  1. I am buying an Aluminum colander for a hat, it will block signals, and spaghetti is a cheap meal, and maybe a cave in Kentucky for a bunker! It's a conspiracy to increase defense spending! Those companies make some big political contributions!
  2. Lake Okeechobee Giant Bass Battle Part 1 - Scott Martin vs. Jacob Wheeler - YouTube Although this video seems like a running commercial it gives an idea on what the fishing is like, it is dated 2013. A guide is your best bet for a big fish, it's a huge lake with a lot of slop, not all the slop holds big fish though. One of my buddies went there years ago and got a 10+ fish shiner fishing with a guide, his biggest fish without a guide was only 6+, so a guide is an edge unless you have time? Expect to pay a premium for wild shiners, evidently they work better than farmed ones. Plenty of videos on youtube to get ideas from.
  3. http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/field-notes/michigan-angler-lands-state-record-9-pound-smallmouth Big fish, plenty of pictures and witnesses, I don't think I would have kept it for a mount. " He was even in a Bass boat when he caught it " and fishing in a bass tournament!

  5. Good luck! 71 here today and not too breezy, a great day for fall fishing!
  6. Gog or Magog, do we really know who they are working for? LOL
  7. Riverside ringworms, I was in a big lots store here and they had packs of them for 50 cents, I bought all the Junebug, Black, and purple ones they had, but they were a favorite of mine anyway, 50 cents beat 1.99 a bag at a tackle shop? We took our annual run up to BPS in Auburn Hills Michigan years ago, they had a close out on D3 Rapala Risto Raps, I think they were the smallest size of those they made, 1.99 each. I bought a dozen, they turned out to be very good lures for smallies. Small catches all? They would take them went they weren't touching bigger lures. Silver Buddy blade baits? a guy at the local flea market was selling them for 50 cents a piece, I bought a dozen, they worked as well as Heddon Sonars for me, at a much better price. I certainly made my share of mistakes buying lures that only looked good! but it was an advantage fishing in a bass club and in tournaments for years, you could see what others were using and actually catching fish on.
  8. I woke up to scattered snowflakes falling here! It's suppose to be back into the 60's again tomorrow though.
  9. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hi-Fin-Trophy-Diver-New-Unused-14-Musky-Muskie-Pike-/161859928620?hash=item25af9a822c:g:tjcAAOSw5ZBWIOYz I have heard of hi fin lures but never used them. You might ask some of the muskie guys for their top picks before spending tons of cash?
  10. Have you tried looking at what is available on ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Muskalunch-Giant-Wood-Musky-Lure-/141800139539?hash=item2103f26b13:g:rJwAAOSw~bFWGDyR You might need a big motor to troll that one!
  11. If you don't have the right tackle for skis you are probably better off targeting other species? they might be too? Came across that video a couple weeks ago, a younger guy from Ohio fishing there, looks like a good time.
  12. It has been a long time for me since I was there, but my p/b walleye and one of my buddies p/b walleyes didn't come from the river there, and both were mid day fish. Mine came slow rolling a spinnerbait down a point and my buddies came drifting a big chub on the edge of a deeper weedbed, both in late September.
  13. The weather here says we might see our first frost of the fall Saturday night, also a chance of freezing rain or ice pellets, Saturday's high is 44, and breezy, not much doubt it will be worse a few hundred miles north? Deep weed beds might be a plan, slow rolling a heavier spinnerbait thru them could produce just about anything, same with a jig and pig or jig and plastic.
  14. Even the world's greatest sports fish ( a.k.a. rock bass) will eat a jig and pig.
  15. Dang! Great fish! " They were marking shad in the area, " On Lake Erie here if you are marking shad or seeing them? You stand a decent chance of snagging one! Shad that is! LOL
  16. That was a fat one! Nice looking lake.
  17. http://www.bwmarineproducts.com/baydist.htm There is a link to their website. Years ago I had the screen on one of my Hummingbirds develop a bunch of small cracks making it hard to see. The cost of replacing the screen was like half the cost of the depth finder, I might call for a rough estimate price first? Mine was an older model that I bought with my boat, it seemed better to get a newer model to me for the costs involved. I did deal directly with Hummingbird though, maybe that place has better pricing?
  18. LOL, liberals here call me a conservative, conservatives call me a liberal. If you're disliked by both you may be doing something right?
  19. Well it seems your Do Not Call list works about as well as ours! Craig is probably right, a scammer, not a business. The Internal Revenue Service called me today about my alleged back tax debt, a scam that has been on the news here for a while, I think they target older people. http://www.cleveland19.com/story/30226287/alert-beware-of-irs-imposters
  20. Any place that installs windows may have some of the old window sash weights around, especially if they are in an area with older homes, places here threw them on their junk iron piles. Just poking around? 1 inch chain, which is bigger than most people usually see? Weighs around 9 pounds a foot. It might be easier and cleaner to take a 3-4 inch diameter section of plastic pipe and cap one end, drill a hole in the cap and put an eye hook in it and fill with concrete and cap the other end once it dries?
  21. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/17228340/ I don't know, I have never even seen an IKEA store.
  22. A good walleye won't have much trouble taking an 8-9 inch chub, they were tough on our pike-muskie minnows! LOL I had to make my own floats out of craft store foam eggs to keep them afloat for most of the minnows we used.
  23. http://www.louisianasportsman.com/details.php?id=5307 http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/threads/drag-n-chain.340302/ These sites may provide some ideas? A chain right from your boat will probably beat up where ever it comes in contact with it, a rope with the chain on the end is the way to go. Chain comes in a lot of different sizes, which equates to weight variations given the size and length of the chain. The nice thing about chain is you can easily link a couple pieces together with chain links or quick clips to add more weight and still be snag free. You can even slide a short piece of garden hose over the rope so it doesn't get beat up where the chain hits the rocks.
  24. Minnows I have seen stay in the creeks and streams all year too, because of ice on the creeks they may try to find deep spots though. Since I was usually after bigger minnows that the bait stores sold here I would fish for them at times were water depths prevented wading with a net. From what I have seen your bait stores up north had a better size selection than a lot of ours do here.
  25. http://omp.gso.uri.edu/ompweb/doee/science/physical/choxy1.htm I wouldn't use a heater for bait fish, warm water doesn't hold oxygen as well as cold water.
