  1. ...and that's why I am catch and release. Probably 3 years maybe more since I kept anything. I am so so about the taste of fish. If somebody else cleaned it, ok. If I gotta do it myself? Not gonna happen
  2. feeling confident. Although if winds actually behave this time I likely go to St Clair
  3. and here I am thinking of putting the boat in scugog in a week or so
  4. Wow that sucks. Stopped in there one time to get a quote, he had lots of neat stuff around, I was impressed by the work (never did get that replica done!)
  5. right on! Seems like every time I have a chance to fish its ridiculous winds. Off tomorrow...for instance
  6. my friends hit kawarthas instead...got a boat at balsam and 2 at pigeon...hope to live vicariously through them
  7. Guess it all depends on the amt you plan to use it. Fishing alone that size is ok, fishing with others I agree to go bigger. I have a 4 person...we fish comfortably with 2, and not so comfortably with 3. As far as quality...I bought a cheap one USED off someone on this site about ten years ago...still using it! But I only get out two or three times a year. For that amt of use it does just fine. Gonna fish twice a week? Then go better quality
  8. oh ya been there done that. My last trip had same results...still great to get out tho
  9. good stuff looking forward to see it. I have buddies hitting a few different spots tomorrow...lucky me...I get to go to the mother-in-laws birthday party instead
  10. With the water always being chocolate milk out that way (Thames) I believe the fish are accustomed to that type of water. Near Belle River the water is more often clearer, so I think the fish are accustomed to that. Throwing some mud at the Belle River fish I think will shut them down. I could be wrong...but not gonna drive 6 hours round trip to test the theory!
  11. they need to sign a few guys who can strike out a bit more. It was maddening watching them make some of the Cleveland pitchers look untouchable.
  12. I'll tell you what's frustrating...driving 6 hours round trip to fish there for 6 hours and seeing nothing. That makes for a long tiring ride home!
  13. With last weeks winds those fish have had a week off! Should be good tomorrow good luck and let us know
  14. ok now I feel better. I made the call to go to kawarthas because I figured St C would be real tough. When kawarthas cough up the goose egg you wonder if you made the wrong call. Sounds like the last few days would have been tough on the south shore as well
  15. So what's the latest word?
  16. ...and it gets better. So many big talkers.."I am gonna move to Canada...blah blah blah" All these whining celebrities will stay exactly where they are, and continue to collect their millions of dollars a year. Not one will move. I wish there was a way to force them to keep their word, but they are a lot like the politicians in that regard...they won't!
  17. went to kawarthas and struck out mightily
  18. although Trudeau and Trump are totally opposite people, they are both totally unprepared to run a country...so I do see the parallel.
  19. anyone else have thoughts? I see winds still from the north today and were strong last night. Will she be mud or maybe just a silty greyish greenish hue with a foot or two of visibility?
  20. Although I dislike both candidates, what really amazes me is the "shock" by so many in the states (and elsewhere). Its like so many on "that" side just felt everyone must think like them. Reminds me of when Bush won for the second time. The haters were so vocal they just seemed to believe everyone (aka all the silent people) agreed with them
  21. there is always the kawarthas I suppose!
  22. 25 k north today, 40 k north tomorrow...and then 35 k south on Thursday. Thursday is the day I plan to go...so can tolerate that wind. But I wonder if the visibility will be a whopping zero after these big winds from the north. Stained water great...but the chocolate milk I am not a fan of. Would the two days of north wind make it look brown like the Thames out there? Cuz if I want to fish water like that I will drive a shorter distance and do Thames!
  23. Surprised but not surprised. I used to shop there a lot during the 1990's (Mississauga store). I always found the pricing good but I also found the guys that worked in the rods/reels dept...you know the guys behind that counter....to be rude and condescending...wouldn't give you the time of day
  24. I was out there today in the Belle river area. Water is 51 degrees. We got 3 trolling 46, 36, 34. Floating weeds were a bit of a problem but not the worst I eve saw. We trolled around 3.5 mph
  25. right on nice fish
