  1. Check around and see where your local Jiffy repair shop is. A lot of small engine shops can do it. If you wish to do it yourself, you'll find a number or letter/number identifier on the side of carb mount. (Mine has an "F") Take that to the shop along with the engine serial/model number, they will give you the diaphram. Ask specifically which way the diaphram goes. One side has a larger diameter disk than the other, it's important. I have a 1991 Jiffy 3HP, I've changed the diaphram 3 times, in 20 years, they get brittle. Secondly, I just use regular gas with Amsoil synthetic, I mix at 50:1. I only mix a litre at a time, I have never ever used more than 2 litres in a whole winter. No point in letting gas get stale, I find it's easier to make small fresh batches. Good luck.
  2. Listen, for you guys up north there is a different or unwritten set of rules different than what we have to put up with in Southern Ontario. Quit trying to stuff something into his pocket that may cost him.
  3. I will agree that some of the UTV's tend to go a little slower, they're more of a work machine than the others. Have you seen some of the SxS videos, it tends to give the wacky multitudes the inspiration to see if they can do the same on our trails and chew them up. The bigger, faster and more power they get, people will just have to try them out and cause grief.
  4. Amen, that's about as plain and true as you can get.
  5. If you want to see sxs or UTVs on the trails, you might as well just let it open up to jeeps and suzukis etc.
  6. Stiff diaphram won't allow the little metal tip on the diaphram to activate the needle valve and allow enough gas to flow.
  7. Yes and part of that loophole is that you have to be engaged in the farm work/trapping/etc. Can't find it right now but certain agencies like emergency jobs are exempt from the 2 up rules when using them for "work" too.
  8. I take it then that you will "usually" pay the other guys ticket.. It looks like the 2UP factory models, after market adaptations and side x sides are not on the near horizon for MTO to give them any sort of approval. Word has it there's just no "real" standard for them and until that happens, you may as well use what works. Hypothetically, if they were completely outlawed, then what do you do? Cry to the salesman or the company that built them. Good luck buttercup. Oh on edit, I didn't mean Sinkers a buttercup
  9. Well I'm betting that it's definitely NOT the DQ. I know Teds Range Rd Diner, but that's off 26.
  10. Jeez, I gave you link with the answer direct from MTO, "A two-up ATV is prohibited from provincial highways and municipal roads, even if the driver is not carrying a passenger".
  11. A sad moment, may the good memories carry you forward.
  12. Well then they have finally listened to the multitudes that complained. I still won't buy anything from them again. I got threaded once too often by them.
  13. You could also make like Rumpelstiltskin and stomp a hole in the ice..
  14. Before you go and buy anything, do some research, that way we won't have to mop up the river of tears afterwards. 2up ATVs are not legal for road use even if it's the driver only driving. Side by side can't be used there either, they are too wide and too heavy to fall under the ATV definition. Some clubs don't allow their use either. If you are using them on your own land, fine amuse yourself. Here's some reading. http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/pubs/atv/two-up-ATVs.shtml
  15. One important point, who does servicing for these units in Canada, hmmm, ya have to send them back to the US and wait til they rape you for shipping and handling. They absolutely won't do anything other than UPS and we all know how nice they are.
  16. That is pretty much a waste of time, electricity, internet space and moments you can't reverse and get useful time back.
  17. I found another good stand by is the ranch flavoured chip dip from Frito Lay, great for fried perch finger food.
  18. I was out this morning from 715 to 10, lots of ice, slick like pike snot, bring cleats or wear golf shoes. The bite was non stop, caught over a hundred, kept 20 for supper. There's a little bump at the shoreline, the rest is okay.
  19. Nice to know the actual consumption figures. I'm hoping the LEDs will come down in price.
  20. The rod may be from around the late '50's to early 60's or so. My dad and I both had one, there were interchangeable end pieces to make either a fly rod or spinning rod. If I'm not mistaken ours were bought at the Stedmans in Ajax for around $10.
  21. Just don't be showing up with Tony and the 400 excavator and have an "accident" where "someone" might get buried for not paying his bill.
  22. X2 what Lew said, especially the part about lifes priorities.
  23. Oh, Amen on that one, big time! It's called laziness.
  24. Careful at Billy Goat Hill, good luck.
  25. I know it's still roughly 4 weeks away and a lot can happen in between weather wise, but, what if the general lake area of Innisfil Beach Park does not freeze to accomodate the event? The long range forecast just seems to hover around the freezing mark, nothing that will really make good ice. Is there a thought about moving further south on the lake, what about event staging area and parking? Just throwing it out there for the possibilities. Hopefully all goes as planned.
