I went to the garden center Saturday and got my onion sets and seed potatoes. Bring it on I say. Thx for sharing the pic Lew

I agree 100%. I wouldn't consider taking my friends out like that...let alone a paying customer. If an accident was to happen and they got there butt's sued...they'd be wishing they did it right..from the beginning.

Debbe lets me have 2 of those shiny blue bills a week. Sometimes 3 a week if I am really good

That got my morning smirk of approval :thumbsup_anim:

Have you researched your area? And when are you going? I have done 4 Fly-ins out of the Chapleau area...as soon as the ice is off and the season first opens. Worms where pretty much useless in the cold early season water on all four lakes we tried. The eyes wanted minnows. They would outfish worms by a mile. Just throwing that out there. If it comes down to taking one or the other...make sure you have what's working.

Best Beer Commercial Out there
crappieperchhunter replied to MCTFisher9120's topic in General Discussion
This is my favourite commercial...hands down -
My first concern for a tackle store would be there hours of operation. Most do the 9-5 hours...which to me is unacceptable...especially if the store also sells live bait. Have the bait shop open at 5AM EVERY morning or bare minimum Friday through Sunday mornings. And this is coming from a guy who rarely buys live bait. Store hours 8AM to 9 or 10 PM everyday, maybe close at 6PM Sundays. Also location. Right handy to a Timmies would be a one stop shopping trip. I have always thought that if I opened a tackle store my first step would be getting a location close to a 24 hour coffee shop. As far as tackle goes...that is left up to what your target market is and what fishing opportunities are local. Knowledgeable helpful staff is great as well...but to me...not near as important as your location or your hours of operation.

Thx for sharing that Brian...that is indeed what it's all about. Our whole gang was over tonight for our sons 22nd birthday. My grandson was just streaking around here 30 minutes ago...Grandma was trying to coral him for a bath. I'd love to share those pictures...but Debbe and my daughter might not find it as funny as I would

Leave Andy out to protect your property Cliff. I'm sure he could lick somebody to death

Unless you are the most vigilant rod/line watcher on the planet...if you do any amount of carping at all for decent sized carp...you are going to lose a rod/reel one of these days with a set up like that. If you have not already you are extremely lucky

Like Beansie mentioned all ingredients are purchased at local feed stores in either 25 or 40 KILO bags. My groundbait mixture is 3 parts molasses,3 parts Linseed oil cake, 2 parts calf starter and 1 part pig chop and 1 part chicken scratch. Because I use very little pig chop or chicken scratch a 40 kilo bag of these last me 3-4 seasons. The other stuff lasts a full season per bag.

On payday this past week the plant manager called an ALL STAFF meeting. Seems we exceeded all our target numbers for last year...so in appreciation...we all got bonus cheques for 3.9% of last years pay. Roughly 2 weeks pay for a bonus. :thumbsup_anim: Not as "Feel good" nice as your lead off story bushart...but totally unexpected AND appreciated. My Crystal Ball has predicted new fishing toys in the near future ..unless of course it gets trumped by Debbe's Honeydew crystal ball

For hook bait I boil corn in water with anise and strawberry koolaid crystals. For my ground bait I use a mixture of pig chop, calf starter, molasses, chicken scratch and linseed oil cake. And I mix it up with the saved water from boiling the corn. This combo catches me carp all season long in the Kawartha's.

I guess they know where the red meat eating carnivores live. I have a huge fascination with turkeys for some reason. I'm always craning my neck to see if I could spot some in the fields when I'm heading anywhere. I would love to have them parading around my yard like you do. I could watch them for hours.

Welcome aboard Sean. Some nice chrome you got there. Thx for sharing the pictures with us.

Who Controls All Our Money . . . ? (NF Rant)
crappieperchhunter replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
Well look what crawled out from under a rock It was good to see you post my friend. I kinda share the same opinion as Roy...I guess I'm just numb from it now...they have wore me down to the point of not even registering concern as they bend me over. However I really am concerned about the future for my kids sometimes. I truly believe they are the first generation in my life time that are going to be worse off then the previous generations. It had to happen sometime. It is just unfortunate that most of the generation has never been taught how to be frugal...was never a need in the recent ages of plenty...so they are like lambs to the slaughter. On a more cheery note. Carp fishin is just around the corner -
New CT store coming to Bowmanville
crappieperchhunter replied to ketchenany's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately I have to agree with you Joey. CT has become a real disappointment in the last 5-6 years with regards to actually having the flyer stuff available when you go into the store. In the fall they had something I was looking for in there flyer. The 3 closest stores in Durham region had a grand total of 1 item between them in inventory....BEFORE the sale even started. Nobody, no how can ever convince me that this is an acceptable business practice -
New CT store coming to Bowmanville
crappieperchhunter replied to ketchenany's topic in General Discussion
I hear you on both counts Shayne. The Bowanville CT is the closest one for me to go too and I'm never in it for the same reasons you stated. And the Lindsay store is the best CT I have ever been in. -
First thread I opened this morning. What a great way to start my working day :thumbsup_anim: Very glad to hear the good news

Stag & Doe Etiqutte.....totally non fishing...as 100% NF
crappieperchhunter replied to Cookslav's topic in General Discussion
I agree 100%. I think it is very inconsiderate to have a destination wedding...unless of course you are footing the bill for everyone you want to be there to attend. -
Good weather and a good turnout. Big Cliff and I had a great morning chasing perch...and...herring. Don't know how many herring we caught, but it was lots. If the season ever reopens Cliff & I know one spot that is idiot proof for catching as many as you could want Had a good visit with many while I enjoyed some burgers and dogs and then a coffee and I was on my way home. Thx again for a good day on the water Cliff.

Am I Going to be OK?; Are you Going to be OK?
crappieperchhunter replied to Entropy's topic in General Discussion
You are 100% correct....many many of us don't know what hard times are... myself included... and I'm thankful for that. Your Saturday morning ritual is my Thursday night one...cause that's when the paper comes out with all the flyers Debbe and the kids learned a long time ago not to mess with the Thursday newspaper before I got the flyers out of it -
