  1. Have a great time fellas.
  2. that is one big pig. I like the play by play...I blasted the pig 8 times then chased him for 3 hours and finished him point blank. they must be looking forward to the 500-700 lbs of sausage. I can't imagine what that much sausage would look like.
  3. I know that spot! hahahahhaa Great report, Cliff. You and Bly sure get it done!!
  4. Sometimes a sad reality. I work for a medium sized business and own a small business as well. Keep in mind, being in business of any type that you have to sell what the customer wants. The products and services that you offer CAN NOT be your choice. I will rephrase, if you plan to stay in business you must sell what the customer wants. Some industries sell primarily on quality and service. Dry Cleaning is a good example of that style of business where people will certainly pay more for different conveniences. If in the tackle industry the customer says they want to buy at best price 80% of the time and the other 20% of the time they will buy on convenience then you better be making a lot of dough on that last 20%. Life is full of choices. Common perception is that when an ideally located business that is offering what you need and selling it a higher price than other stores is "Gouging the consumer". I would tend to disagree, they are located where you need them to be, have what you want to buy and are open the hours that you require to make your purchase. That is a value. The tackle store owner should know that the reality of the situation is that you are going to give the majority of your dollars to the company with the lowest price, which he can't afford to be. Knowing this he needs to make MORE money off you for the luxury or convenience items for which you are stopping to buy. You and I all work hard to earn a buck. So does said tackle store owner. I am not suggesting that you go out of your way to ONLY shop at a local store but for heavens sake, don't cry bloody murder and beg the small business owner to lower his price because you have seen it elsewhere for lower. Sorry to hear about Gil Finigans going under. Sam, I wish you much continued success with Cara Outdoors. Listen to your customer. If they are using your shop as a convenience store then I would suggest you charge $2.75 for Kraft Dinner and $6.50 for a box of cereal. I hope that analogy works for you. Nothing wrong with making money!!!
  5. I was in north bay on Wednesday and the bugs were BAD anywhere with trees. Water level looked fine.
  6. If you want an adventure, less traffic and sure shot for fish (pike) try the Goulais River just 20 minutes north of the Sault. You won't regret it. And if you get "bored" you can find umpteen more rivers/small lakes/big lakes in the same vicinity.
  7. ALL Salesman are cheats and liars ALL Politicians have no morals and are cheats and liars ALL Managers are out to screw you ALL Union Members are lazy no-gooders EVERYONE on welfare is cheating the system ALL moderators on the interweb are the best people in the world and are always fair and reasonable!! Generalizations rule the world, Brandon. Go out and do something positive to prove them wrong. Be your Best, don't let yourself get pigeonholed and be ready to explain the benefits of what you do. Don't get defensive or you will end up making stupid statements that will further tarnish your profession. Build a thousand bridges, nobody calls you a bridge builder..................
  8. Looks like a good time!
  9. call your buddy and tell him to take his canoe to the dump. hahahaha Good luck to you, it looks like quite a project. As you say, if it floats for 8 hours a year you should be OK.
  10. I would second Autopark. I have dealt with them on 5 vehicles. They also have locations now in Mississauga and Barrie.
  11. I would go north vs east. once you get to Parry Sound things start looking a little bit more reasonable. Being that I drive a lot, the long drives wouldn't bother me much; however, having done the cottage thing EVERY weekend for two summers when I had the place on pigeon I don't think I would put myself in that position again. I felt forced to be up there every weekend because of how much was invested in the place. Doing it again, I would look at Manitoulin Island or just north of the Sault. I really like Algoma, the properties are beautiful with large river/lake front access. They are also very inexpensive. I could treat that like a holiday home and go for a few weeks and a few long weekends every year. Also nice is Temiskaming Shores. Which is formerly New Liskeard, Dimond and another small town. Again, this is a 4-5 hour drive, but you will find true value that won't handcuff you to driving up EVERY FRIDAY in RUSH HOUR. Englehart is up there as well, ask TJ about that area.
  12. I like the Algoma region as well, in fact I will be up there this weekend.
  13. is your sister married? hahahahah I would suggest a medium weight rod (not sure?) Take a ugly stick or a Shimano Compre if you want to spend the extra for a lifetime warrante. Most Shimano 2000 series reels will do you fine, some are better than others. My choice would be a Quantam Catalyst pTi. You can go as little as $50 for a combo that will work for the summer, maybe your life. A mid range combo will get you between between $100-$150 and then a "matched set" will run between $150 and $200. Have fun!
  14. I get your rage, man; however, my father in law has a place on Cameron Lake. We get water ski traffic coming by during the day and fishing boats in the eveneing, some jet skis (they are sort of annoying) but on the hole it is sure a nice place to be. I had a place on pigeon that had very little of this type of activity. That was PIGEON LAKE, in the KAWARTHAS. Come on. Let us not pigeonhole the world. Go and look at some places. They are all less busy than the slowest street of an urban subdivision.
  15. Gas, Gas and More Gas! The new ones have a nicely tuned motor, those old 4.7's are pigs. Roomy though.
  16. The pattern is Meelys dock! say hi to him for me if you see him today. How does my old boathouse look? Still yellow?
  17. Durham is a town North of Mount Forest on Hwy 6. Nice little spot. All amenities and a lot of "big box stores". Jer, do you research! hahahaa
  18. Sounds like fun. I think the little man migh like to go the search and rescue one! Thanks
  19. It is our human nature to judge others by that persons behaviour, while expecting others to judge us by our intent. (Unfortunately we all, Myself included, make these judgements. Often on a daily basis. We can only endeavor to be better and know that we have made an error in judgement, then not make the same error again and again and again and again.) Keep this in mind at ALL TIMES. We may see someone act in a way that seems deliberate, or even malicious towards another person or species. We don't know the intent of the action. Prior to judging allow them the opportunity to express that. In some cases this doesn't bare weight. ie. the gentleman fishing out of St. Clair last year with 8 rods for two guys. It is quite clear the intention was to catch fish by any means necessary, even while breaking the law. I think you made the right call.
  20. he doesn't look good that's for sure. But what do I know? that leg looked like some type of injury you would see in football. Hope he's alright.
  21. Not bad, getting ready for number 2 to arrive soon and gettin the yard ready for summer. You know the drill. How is your new Ford Truck running?
  22. 1. Here are the rules for posting here. Don't tell us what to do! Cool photos! Do you sell Clik as well? are they equally easy to carry while "solo assenting" a big dang hill? do publishers really take responses to web "essays" seriously when trying to sell them a book or an idea for a publication? How are you GCD?
