  1. Having the yanks closer throw 28 pitches might factor in the next 2 games.
  2. Sorry, my bad. I was using smurfs for bait. Ya, it's the same blue algae that some walleye have.
  3. I think black would block out the sun's rays better, but either way, I don't think heat is as much of a concern as evaporation.
  4. California has a higher population than Canada but only about the same amount of water as I like in my drinks.
  5. In an effort to reduce the amount of water loss to evaporation California has resorted to this. Millions of plastic balls are dumped into a reservoir. more info: http://gizmodo.com/la-dumps-millions-of-plastic-balls-in-city-reservoir-to-1723433243
  6. Not sure it ever was like that. I believe if you contact the company that issued your card you can pay a fee for a replacement card. Some people get 2 cards (for a extra fee) so that they have a backup.
  7. They've only got a wildcard spot right now. Unless you win the division it's a one game "series" and anything can happen. A good, deep team is more likely to win a 7 game series but one game is a toss up.
  8. Yep big and shallow. Nipissing, Lake Winnipeg etc. Any water can get nasty in a hurry but big and shallow just adds to it.
  9. Does any game with the yanks ever take less then 3 and a half hours?
  10. You could listen to the game on a radio.
  11. Hey, it wasn't me that touched the ball.
  12. Ya that's a sucky MLB rule. Don't have a radio?
  13. A Blue Jay is better than 9 yanks every time. NY scored 1 run in 3 games and it was from a fan interfering with a ball that was called a homerun in the 2nd inning of the first game.
  14. Our very own version of Dick Proenneke. Amazing to watch.
  15. Hard to believe it's been 23 years since baseball felt like this and I still can't quite wrap my head around there being people in their mid-late 20's that have no idea how things are going to be if there is a long play-off run for the Jays... I'm too immature to feel that old.
  16. You think that cowlick of a hairstyle just happened all by its self?
  17. Geez, I get a couple of hooks that don't bite and I start talkin' to the screen.
  18. Out in the boat with my brother and son today. Topwater bass was the plan but the bass missed the memo. Ryan was the first one with a fish in the boat... His biggest yet, although he was accused of cheating because he switched to a crankbait. "Black" bass for my brother I found some pike as well We even got some pike back in the slop with the rubber frogs.. My first though was I had a really solid bass, then i figured it might be a bowfin but once we got it out of the weeds it was another pike. In the end we caught a few more bass than pike but considering we hadn't caught/seen any pike in these spots for 6 weeks it was a bit of a surprise.
  19. Lunkerhunt has a lunker frog and pocket frog. Most natural looking rubber frog out there and most durable I've used yet. My son caught a small pike on the weekend and the rubber looks fine. My brother and I have used them this summer and the legs have lasted so far. Had a few gar swipe at them as well.
  20. No, his outfit is a solid medium spinning rod. Eight pound nanofil and a 20lb flouro leader now that he's fishing pike/bass in the weeds.
  21. lol It was the city kids that were concerned about the toothy critters.
  22. An article by Roy MacGregor in the Globe and Mail on the Muskoka River: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/along-ontarios-idyllic-muskoka-river-locals-fight-dam-development/article25814523/
  23. Went up to Port Severn to see extended family yesterday. The kids (with a wide range of fishing experience) usually catch panfish by the bucket full off the dock but someone is now consumed with topwater frogs. He's had some bass blow-up on his frogs but he hasn't got one to the boat yet. So while I was helping his little sister catch "the biggest rockbass ever" he calmly tells me he's got a fish on his frog. I look over and sure enough his rod is bent over and there is a snot rocket jumping out of the water. Mass pandemonium from the kids on the dock as we land "biggest fish in the lake". The pike goes back as the kids consider if they should be swimming in the same water as the "monster pike". Ryan and I shared a look and I though about showing them some photos of the pike and muskie we've caught from near by but thought better of it. Shortly after a wind gust from nowhere had lawn furniture and swim toys looking like tumble weeds, and kids fighting for their balance on the dock so the fishing was cut short. The lobster was delicious though and someone wanted to bring some shell home.
