  1. Here's a question where I have the best answer! Special Mate 13" Musky Box. Very similar to NWT Dave's. Not everyone has the carpentry skills he is blessed with. His is a very similar set up. I use the 10" box for ALL my plugs, spoons and spinners. Gone are the days you reach into a tray to get a plug and come out with 4 or more. All for under $100.00. I would have never considered paying that much for a plastic box but now wished I had years ago if they had them. What a nice storage solution. I think the 13" box holds 45 lures. My 8" box holds 120 untangled lures. Look at the Special Mate for all plugs etc. not just Musky. http://protacklemuskyshop.com/musky-store-c23.php?command=viewProducts&productGroupID=13
  2. My Dad and I had a relationship when it came to the outdoors. When I asked him if we could spend sometime "outdoors" together? He told me to get in the 59' Chevy station wagon so I could go outdoors with him to mix concrete. I never asked again. 110% true story.
  3. You would be surprised at what people will spend money on. The problem is that you go to a Canadian Tire store and they say yes we will try a few, bring them in tomorrow. Then that few turns out to be 15. You spend the money and time to make them in the sewing room, oops I should say your wife, and they call you a month latter and tell you to pick up the 12 they didn't sell. Now imagine the first order being 200 and they don't sell. That's the nature of Retail 101. That is a great online product though.
  4. So that what a Speckled Trout looks like. I'm not a trout guy and have yet to get a Brown or a Speckled Trout. They sure are gorgeous. That body of water looks magnificent. Sure beats trolling the back yard of an integrated steel plant and coal fired hydro plant. The scenery is what I miss most here on this inland sea called Erie. 360 degrees of nothing.
  5. You are correct, that is why I had my guy contact GM to clean and adjust the rear drums under warranty and get in in writing. They did approve the work in writing. For something larger I bet they (GM) would want to do it, yes. I guess the GM dealer charges GM for the warranty work done. Actually come to think of it that is stated right in the warranty paper work unless they authorize another shop to do so. For regular service maintenance like fluids not all private garages are qualified to do that work, receipt or not. Similar to some roofers not authorized to install some brands of shingles unless authorized to do so, like the homeowner, if not you don't have a warranty. It was a 2 to 3 hour wait at the dealers to change oil and filter and rotate the tires, over 100 bucks, ridiculous. It's not much less at my guys but I don't have to drive 2 hours return and wait for another couple of hours. Nice clean waiting room though and free Lattes.
  6. Turn the video into the police, now. You may not get your canoe back even if they are convicted. I think both you and I know where it is most likely. My wife works in Caledonia and I'm surprised her car hasn't been stolen yet. Average of 1 vehicle a year is taken from their parking lot on Argyle in broad daylight, the main street in town. Sick pricks.
  7. You forget I told you we can watch the bass spawn on their beds here from my deck? There can be no less than a dozen beds within sight, imagine how many along a shore line from Fort Erie to Windsor? Around 400KM.
  8. Not really. Why do you say that?
  9. Very nice. Those will sell, finding the market is the tough part. Dragons Den?
  10. Look at all the Hydro we are saving too Dave. If you call that shop tiny you should see my garden shed.
  11. I'm going to start calling you " The Bass whisperer".
  12. 15 years ago the Feds posted the Port Dover pier as NO FISHING. Hundreds fish that pier daily and it is a boom to the summer only town only surpassed by Friday the 13th bike rally. A long story short we protested with the support of the town council. The protest consisted of a few hundred anglers showing up on a Saturday to fish and the OPP was called. Signs or no signs people still fish there everyday when there is open water. No one owns open water other than the citizens of this country. Let me hear them tell an Aboriginal Native they can't fish where ever they want to.
  13. I don't know about that. I think loosing Smallies has more to do with the size of hole the hook makes but of course it shouldn't come out if tight, I'll give you that. If a fish jumps towards you slack is slack no matter what type of line.
  14. Braid and Seagar flouro for spinning reels and Big Game mono with a Seagar fluorocarbon leader for baitcasting. The lb. test depends on may factors, including what's on sale. I haven't used a metal leader for years.
  15. I also fried a brand new Deca by leaving it on trickle charge mode over the winter as recommended here by some. I take the things in for the winter now, set them on plywood and then trickle charge them until 100% full or 14V a day or so before installing them now. Going on 4 years, let's see.
  16. How far are you from rigging it with stuff until it sinks Brian? Maybe just lose weight when you need to. Any downriggers on there yet Brian? You go man.
  17. Yes it is true. I serviced my then new 2011 Silverado a few times at the dealers. I didn't like paying over 100 bucks for an oil change. A garage closer to me, actually across the street from my wife's store that sais they were qualified to do warranty service and work by GM. They even communicate with GM if there is a warranty issue before proceeding, check that they get approval to proceed before doing the work. I checked with GM and they reluctantly said yes he was qualified and approved to do so, there is an apparent difference. I had both of them write that down and sign it. Warranty work and general service is different. Being able to change oil etc. and rotate tires is far different than working on the tranny for example.
  18. My experience as well Mr. Cat. I got 7 on mine. Deka only for me here too. I shopped for something better I found out there isn't one better.
  19. Johnson Controls is the company. A battery distributor in Newmarket, my brother in law, told me Johnson Controls makes batteries for the major majority of the industry. Major majority? That must be a lot.
  20. Don't cheap out on a battery. The cheap batteries have a maximum number of times it can be charged from 20%. The better quality batteries have a higher number of maximum times it can be charged from 20%. 85% of all batteries manufactured are from the same company. I can't remember the company now. Something Instruments.
  21. I hate flies of any colour. Horse fly bites and my face blows up. We are going north for the opener and my Bro reminded me that I need to bring a mosquito hat and face thing. Oh no, I forgot about that.
  22. That's the best way Cliff, your right. As long as you don't get into brokers fees and customs duty. I think with Fed Ex you will.
  23. My money is on something simple. Shloim did say the battery was fully charged, but dead battery could show 15V and by the time it is connected it could be dead. Shloim, did you take the battery in for the winter? If you did I'm with Sinker on this one. Clean those connections until the copper shines.
  24. That is a wonderful gesture. The governments of Alberta as well as our Feds should be paying for all the gas needed by the refugees of McMurry. As well as food, water and shelter. A family pulls up in a car heading south from the city with only the shirts on their backs who do you think they are? The Griswald's going to Vegas? I don't remember to whom but read before the fire started the Fed's just earmarked 500K to a country for such an important reason I don't remember to whom or why? I hope this thread doesn't go political so I'm thinking about not posting this. It probably will anyway as soon as we know everyone is safe. Countdown to Syrian refugee comparisons, it's inevitable.
  25. I watched Jr's press conference this morning. He said all the right things. Now send the resources they need, be it money, fire fighters, military, whatever. Just do it. He should have had his ass there yesterday but I'm sure his people told him it's not safe, maybe. Nothing wrong with being south of the city and talking to the exodus of citizens on the highway. Take a lesson from Bush Jr's mistake of being late to New Orleans and see the loss from the ground not in a chopper a mile above. As soon as boots are on the ground in the city his should be 2 of them. No, he should be there now.
