X2 Terry. I don't tow much as I have a slip. But when I get on a 400 series I wish I had brakes.I'm the guy in the right lane doing 99.9 KPH. Say hi, not the middle finger Hi.

So there is a conspiracy afoot, something new here? I have a bulletin for you. If you have a bank or Visa card they know exactly what you are doing, where you are doing it and when and who you are doing it with. If you cross the street, enter a building, go into a post office, enter an airport, actually go anywhere and they can see you. Even fishing if "they" want. If some of my civil liberties are compromised because it saves one life because of whatever I'm fine with it because I am doing nothing wrong. Not one terrorism attach in Canada since the FLQ. There may be a day when "they" say I am doing something wrong living my life and I understand why some may be adverse to that. That day may be coming and it will be a sad day. Big Cliff says "one nail in the coffin at a time". But it is what it is, for now. When that day comes I will be ready. ( Watch now CSIS is going to knock on my door) The above is food for thought with tongue in cheek. I get it too but other than to be involved in our democratic process what can one do? .

With that mini van you will be towing a 14 foot tinny with a 9.9 and stuff and not much more safely, I don't care what the stats are, I base that on real life experience. When I bought my 19 footer plus the 115 and the 15 HP kicker plus all the gear for a trip my new truck cost me twice what the boat cost me. You do not stop on a toownie pulling 2900 lbs of boat, motors, trailer and stuff with a 1/2 ton truck. I don't know where they come up with 3600lbs for a mini van? It's not the towing, it's the braking.

I do have some good news. 2 cranks on the key after I changed the bulb on the 115 and she started and ran like a clock. Same with the 15HP kicker. I won't put the boat in the water without a bilge and a new VHF is in my near furure, important safety feature 15 miles out on Lake Erie. That bilge may be a bit of a chore to trouble shoot. I better get it done this week before Wormdunker and Fish Farmer catches all the perch in Erie. My old wireless MotorGuide foot control would not work properly unless it was in the water under load as Art mentioned Bill. When I was looking at 2 new deep cells (it's 24V) at around 300 Samolians I now call it the hood ornament. I really don't need it for the fishing we do on Erie. It looks nice though up there. When I win the lottery one like yours will be on the boat. I see they have 48V now, that will pull me through the Erie waves. It is probably something simple Bill, it usually is for everyone else but I. -
We got 8 a week after it came out. Now 10. I asked our PC Guru what's the advantage of Windows 10 and she said it's better. Oh that's good info. I don't see any difference whatsoever. We do have touch screen. What is the difference, advantages? As far as auto updates I welcome them because I'm clueless as to what I need and don't need. I have been on auto update since Windows 95. I remember taking 5 hours sometimes or more to update with a 56K modem.

That's funny. I was waiting for some epic tale of springs birth. Not. For all you folks up in God's country that love the ice and snow and sub zero, don't worry winter will be there again in a few months. Mid September?

That sucks Bill. I hope it's not serious. This is supposed to be the best part of the year for us boaters, I find it stressful. I cut the shrink wrap off yesterday and found I have, no bilge pump, 2 livewells not working, VHF not transmitting and I have a hole in my 2 year new fuel line primer bulb so I couldn't start it. Time to get outside get to work and off this laptop. -
An article I came across that everyone should read as we are most likely all going to be in, on or near the water for the coming months. Play safe. JD Artículo en Español The new captain jumped from the cockpit, fully dressed, and sprinted through the water. A former lifeguard, he kept his eyes on his victim as he headed straight for the owners who were swimming between their anchored sportfisher and the beach. "I think he thinks you're drowning," the husband said to his wife. They had been splashing each other and she had screamed but now they were just standing, neck-deep on the sand bar. "We're fine, what is he doing?" she asked, a little annoyed. "We're fine!" the husband yelled, waving him off, but his captain kept swimming hard. "Move!" he barked as he sprinted between the stunned owners. Directly behind them, not ten feet away, their nine-year-old daughter was drowning. Safely above the surface in the arms of the captain, she burst into tears, "Daddy!" How did this captain know, from fifty feet away, what the father couldn't recognize from just ten? Drowning is not the violent, splashing, call for help that most people expect. The captain was trained to recognize drowning by experts and years of experience. The father, on the other hand, had learned what drowning looks like by watching television. If you spend time on or near the water (hint: that's all of us) then you should make sure that you and your crew knows what to look for whenever people enter the water. Until she cried a tearful, "Daddy," she hadn't made a sound. As a former Coast Guard rescue swimmer, I wasn't surprised at all by this story. Drowning is almost always a deceptively quiet event. The waving, splashing, and yelling that dramatic conditioning (television) prepares us to look for, is rarely seen in real life. The Instinctive Drowning Response so named by Francesco A. Pia, Ph.D., is what people do to avoid actual or perceived suffocation in the water. And it does not look like most people expect. There is very little splashing, no waving, and no yelling or calls for help of any kind. To get an idea of just how quiet and undramatic from the surface drowning can be, consider this: It is the number two cause of accidental death in children, age 15 and under (just behind vehicle accidents) of the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult. In ten percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch them do it, having no idea it is happening (source: CDC). Drowning does not look like drowning Dr. Pia, in an article in the Coast Guard's On Scene Magazine, described the instinctive drowning response like this: Except in rare circumstances, drowning people are physiologically unable to call out for help. The respiratory system was designed for breathing. Speech is the secondary or overlaid function. Breathing must be fulfilled, before speech occurs. Drowning people's mouths alternately sink below and reappear above the surface of the water. The mouths of drowning people are not above the surface of the water long enough for them to exhale, inhale, and call out for help. When the drowning people's mouths are above the surface, they exhale and inhale quickly as their mouths start to sink below the surface of the water. Drowning people cannot wave for help. Nature instinctively forces them to extend their arms laterally and press down on the water's surface. Pressing down on the surface of the water, permits drowning people to leverage their bodies so they can lift their mouths out of the water to breathe. Throughout the Instinctive Drowning Response, drowning people cannot voluntarily control their arm movements. Physiologically, drowning people who are struggling on the surface of the water cannot stop drowning and perform voluntary movements such as waving for help, moving toward a rescuer, or reaching out for a piece of rescue equipment. From beginning to end of the Instinctive Drowning Response people's bodies remain upright in the water, with no evidence of a supporting kick. Unless rescued by a trained lifeguard, these drowning people can only struggle on the surface of the water from 20 to 60 seconds before submersion occurs. (Source: On Scene Magazine: Fall 2006) This doesn't mean that a person that is yelling for help and thrashing isn't in real trouble they are experiencing aquatic distress. Not always present before the instinctive drowning response, aquatic distress doesn't last long but unlike true drowning, these victims can still assist in their own rescue. They can grab lifelines, throw rings, etc. Look for these other signs of drowning when persons are n the water: Head low in the water, mouth at water level Head tilted back with mouth open Eyes glassy and empty, unable to focus Eyes closed Hair over forehead or eyes Not using legs Vertical Hyperventilating or gasping Trying to swim in a particular direction but not making headway Trying to roll over on the back Ladder climb, rarely out of the water. So if a crew member falls overboard and every looks O.K. don't be too sure. Sometimes the most common indication that someone is drowning is that they don't look like they're drowning. They may just look like they are treading water and looking up at the deck. One way to be sure? Ask them: "Are you alright?" If they can answer at all they probably are. If they return a blank stare you may have less than 30 seconds to get to them. And parents: children playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why. ___________ disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed by the author are not necessarily those of the Department of Homeland Security or the U.S. Coast Guard. The first thing that came to mind was how cold were your feetsies? It was 77F yesterday on the deck facing the lake, but I wasn't going to dip my toes in the water. Can I say it? You're nuts my man. Catch any fish? If you did you earned it. But you're still nuts. -
Sounds good from here. A clean install. Did you wire it to a fuse on the panel or strait to the battery with a in line fuse? Because of the bad location of my fuse panel I ran it straight to the battery. I am always wondering why StarCraft would put a fuse panel that a human can't access, my only complaint on my barge.

Brian just got my vote for meal of the year. Congratulation's my man. 1 thing, roast those peppers until 100% carded. Hold on Bubba Boy, who am I to critic? Way to go Brian, 140 some odd pages here and you just blew me away. We are not worthy, I am not worthy. I bow to your prowess.

Good one. Trainers used to take a pair of pliers and pinch your arm with them if you got a cramp. It hurt so bad you didn't mind the pain from the Charlie horse. Maybe some science to it.

Someone has too much time on their hands maybe? But that looks like a blast for sure. Hypothermia will take some of the fun out though. A dry suit may help.

Yep, he's not just an idiot he's the Village Idiot. It a DNA thing as it was passed down the gene pool from his father who retired as the previous Village Idiot. We aren't talking about guys with both oars in the aqua. The real funny thing is that boat has been parked for 3 years now doing a full resto on it. He wants to pull the 70's wood panelling off the recroom walls and glue them together to put in the floor it might just work however I had to remind him he RENTS the place. We know it doesn't leak because it has 3 feet of pond water in it. That's amazing actually that is hasn't split wide open with the ice. I have some stories about these 2. I should call them acquaintances. Ooops hi jack alert level 3.

Geoff, ( forgive me if I have the name wrong) I looked at the PC packages. If PC is presidents choice they are available at a few places here like Shoppers or Zehrs. If I have to pay 20 cents a minute on top of the 15 or 25 buck package that's going to add up pretty quick since one of the phones is now our home number. My wife has sisters across North America. Here and the US. Both phones come to around 80 bucks a month and I was wrong about the price of the phones it's an extra 10 bucks for a few months more to buy them outright. Zero data usage. Unlimited LD North America. At 20 cents a minute and maybe an hour a day on prime time calls which is about right after checking my phone that's $360.00 a month unless I'm missing something. That's one expensive camera. Please advise, thanks. Johnny D edit: we gave up the 22 buck a month phones because dear wife needed a smart phone as 20 texts were no longer enough as her new boss is texting her and they are in the same store 100 feet away, I don't get that either, the phone is on her desk but she texts everyone. My wife works full time, I no longer work so if I want to go fishing etc. etc. I go with the flow. Plus I wanted to stop paying Ma Bell and needed a better phone than my 10 year old flip phone to use as the land line. I'm missing something about the plans.

Shloim, I can't see why you shouldn't be able to get to 2 MPH trolling with that 40 HP. With a change in prop pitch and some tuning of the idle we got buddies 5LT Mercruiser down to 2.5 MPH. I troll regularly with my 115 Mariner down to 2.5 MPH. I do not like trolling socks especially on a light boat like yours. It can be a real pain to get her to run true. You don't even need rod holders really. Unless using heavy rigs for deep fish I like that rod in my hand so I can feel every bump and nudge and feel how the lure is moving. I really don't like rod holders but it's a must for deep water trolling with the heavy rods and terminal tackle like dipsies etc and snap weights to get down deep here on Erie. You can't feel when you have picked up flotsam on your line or lure when it's on a holder. After a few years of trolling the Ottawa in fast water I did get a mean case of Tennis Elbow though. That's what my Dr. said I had. I told him I don't play tennis anymore I fish. He said OK "fishing elbow". I asked him for a prescription for some rod holders, he kicked me out of the office. Keep it simple Shloim, have fun and hammer them Lakers. When you need to get down past 35 feet just come out here and I'll take you out on my boat. We trolled for years with what's called Wolf River rigs on Nippising for Pics in 30 to 40 feet of water. Simply a 3 way swivel with the presentation on one eye and a heavy bell sinker on a lighter line bouncing bottom. Weights then were cheaper than harnesses we used. Not anymore, Harnesses are cheaper than the weights now. I know because I picked up a few at CTC tonight at 2 for 3 bucks, wow. I think I might start using big nuts like the old days. When I had big nuts. edit: yep 4 @ 3/4 oz bells sinkers for $5.58 plus tax. I better shop better. I had bags of them as we made them during a cast on the furnace. The guys at the pattern shop made us the molds, no one bought weight back then. That's insane. My bad.

Like having an ice cream braino. Don't throw it out. This winter I through a few nuts, bolts and washers under buddies outboard in the snow. Today he's loosing it trying to figure out where they came from.

I disliked the 80's if for just the instrument less techno music and mullets. Oh and that was the decade I lived with my former spouse. Some portions of that bill is worth looking at, some portions are just ridiculous and will never pass. The bill can be read on line if you have an hour to muddle through it. I think it was here I read it. There is nothing wrong with banning shark fin harvesting. I'm not into clubbing seals either. Being brought up on charges for 1st degree murder of a knat or worm is just not worth worrying about. I wouldn't get my political opinions from any journalism group like Canada Vice. Paranoia will destroy ya. I wouldn't loose any sleep over this bill. It's not 1 nail at a time, more like making the coffin from a pile of sawdust, we will be fine. Go fishing and mass murder a few dozen worms and minnows, I'll bail you out.

Is what I'm paying fair, OK, good, not so good? If I go prepaid as many do would it be easier on the budget, which is getting smaller every month. No raise for 16 years now. Thanks for your help GBW.

Since I no longer have a Millenial at my beckoned call at work I struggle when it comes to newer technology. But I finally got rid of our Bell land line after being with them since 1973 and joined the 21st century. When I called Bell to cancel some young lady said "OK" bye, bye. No gold watch for me. 43 years and about 20 grand later, man it adds up. It was up to 75 bucks a month. We had Koodo phones that were $21.50 a month each, basically call home or 911, 20 free texts a month. The kids have 20 texts before they get to work if they have work to get to. I know kids that rack up monthly bills of 300 bananas and more, I don't get it. . One of the guys said their Grand Daughter called them crying because she had a $700.00 monthly bill and couldn't tell her parents. Yea I don't get it. We went with Koodo and have 2 Motorola somethings, I don't know if it's a I Phone or smart phone, android or what, it rings and I swipe something and say hello. Zero data usage of which we don't need. I found that data usage can kill you. I use it for Wifi if at Timmies a few times. The bill is around 80 bucks a month for both phones. We had enough Koodo points that the phones were free. I do miss sticking a real phone between my shoulder and neck and be able to do other things while on the phone. I'm most impressed with the camera on these things. I don't know if 40 bucks each with unlimited long distance is OK, good, or not so good. I'm old fashined, I use the thing to talk to other people on. edit: My cousin the US does't have a land line but has an extension of the cell phones that sits ina charging cradle that looks and works like the old land line phones. Is there any service up here that has something similar? I am very afraid I'm going to loose, drop, break this new home phone I take with me.

Fantastic news brother. Take care of those peepers, no back ups available. -
What's not to love? 45+cm and 19" of ice. I'll take Palm trees and boat drinks anyday rather than the cold.

The Weather is the responsibility of Mother Nature, she will take you complaints. Weather is moody but does not have intelligence so it can't be stupid. So Weather would be a female. My golf book from 3 years ago where I keep my handicap says I had 3 rounds of golf in by this date. Not this year. Going to be in the teens next week, we'll see. 28C hot? We kept the A/C at 28C in the furnace pyrometer rooms to cool off at the Blast Furnaces.

That Islander has the exact graphics my 190 has. 20 years old and if cared for still look new. I got lucky to find one.
