There ya go!!! Getting the boat up on plane efficiently and having a good cruise speed/rpm is more imprtant than your top speed which for intensive purposes is the same. You will burn less fuel getting the boat to plane and will burn less while cruising. Now, get some slime all over her!!!

Check out your local tire shops. Many of them carry trailer tires and will likely have some decent pricing. My guy here in Oakville carries Hercules trailer tires and has had no problems with them. They are much cheaper than Carlisle and Goodyear. He has not steered me wrong in several years and several sets of tires. The rim and rubber I bought for a spare for the boat was cheaper than just the rubber at Princess Auto.

Had a couple issues today with the new to me boat

Change your impeller to start with. Check the fluid in the trim. Also, check out Iboats.com, the forums there are invaluable. You can download the Shop manual for your motor which can help to diagnose your problems. Also, you can post your issues and some of the regular contributors are oldtime marine mechanics who are incredible resources. PS. Do not run your boat again until you change the impeller. That should be done yearly on a boat that is run a lot. It is cheap insurance esp if you do it yourself. -
Pidge, Pisces Marine is the guy that used to be on 3rd Line, they moved. Be areful in dealing with them. Ifyou are only buying parts, thats ok, for service, thats another story. A buddy of mine had a few dealings with them and his last one involved the police and insurance fraud. I usually do not bash a business with one service issue, anyone can have a bad or off day but trying to scam a customer and his insurance company........

Matt, the so called dual purpose batteries deep cycle/starting are not real deep cycle batteries. They would not be my first choice for a trolling motor battery. They do not work as well with the depletion and recharge cycles. Get the biggest one you can afford or fit in your boat. As mentioned above, Costco is a great place to buy them.

Launching the new boat Saturday need advice.
bigbuck replied to Shloim's topic in General Discussion
3 things, remember the key, the plug and tie a line from the boat to the do k ag the launch before you let the boat loose so it does not drift away. Make sure you get a chart of the area. Wherever you go, have a current chart, best advice I was ever given. -

Great vid master jedi!! What a beast. Def on my bucket list. -
That thing is not normal!!! Crazy boat with obscene hp. 2100 litres of fuel will not go far in that thing if you hammer down on the fun stick. I figure that puppy goes for 300k or so.

You are not talking about a 5-10mph difference at wot. It is only 1-3 mph. I would worry more about getting on plane efficiently as well as having a good cruise speed.

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

Great news!!! Now go have some fun with your good lady. -
I just filleted a couple last weekend using the 5 fillet method, it works the best I think. Mmmmmmmm, spring pike. Now I want more and cant get back up north for 2 weeks.

You are pretty close to the top wot rpms. You are looking at 1-2 mph at the risk of screwing things up. I would worry more about getting on plane with a full load. If you go up a number in pitch, you will drop a couple hundred rpm and possibly gain top end but you won't get on plane as efficiently.

Fellas, don't even get me started on pension plans which several companies used as a cookie jar. A company pension plan should be just that, a pension plan, not some sort of reserve fund to pay for bonuses for underachieving ezecutive teams. The company Cliff mentioned was MARS, some sort of real estate deal thatvdid not go too well and the taxpayers are on the hook for the whole pill. 300+ milloon and counting. These sorts of deals should not exist with the government backing private enterprise that does not emply a whole whack of people. As for what happened in Hamilton with the steel companies, the feds and provincial governments did not put enough strings on their bailout funds. If the taxpayers pay to keep you in business, you have to stay in business or pay back the cash. All the retirees got left holding the bag, not fair.

Good for you!! 2 years ago I gave bell the heave ho. 7 years of spotty 'high' speed internet and static in the phone lines along with billing issue after billing issue I told them to 'take a ...... .... at a rolling doughnut' they offered me 1 year of free service after figuring out there were line problems. I'm with cogeco now and they are fine.

Cliff, I feel your pain!! I have been a financial advisor for 17 years and have now changed professions to slow down and enjoy my family more becausecof my health issues. Most people do not really know how much money they need salted away to have a relatively comfortable retirement, I am not talking about fancy vacations, just enough to keep he bills paid and food on the table and a couple bucks to fix the roof if need be. Seeing our hard earned tax dollars frittered away in boondoggle after boondoggle boggles my mind. We have been hosed to no end. The public service is swelling too much. Real taxpayers (people who work in the private sector) need to pay over $1.35 in tax to pay for every dollar paid out to the public sector. Timmy Whodat may have his head in the clouds with his numbers but face it, he is a politician after all. Shrinking or at least reigning in the bureaucracy needs to happen. Everyone complains about Mike Harris and how evil he was, he did what needed to be done and is vilified for it. There is a lot of fat in the public sector that needs to be trimmed. It is healthy, everyone in the private sector is asked to do more with less, why can't our public servants. I can go on and on for hours on this subject but I won't. Suffice it to say, we need change, I am not crazy about the choices but I worry about our kids and what they will have. As it stands, they are being left with one heck of a tab.

Lew, everyone here was a big help. I suggest the other site because all the manuals, etc... are available there free of charge as well as the know how from a bunch of old hand techs to help with the inevitable problems that come up with boat ownership. If you do not know much about boats, a diagram specific to your motor is a big help.

You could also hit long point bay. Thete are lots of shore fishing opps there. Problem with chartering is the price of fuel, go shore fish somewhere, a dozen or two crawlers and you can afford to have a good lunch or dinner with the lads. Just a thought.
-
Iboats.com is a huge help if you are new to boating. The more specific you are as to your boat and motor, model number and or serial number someone there could probably tell you exactly how to fix your problem.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your pal.

San diego jam knot works awesome for fluoro. I use it to tie 50 lb quick strike rigs for pike.

Fish fry!!!! Nice slabs.

On many an outing, my daughter's dora the explorer rod was the hot stick, whether it was panfish or pike. Hopefully, your little guy will develop a passion for fishing.

If you are running at or close to your max rpm hen stick with what you have. If you have 2-300 rpm of room, go to the next size down, ie. current prop 21p, go to a 19p. You may lose a couple ofmph at top speed but boat will plane more efficiently saving you fuel.

Ripping up the old carpet in the basement @ the cottage and maybe I might get to wet a line for some pike..... maybe.
