Last year I spent the 1st week of May on the West Arm of Nipissing and driving across 17 from North Bay it appeared the whole north side of the big lake was still ice covered. It was gone though when I came home a week later.

That's great that you got your Grandaughter out for a day of fishing Brian !!

Years ago my brother was snowmobiling across Scugog and when he hit a patch of clear ice he slid sideways then hit a pressure ridge and flipped his machine and was thrown off. Luckily he he wasn't going too fast and wasn't seriously injured. I'd imagine it could happen just as easily with a truck if you were going fast enough.

Always sad to hear this sorta stuff. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbarrie.ctvnews.ca%2Fone-dead-and-four-injured-in-accident-on-lake-simcoe-1.1731704&ei=qt8mU4ecBI72qgGBmoDwBA&usg=AFQjCNEJwMb0w737AdGCpJ3YlQp1kmCOHQ

If it's the only fish caught, it doesn't need to be big to win...congrats I once won $57 for a 1st place prize with a 35" musky

I agree Dutch, I've been using Shimano gear for many years and if memory serves me correctly, the ONLY problem I've had was a Calcutta CT that stopped working and the boys in P'Boro fixed it up for me & cleaned it for a token fee of $5 As for the issue of no spare parts after 5 years, I can't comment because as stated above, my stuff never needs fixing.

If anyone in the Kawartha region is interested in a fun day for the family, where you can watch maple syrup being made among other things, this is a great way to spend a few hours. I was there a couple years back and it makes for a good family time. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmcleanberryfarm.com%2Fhtml%2Fmaplefest.html&ei=vBYiU774A-mY2wWE6YDgAw&usg=AFQjCNGqdGuwTJaV4itwfetMS9yqX1pjfQ

That would really add insult to injury, if he was given $$$$ for being locked up for half his life for something he didn't do, and then have to turn around and give some of it back for taxes.

I used to have a 16' Crestliner and I used a long shaft 6HP Merc for the kicker and it worked fine. Don't know which is actually correct though, a long or a short shaft.

Done here too Joey

I'd say at least 1 million for every year would be a good start.

Yes, I'm well aware of that, I was just pointing out to a new member that the Nipissing walleye topic is one that comes up often and he wasn't starting any problems.

This exact discussion comes up on a very regular basis Doug, it has nothing to do with what you said.

No cell phones involved in this story, but a whole lot of stupidity. It was on hwy 28 south of Burleigh Falls 2 years ago and if I hadn't seen it myself I wouldn't have believed it. Guy was driving southbound in a real hurry and wanted to pass the car in front of him but because of the heavy northbound traffic couldn't do it. Instead of waiting for an opening he actually went onto the soft shoulder and passed the car on the right side, doing at least 100 kmh. Gravel and dirt was flying everywhere, the moron was fishtailing all over the place and the guy being passed actually had to move over towards the northbound lane and on-coming to get away from this moron. I was just waiting for this jerk to roll into the ditch, infact I was actually hoping he would before he killed an innocent family but sadly he kept it together and roared on down the hiway.

That picture of Marvin and I with the matching touques actually won 2nd place in a Toronto Sun "dog/master" lookalike contest. In the original picture only I had the hat but Terry used his puter skills and gave Marv one too. And yes it's framed and sits on the desk right beside this computer.

50 years ago I was a growing boy & needed my food LOL Things were different back then, big fish were for eating and folks almost never took pictures of their catches.

Biggest pickerel I ever saw was an 18 pounder my grandfather caught about 50 years ago while we were fishing Lake Simcoe. It was so darned big I 1st thought it was a carp while I was netting it. Took it in a measured it on 3 different scales just to be sure, then we ate ate it for supper. Things were different back in the day.

Yeah we were Chris, very good buds.

Thanks for that Dan, it's an enjoyable read and actually another member sent me the same thing a couple days ago. After the vet administered the drugs to Marv, then determined that he was gone, her assistant looked at me & said "it's OK now Lew, Marvins crossed the rainbow bridge" It somehow made me feel a bit better.

Thanks for that Cliff, we were posting at the same time. And yes, he WAS a wonder dog.

Our last dog was a little poodle name Scamper that we loved just as much as Marvin and we had her for 13 years before we had to put her down. We said then that we'd never have another dog and we didn't for 8 years but then we decided that we'd do it again. Here we are all these years later and again we say no more dogs, but this time we'll stick to it. Dogs are one of the best things God ever came up with and they've sure enriched my life over the last 60 odd years, but Marvin will be the last pet we'll own.
-
Yeah, alot of folks got us confused LOL
-
Thanks once more for all the kind words folks, it really means alot and it would appear as if we have many dog lovers on this board. John....we saved a few of Marvin's favorite toys for keepsakes and one of them was the boomerang you guys bought him a few years back to play with in the water, it was one he really enjoyed. Wayne....I remember when you had the accident with your dog, that was really tagic. Joey, that dream you had is unreal but hopefully there's some truth to what you said. Marvin has been a bit old to play with Ralphie the last couple years but he sure enjoyed hanging out with him anyways.
-
Thanks again for your thoughts fellas but we won't be getting another dog. I've had dogs my entire life and have enjoyed them all but ole Marv will be our last.

Thanks guys, it was tough waking up this morning for the 1st time in 18 years without my pooch.
