  1. I have a couple left and I am Canadian! (No Duties) . http://www.etackle.ca/daiwa-tournament-ss-spinning-reel-1300/
  2. Hey All, I grabbed a coffee early one morning at the cottage this weekend and headed down to the dock. The scenery was breath taking, so I snapped a couple shots with my phone. I just downloaded them and I am pretty disappointed. The phone camera was set at 640 X 480 resolution. I really wanted to blow this up if I could. I am just a point and shoot photo guy, I just like the shot. Is it still possible to get this printed or is the res to low? Thanks in advance. Phil
  3. Good point Craig, here are a couple green Scugog fish for reference. Edit to add- Sometimes the bars do not show up on smallies right away, this could be the case with the fish in question.
  4. For sure smallie, but wonder if it is a weed fish. Hence the colouring. It is from Cooks, so maybe so.
  5. I've never read any steeleheading books, but I have heard him speak and fished the rivers with Mr Butler. If he wrote it, it's worth a read.
  6. Darren, this is just my opinion. I think those big boys have there minds set, they feed were the best source is and travel the same routes to and from these areas. I don't think you can change their minds before and after the rut. I chased a big boy for 3 years. I could follow his routine to a T almost. But he always moved through the area at dark. Until one day he was delayed and in rut. The only time I could call or pull him off his route with scent was around the rut. I call it "pee brain" time. They are so focused on chasing does they lose most of their wits. Similair to most men after a 12 pack. To answer your orginal question, before and after rut I try to keep things a natural as possible and simply ambush them on their usual paths. I am weary about spooking them when they have all their wits by using scents and making noise. Just My experience for what it's worth.
  7. I hear ya, pffft Monster, the leafs need to find a new nic name for that kid. Now Andre, he was a true giant.
  8. Nothing like a real wood buring fireplace on a cold crisp night. It is really hard, almost impossible, to find one in a newer home subdivision. When I looked into putting a wood burner in the basement I was blown away at the headache to do so. So I have a gas one, it is ok, but nothing like the real deal IMO.
  9. Nice fish jimmer. Kudos as I know the Kawarthas have fished tough the last few weeks. Bound to turn on soon.
  10. There are some serious giants posted in this thread. What a great read! Thanks.
  11. Great baits, could be tough to find up here. I do not carry the Koolies, but have the Magic Swimmers.
  12. As a past Contractor, it can be beyond tough to finance a job until full payment is received sometimes. But there is no excuse not to pay your trades. Your only as good as your trades/guys. I give you credit for sticking around for 2 months, move on my friend. And spread the word. Just throwing this out, there is no excuse for what they have done, however he is a "new" contractor. IS there a chance he will make good when he gets full payment????
  13. Dana, I have bought a few used vehicles. Before I even look at the truck I research the seller. In this case, if I read your post right, this guy has two Dakota's? Is he a dealer or just a guy flipping them? If he has two for sale, there is a chance he has another one somewhere he stripped for parts. I only buy used from a regular joe selling their ole daily driver. It has worked out for me.
  14. wHEre ? I dIDnIT FeEl ANTthign?
  15. HA! Good eye. Wayne, tell the truth, you dropped a brown bottle off the dock. Just get the paddle boat.
  16. Great video Justin. Pretty intense when a good fish smokes a frog close to the boat. Something to try maybe. I just got a few of the new Live Target 1.75" small frogs. I threw it on a spinning set up with 20lb braid. I was fishing behind a few guys on certain sets of pads and slop and still got fish to eat. I spent another day on docks and trees with it. I could skip this things like a senko. Smashed fish. I mean smashed. I think it would rock on your waters there. Just something to think about.
  17. I agree with deep. Haven't been out there this year, but in the past deeper water in the 15 to 20 ft range was the ticket. I called a few fish up to eat jerkbaits, but the more consistant bite was dropshot or tubes on bottom. Looks for humps, ridges or sharp breaks that drop off into deeper water. As I said we found 15 - 20ft to be the ideal depth however it may not be when you go, but that is a good starting point. Good Luck
  18. Similair experience, we were called out of the field once and as we walked up to them in Camo, with shot guns, 2 labs and a spread of 100 plus decoys they asked us these exact words. "What are you doing?" Those who know me, know I couldn't let that go. So I responded. "This is a classified training exercise, we are readying our Canadian geese for when they enter the US fly zone" After laughing they checked us out and ruined our hunt. "what are you doing" I mean seriously.
  19. I Love Fall fishing! I bet alot of us here at OFC have got our personal best fish in the fall. I'd love to see some pics of them. With every cast you have a chance at setting a new personal best. This year I am going to try and top my PB smallie. It's been a couple years since I have been able to put in some serious time on Simcoe in the fall. Thinking the new XZone Swammer may help me beat my PB gal below.
