  1. Ah, don't know what model you have, all the Jiffy ones I've ever seen have an "open" primer that activates the diaphram, causes fuel to enter the carb and into the bottom of the crank case where it enters the combustion phase. No fuel/oil is ever returned to the gas tank. Matter of fact, I've never ever seen a retuern fuel line from any of those carbs back to the tank.
  2. All depends what you plan on using it for. I have the basic electric front door model, 2 grills with the pan underneath for wood chips. That smoker has probably done a 1000 pounds of fish over the years, mostly salmon. On an average load, I have only needed to put in 3 pans of chips, sometimes only 2 if it was a smaller amount of meat. One thing I changed out over the years were the grills, got replacement porcelain coated ones for a BBQ. Easier to clean and almost sticky free.
  3. How about
  4. Remember "just because 15 years" doesn't always make something right or something else wrong. I've heard that too, higher octane burns cooler and helps eliminate pre detonation. As part of that event, carbon can be deposited in the combustion chamber and actually cause the volume of the cc to decrease, increasing the compression. Exactly what Tybo said.
  5. Why would you put gas in it and then have to do storage maintenance...
  6. Hopefully the weather forecast changes for the better, could be a tad windy.
  7. All depends on the particular insurance company and the level of coverage. Some do, some don't. All it does is make the price for everyone else go up, you sink it, you pay for it out of your own pocket.
  8. Sometimes I believe that it's unfortunate that procreation comes naturally, otherwise those that do the stoopid things would need instructions to complete the act. Hopefully his stoopid genes didn't make the trip with his offspring.
  9. A good quality ball bearing swivel "may" alleviate some of the mess closer to the end of the line before the lure. However, honestly, I'm tending to believe that you are one of "those" guys who keeps playing with the drag. What follows is what I meant very early in the thread about the spool turning while reeling or cranking. When the drag or tension is properly set per rod/line, the spool itself will not turn while you are cranking in line. If it does, then either you have played with the drag again or the fish is actually taking line. Don't crank while the spool is turning. It causes line twist. I see guys doing it quite often, once the drag is set, there's no need to adjust it.
  10. He said spincast, maybe a mistake. If it is a spincast, then he's reeling while the spool is turning on the reel and that causes line twist.
  11. You're definitely making the best of a mild winter..
  12. If the 18th was the opener, then why would you twiddle your thumbs on the friday....but, it isn't, the opener is always the 3rd Saturday.
  13. Holy grapola, that's worse than being held up, that's outright thievery, $59 + tax. I'm bettin McGuinty runs that store. You can get them for less than $30.
  14. Most any place that sells automotive batteries either has them in stock and can get them overnight.
  15. Oh boy... Can't wait.
  16. They say history often repeats itself, where was the last time you heard "If you're not with us, you're against us", this time it's a little different but with the same inference. Black uniformed fuzz don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
  17. That's because some use the brown truck and others will use US Postal. Last item I had shipped was pegged at $81 + tax with Mr Brown, Us Postal sent it for $9.00, yes, nine dollars.
  18. I wonder if there will be a reciprocal move by the US.
  19. Okay you finally got the jist of the conversation. The issue is "ON a ROAD".
  20. Dan, I'm not sure those up north don't quite understand the "turn a blind eye rule" doesn't work as well here. There are different rules for the northern areas and what they can get away with. Convincing someone down here that they can do the same may cost a bunch in tickets that aren't necessary. Cheers.
  21. Check around and see where your local Jiffy repair shop is. A lot of small engine shops can do it. If you wish to do it yourself, you'll find a number or letter/number identifier on the side of carb mount. (Mine has an "F") Take that to the shop along with the engine serial/model number, they will give you the diaphram. Ask specifically which way the diaphram goes. One side has a larger diameter disk than the other, it's important. I have a 1991 Jiffy 3HP, I've changed the diaphram 3 times, in 20 years, they get brittle. Secondly, I just use regular gas with Amsoil synthetic, I mix at 50:1. I only mix a litre at a time, I have never ever used more than 2 litres in a whole winter. No point in letting gas get stale, I find it's easier to make small fresh batches. Good luck.
  22. Listen, for you guys up north there is a different or unwritten set of rules different than what we have to put up with in Southern Ontario. Quit trying to stuff something into his pocket that may cost him.
  23. I will agree that some of the UTV's tend to go a little slower, they're more of a work machine than the others. Have you seen some of the SxS videos, it tends to give the wacky multitudes the inspiration to see if they can do the same on our trails and chew them up. The bigger, faster and more power they get, people will just have to try them out and cause grief.
  24. Amen, that's about as plain and true as you can get.
  25. If you want to see sxs or UTVs on the trails, you might as well just let it open up to jeeps and suzukis etc.
