  1. Had a frog bait with all the "legs" pulled out and came up with this repair/fix and thought I'd share. I used a pick and 25lb test mono. I used the pick to pull a loop of line through the legs holes that didn't line-up so that you could just loop the line on its own. I figured the thick 25lb mono would help not to "cut" the line as I pulled the legs through, but was still gentle. Don't put mono loop in the middle of the legs or you'll have to pull more leg through the frog, just do the 1st third or quarter. Once the legs are through then even them up. I had turned the hooks around to make it easier, not sure if it really made a difference or not. Hooks flipped back over and ready to go again. I might try some crazy glue to help hold the legs in place.
  2. Not sure how close some might be following iCAST but wondered what had caught your eye? Saw something about a low profile baitcaster with a 9:1 gear ratio.
  3. Flouro does sink faster than similar strength mono but stretches as much or more.
  4. I don't think we're talkin about the same thing. This is wall-to-wall lily pads or bullrushes/reeds. Some the size of a yard, some the size of a football field. If someone fishes it by only hitting the few, small "holes" with a standard topwater then someone else will come in with a weedless lure and clean-up as if it had never been fished. I'll try to take a photo if I hit the pads again before fall. I love walk the dog topwaters but this isn't the place for them, except for the edges before going in right up to your armpits.
  5. For me it's not a numbers game. If my first goal was fish in the boat then I'd fish something else because you will not get the hooks into every fish, but for me at least it is fun even to have a miss. Make sure the hooks are super sharp and wait until you feel the fish before setting. I also like them full of water so they sit a little lower in the water, but they don't land as soft that way.
  6. Then tell them to leave the store.
  7. Ya that secret pond just down the road. It was us and 25 other boats.
  8. Decided last minute to take my son fishing today and this was the going to be our first boat launch without adult supervision. He did great, I did ok, and we caught some fish. Not bad for a stinkin' hot day. He was too busy catching fish to even finish his snacks... and he's always eating his snacks. Now he needs to practice using a camera so we can get some photos of all those monsters I catch.
  9. All of them, at least the expensive ones. The rubber skirt type (spro and others) pulled right out after a few fish. I switched to the very lifelike rubber frogs (koppers, lunkerhunt and a 3rd that I forget). They were worse. The one lasted one fish that nipped at the legs and pulled both off. The others didn't last one day of fishing. I expect more for 10 plus bucks per lure. This last trip I used a top toad. The main reason I bought it was because 2 came in the package and it was a quarter the price. It's not a lifelike but it lasted the whole day and still has both legs. My kids have rubber lizards that don't cost nearly what we pay for lures and they can't pull those legs off no matter how hard they try.
  10. Geez Lew, glad everything is ok. Have some honey on your toast in the morning.
  11. I think I'm going to start a thread on slop frogs and their lack of durability.
  12. Two trips, one post. Fair amount of hits and we even got the hooks into a few. Despite years of tips, my brother doesn't take the best photos even with his own camera. Ryan had some hits on his topwater but couldn't get the hooks into one. Lots of panfish though. Saw lots of gar as well but they didn't seem to be too interested in rubber frogs.

  14. Careful, you could stop the bleeding but also stop the breathing with too much CO2.

  16. Are you building it solo, or do you have a second set of hands?
  17. Big dogs? A bought out player and a guy that hasn't been seen for 4 years?
  18. He was miscast. He doesn't have the personality to deal with the media/fan Bull that comes with being the number 1 guy in the biggest hockey market in the world. He scores goals. Any lug nut can be coached to check/defend and the league is full of 'em. His fitness has always been a question, he had mediocre top line help, lousy team support and coaches that couldn't coach for talent and still was one of the top 5 goal scorers over the last 5 seasons. Wonder what will happen now?
  19. Out of shape and scores goals with Bozak at centre. Now he'll be out of shape and have either Malkin or Crosby at centre.
  20. She agrees. Canada Day 3 years ago: London Ballon festival from 8-9 years ago:
  21. The cleat the drift sock is tied to is the only thing getting more stress and that's not likely more then what it would get if you use it to moor the boat.
  22. I'll leave it on your doorstep.
