  1. Yeah, I've pretty well decided to leave it alone. It's only 12 years old and looks great as is. I liked that product Drifter linked to but think I'll just pass. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
  2. I use a Stihl FS55R and am really happy with it and got it at Hemmings over on Lansdown. I originally purchased a curved shaft model and didn't like it, so I exchanged it for the straight shaft and like it alot better. As for the push mower, I've got one sitting here and it's yours if you want to come up and get it, I'm just north of Youngs Point. It's a 4 year old Yard Machine with a Briggs & Stratton 4 stroke motor and 20" blade and it runs great and normally starts on the 1st pull, infact I just fired it up a couple days ago after sitting all winter and it fired up 1st pull. Only getting rid of it as I bought a new one for doing the trimming where the riding mower won't reach.
  3. For years I had a house trailer in a little park north of Peterboro and every spring the snapping turtles would come up onto the sandy beach to lay their eggs. Pretty interesting to watch actually as they'd dig the hole, lay the eggs then cover them up and head back into the water. As soon as it got dark though, the skunks and coons would dig up and devour the eggs.
  4. Not necessarily, we go out for dinner every Friday night and sometimes mid-week too, and believe me, it's not always cheap, specially when the ole girl gets looking at the wine list
  5. Yup, and there's getting to be quite a few of them Simon. Took this picture from my back deck.
  6. Thanks for those links Dave, I like the looks of that Jewel Stone
  7. We were out for dinner with friends this evening and just got home 30 minutes ago Bruce, so I'm in the good books for awhile longer LOL
  8. Thanks for your input ch312, I know you used to be in the business.
  9. Yup, and a bunch of $$$$ still in my pocket LOL
  10. Thanks for the ideas guys, but just hearing suggestions that it doesn't always work is enough to convince me to leave things as they are.
  11. Our front porch is poured concrete and my wife would like it painted but I'm leery about doing it as I doubt there's anything that'll work well. I know there's products advertised for the job but I'm wondering if any of you have done it and how did it stand the test of time. I'm sure it'll look good for a year or 2 but then it could start looking pretty ratty after awhile. The concrete has a brushed finish so it's slightly rough to prevent slipping.
  12. What about contacting the manufacturer themselves, they must have a parts dept.
  13. I've been to alot of places in this big ole world but have never found anywhere I like better than the West Arm of Lake Nippissing and that's the reason I just keep going back time after time.
  14. I've had St. Croix musky rods for years , both Avids & Premiers, and never had a single issue with any of them other than one that had the reel seat come loose 8 or 9 years ago and Spiel fixed that one for me.
  15. You got some decent baits there Maverick and it's a good start. Those Sledges are excellent baits, and hopefully you got the weighted ones as their much easier to work, but even un-weighted will put some fish in your boat. The Suick is also a great bait and like the Sledge they take a bit to figure out the best way to work them but once you get onto them, their one of the best baits around.
  16. I use a Tournament musky series and although I've never tried the walleye models I'd assume their equally great.
  17. That's interesting Paul how the western half of the States seems to have a much lesser incidence of cancers.
  18. Great story Will and good on ya for giving the guy a well deserved plug !!
  19. That's a crazy long list Paul, perhaps I'll remove California from those places I may like to visit someday LOL
  20. I bought a new lawn mower this morning and in the box was a small packet of STA-BIL to put in the 1st tank of gas. I was reading the label and came across a message that states "WARNING....this product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer" I've got a couple other bottles of STA-BIL in the garage that don't have that warning. Just thought others may find it interesting.
  21. Beautiful pup you got yourself there and kudo's to you for rescuing him !! Make him your best friend and spoil him like crazy.
  22. Just an FYI for anybody using the causeway ramp this weekend, the dock still hasn't been put in so if your by yourself it could be a bit of an issue putting your boat somewhere while parking your truck.
  23. Sometimes you can hit folks between the eyes with a snow shovel and still can't get them to pay attention. A few homes on the road do have those bear proof containers and they work great, I've seen them flipped right over by bears but still didn't come open.
  24. We've had a momma bear and 4 cubs wandering around our road all week and were on my front lawn a couple nights ago but so far haven't caused any problems. Trouble is though we have a bunch of cottages on the road too and when they go back home Sunday evening they leave their garbage at the end of the driveway for pick up Wednesday so the bears all come out and have a field day. Cottagers then come back the next weekend. see all the mess and scream that somebody should kill all the nuisance bears. Doesn't matter how many times their told though. they can't see how their the problem and not the bears.
  25. It just continues to get worse.
