  1. As a former collector I have seen a lot of intact reel boxes and associated packaging materials go for more than the price of the reels when purchased. Condition means a lot!
  2. I always did in the past, at this stage of the game even driving seems risky business to me, I let my driver's license expire.
  3. I saw a couple of snowflakes yesterday, funny how living 25 miles south of Lake Erie can make such a difference in the amount of snowfall? Cleveland and points east of it got a lot.
  4. "By law, you need a valid fishing license (e.g., sport or conservation) to catch your own live:" "Only resident anglers can capture bait fish." It's discrimination at work! If non residents pay for a license why are they barred from catching their on bait!
  5. That certainly beats bass trapping a school of golden shiners against the shoreline and picking them off.
  6. One of my buddies went to Florida 12-15 years ago, he hired a guide for a day, wild shiner fishing, he got a ten# * fish. In 40 years of bass fishing here in Ohio? never a 7# fish. http://bassonline.com/florida-lakes/lake-okeechobee/ http://www.lakeokeechobeebassfishing.com/okeechobee-bass-fishing/ scottmartinchallenge.com/guide-services/ http://www.jandsfishcamp.com/cabinsrvrentals.html http://www.rolandmartinmarina.com/resort_information.php He trailer-ed his bass boat down there, his wife and kids went to Disney World and he fished. Lake O is huge, a guide for at least a day is suggested? The rest of his fishing was done with lures, and he didn't get a fish over 6#. Ask a guide to see how far a place you might choose to stay is exactly how far from where you will be fishing? The lake is huge? Running time with a rental might also be an issue? Location?
  7. I was kind of shocked when I saw a video earlier in the year of them netting those on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, I had no idea they had made it into those waters. in two days they netted like 80,000 pounds of them. One of those rascals is cat food for a year?

  9. I'm surprised more alcohol wasn't involved. LOL Peoria is on the Illinois river, those carp are there.
  10. I would like to sting a couple of bucks with a paintball gun when they mess up my young trees!
  11. Best wishes to all of you Lew!
  12. Best wishes for you and your family, we all are capable of a little rant sometimes?
  13. I can't imagine why economic recovery is taking so long and why wages have been stagnant for so long when our country allows a million or so legal immigrants to enter per year. In case you missed it? Note the sarcasm.
  14. " Waxwing Freshwater version performs the best with new Tranx reel, Compre Musky rod and PowerPro Hollow-Ace with Flurocarbon leader. " Sounds like they are trying to sell something?
  15. Messaged with a friend today in South Carolina, she had some snow there, haven't see a snowflake here yet this fall.

  17. Often wondered about that, we set a record for rainfall a couple of years ago, last year a drought, this year, decidedly normal. I don't think the farmers in my area have been able to string together more than two decent years in the 24 years I have been here.
  18. That would be my choice as well, but like fish, never did use it and never had a problem.
  19. LOL Wayne, I don't see any rabbits.
  20. http://www.lindyfishingtackle.com/lindy-fuzz-e-grub-jigs http://www.reelbait.com/ccp7/index.php?app=ecom&ns=catshow&ref=original I used Lindy's Fuzzy Grubs almost exclusively on Lake Erie for Smallmouth and Walleye if I decided to fish with a jig and minnow. Top link ; they work well, but it may have just been because of the minnow? I didn't like to use small minnows, so the minnows of choice were 3-5 inch golden shiners ( purchased ) or creek chubs the same size ( caught ) 4-6 inch suckers ( also caught ) seemed to completely eliminate the smallie bite and it became walleye fishing. For the suckers a stinger hook became necessary, and since I didn't care to use a size 8 or 10 treble stinger? I made my own using a size 6. Just stumbled on the jigheads in link #2, they could be effective. The ball head jig with a 3-4 inch grub and a minnow is also though.
  21. A couple of the local TV stations in Cleveland did some investigative reporting on some of the people that stood on the highway ramps here begging, will work for food seemed to be the farthest thing they were really looking for! Funny, but once they started putting some of them on the news showing the cars they drove and homes they lived in the numbers of alleged homeless beggars dropped.
  22. http://www.bassmaster.com/video/2013-bass-pro-shops-northern-open-3-weigh-archive Just some perspective from Lake Erie.
  23. I am thinking that the weather was a big factor? Simcoe like Lake Erie can spoil you? 24 pounds of bass here in Ohio on any other lake besides Lake Erie is probably a lock on first. Almost a 5 pound average? That is a pretty good deal almost anywhere?
