  1. Temps are wandering from 50 to 65 here for the next 7 days, I hope he heat wave is making it's way north!
  2. I also couldn't get on for a few days, I even emailed Deg to see if he knew of a problem. All I would see was a bare skin of the page with little or no text, once I disabled ABP ad blocker plus on Firefox the problem went away.
  3. Money? It was his job? He is 75 now, if he can still earn a check fishing in his own pond? More power to him! People like Bill Dance, Rowland Martin, and others had a lot to do with starting the bass fishing craze, nice to see they got a bit of a reward for it?
  4. I am in tropical Ohio, my home is almost 2000 sq. ft. with a basement, all electric and I have a wood stove. My electric bill has run around 300 bucks a month since December, it has though been the 5th coldest winter on record here.
  5. I went and looked at a car with my son about 7 years ago, a Chevy Malibu, nice car, but on the test drive the engine was missing. On close inspection I could see where mice or rats had chewed on the plug wires. I have seen them build nests on top an intake manifold and inside of cars, stored indoors or out.
  6. This one might work too?
  7. Just from what I have read about testing people on welfare here for drugs? That plan is costing more than the savings from it.
  8. How deep is the water? a crawler or leech on a slip float and let it move with the current, you can use a small slip sinker or a couple of slip shot to get the bait down, you really just need enough flotation to support the weight. The float stopping where it shouldn't or moving in the wrong direction will indicate a hit.

  10. http://www.amazon.com/Woebers-Sandwich-Horseradish-Sauce-16-Ounce/dp/B000G33N3W Good stuff, not too hot and great on roast beef or corned beef sandwiches.
  11. Just from this side of the border? The war on pot has worked about as well as prohibition did, and if our government was so concerned about our safety? Why are Tobacco and Alcohol still legal? Some here call it a gateway drug? Perhaps because they saw Reefer Madness and knew the government lied? So they try other things to find out what else they lied about? I don't use it myself anymore, but did in the past, they should spend the time, money, and manpower to get rid of the really dangerous drugs out there? Here some states are looking at what a cash cow it has become for other states and rethinking their plans.
  12. On some waters here they need to be 15 inches to be legal, not sure that one would have made it.
  13. I was bass fishing at East Harbor off of Lake Erie with a friend, shallow water slop 0-4 feet and pretty clear for our area. Both of us were using 6 inch Zoom u tail worms, the only difference was color, I was using Junebug and he was using Watermelon blue fleck, he had 3-4 bass in the boat casting to the same spots and I didn't have a hit. Once that 3rd-4th bass hit the boat I changed to the color he was using and started catching bass, Junebug had been our go to color, but not that day? Hmmm... Lake Erie and other waters for bass or walleye, a chrome, gold, or white crankbait, cast or trolled has produced much better than any other color, up north mix in a perch finish. I had days where bass would absolutely tear up surface lures, but overall a stealthier lure was more consistent, a jig and pig, plastic worm - lizard - tube, even at night. Pike at night? grab a beer and deck of cards! Stay inside away from the skeeters! lol

  15. Nice work! I especially like the style of the top two by singing dog! " What do you guys target with these jigs? " Largemouth, smallmouth, but anything that swims might eat one, I have caught walleye on them and hooked muskies on them, although not intentionally. Fish don't have trouble finding a small jig in the pitch black of night, a 1/8 ounce or 3/16th is fine as long as you have a decent hook in it for bass. A small pork frog or plastic on it and you're good to go!
  16. Here in the tropics it was -14 f when I woke up, the last day of February? Unless the spring heats up fast here we may have ice around the docks and marinas into April? Usually next month sometime (March) is the start of the spring walleye run up some of the rivers, and April is usually prime crappie time, that may get delayed a bit? We are currently at our 5th winter on record with days below zero f, there is more ice on the lakes and snow pack on the ground than normal, that usually means the water isn't going to warm up anytime soon? The county that I live in has the largest number of private ponds in the state, I suspect that winter fish kill will be a problem for a lot of them. http://ohioline.osu.edu/a-fact/0008.html
  17. Pete I think that involves rod selection? I have a couple of 6 foot one piece ugly stick spinning rods that I used up north, they are very stiff, the stiffest rods I own.
  18. If you are not looking to spend a ton of money on a rod? Take a look at some of the Ugly Stick rods? They make them for salt water use and for big cats, they should handle anything else?

  22. At a bass tournament, in a hurry, and I lipped a small muskie, I bled all day.
  23. I am right handed and learned on right handed baitcasters, I bought the first left handed baitcaster I saw, an Abu 5001c back in the 60's, it's been lefty's ever since. I will worry about tennis elbow if I ever decide to play tennis!
  24. http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/the-lepto-vaccine-why-vets-give-it-yearly/ http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2102&aid=454 I have never even heard of that, I live in a rural area here, my dog get his normal shots. He has allergies and we had to change him over from oral heartworm medicine to one we apply to his back that also contains flea and tick killer.
