ball dragged close to the bottom. Some drag or bounce their c/balls of the bottom, not something I do or would advise, it can be costly if you get hung up. Go to the north shore around the 14th of Oro, slow, slow trolling. -
It simply means you will have a much longer period of use of the motor from the battery. Pulse technology turns the motor "on and off" at a very high rate, not perceivable to us, but uses a lot less battery power. Don't forget to recharge the battery after each day of use, regardless of how little or how long you used it.

Wash the drag disks in alcohol or naphtha..no smoking.

If it's not aluminum, it may be that other type such as a white pot metal, it can be welded as said above, you can get the "welding rods from Princess Auto and maybe CTC, it only takes a good propane torch to do the job, the only thing, it must be cleaned by sandpaper or stainless brush, no brass or steel brush, it will contaminate the surface.

I've heard of a number of poeple that have had problems with Magellan products, keypads going bad and not covered by warranty or just plain bad service from Magellan. I would go with Garmin or Lowrance.

Has anybody ever done this before??

Well I suppose everyone has to admit to something stoopid, watched a mosquito land on my pants..right around the low end of the zipper, wife is next to me in the other lawnchair, I can just picture what she saw next, size 11 hand coming down at about transwarp speed to crush that mosquito, completely oblivious to the fact the about 3/16" on the other side of the zipper is one of mans most densely packed zone of neuro transmitters. I didn't think you could just about knock yourself out and hurl at the same time. I don't think I've ever seen the wife cry from laughing so hard. -
Plastic seats?, I'm pretty sure that's only the covering over the aluminum, I've got the same boat just older. I've got a swivel on each of the 2 front benches and one on the battery box lid, 14 years, still holding. I used the aluminum track system, one track bolted through the front curled edge on one side and used #10 self tapping screws for the other side of the track that sits about 2 inches back from the front edge. The drivers seat is mounted on a removeable swivel bolted through the battery box lid with a piece of 3/4 ply as a stiffener and to move it a bit closer to the tiller.

Some people are easily parted with their money for those overpriced Optima batteries..maybe, over 200+ tax at Wallymart up here + eco fee
-
Right, fill first, then charge, otherwise you'll find that the fluid level comes up and hopefully not out of the battery. Only use distilled water, and, batteries discharge over time, you just missed a deal on a long term maintenance charger at CTC, the CTEC charger/maintainer can be left attached to the battery all winter, keeps it healthy. If you can't afford that, then at the very minimum, recharge your batteries once a month for a couple hours.
-
Take your battery down to Canadian Tire and have them do a free load test. It will tell you if the battery is okay. Then take the charger back if it's under warranty, cheap chinese junk.
