  1. Welcome to our little community.
  2. The 7000 is too big for an all purpose reel for a beginner. Stick to the C4, if you get bitten by th pesky musky bug, you'll end up getting a 7000i for burning Cowgirls and Showgirls.
  3. A basic C4 for musky fishing a couple of times a year will do you fine. If you plan on fishing hardcore, you'll need to upgrade.
  4. I have the 300E and a 200D. The new Curado doesn't hold a candle to either. They are trying to have something in every price point. Quantum is guilty of this as well.
  5. Don't forget, you still have to get the junker home so it has to be relatively safe. The buy a boat for the trailer idea is probably your best bet.
  6. You have to reassert yourself as the Alpha. Stick your hand in his food and if he so much as growls, take his food away until he is ready to be nice. We have to remember that dogs are animals and need to be treated as such. I'd also say to get him checked out by the vet because you never know if an issue has cropped up for an older dog.
  7. I'd also look at what a new prop would cost. Repairing props can be just about as expensive as just buying new these days.
  8. I had a Winchester Ranger Model 1300 with a 28 and a rifled slug barrel. It was a great pump gun. If you can find one of those, go for it, it had a great action and I could shoot it almost as fast as a semi. You don't need a 3.5" chamber, the ammo is expensive and it'll really beat you up. 2 and 3/4 is sufficient for most game and if you need to upsize, 3" Magnum is plenty.
  9. They look real nice. Nice layout and features. I have an older Larson Fish'N'Ski and can attest to the ride quality of the VEC hull, nice dry ride. The build quality is pretty good too. No wood in the hull to rot and have to replace.
  10. Find out where the fuel tank is. Whatever is on top will have to be removed and then you can access the sending unit. Check your wiring to make sure it is a problem with the sending unit and not the guage itself or the wiring. Good luck.
  11. Sir Sam's just outside of Haliburton. Lots of lakes around and its a nice spot. We spent our first anniversary there. Plenty of things to do in the area. You can do a horseback riding trip into Algonquin that was a lot of fun, fishing, golfing, nice little shops in Haliburton....... The food and service are fantastic.
  12. I did some back ribs tonight as well with a really nice dry rub I put together and they were nice. You don't want to know what goes into your meat these days. The mass production and super farms and slaughter houses are ridiculous.
  13. DONT RUN IT AGAIN!!! It has to come apart to be rebuilt. Metal bits are BAD!! At this point, pull it apart to see what has failed. Then look for the cause. Sucky way to start the season.
  14. Good work Lew!! Checking connections is always the first thing to look at.
  15. Happy BDay!
  16. Start from the tank to The engine. My bet is that the pickup has degraded in the tank. Feul lines are ethanol resistant, not ethanol proof. The pickup sits in the fuel constantly. My buddy had this issue last year. If this isn't it then look closely at the venting for the tank. Good luck.
  17. Happy Birthday!!
  18. Try to see if the horn still works by doing what Bill said. Actually, before that, check the contacts to the horn to make sure one didn't come off while you were fiddling. If it works, then follow each wire to see where it goes and make sure it's connected. If you have a test light or voltage meter, make sure you have power. Good luck.
  19. Jeez that's a PIG, not a hog. Beautiful winter walleye!!
  20. Great report!!! That kind of adventure makes me want to try my hand at ice fishing.
  21. A 20 will be plenty. More than that they get kinda heavy and it's a fairly small boat so weight is a consideration.
  22. Plastics are brutally expensive. I usually fish with live bait for bass, pike and walleye (which I fish for the most second to Muskie). However, it's nice to have some plastic in the boat along with a rod when out with the family and the mood to fish strikes.
  23. They do good work there, they fixed up my seat cushions 2 years ago and I'm happy with their work. They can be a bit more expensive but their work is superior and is worth it.
  24. Bring lots of dough ray mee, a fully charged credit card and a knapsack filled with bottled water and some snacks cuz you get murdered in the park for drinks and snacks. We are planning on going next year so let us know how it was.
  25. Lew, check with your local building code. I had a gas stove put in my kitchen with a new gas line, well, an illegal fitting was used for the connection, no sealant was used and to boot, it was only on hand tight. When I had a gas fireplace installed in the basement, the gas fitter pointed this all out to me. The store shose service I used originally was out of business by then, good riddance, people like that don't deserve their jobs. As a former firefighter, you know not to mess with natural gas and propane. Look into it to make sure.
