  1. No music on the water for me either, but I doo have a few tunes I crank on the way. 50 mission cap by the hip has been lucky, and keep on rockin in the free world is good any time! S.
  2. ALWAYS DIP THE NET!!! ALWAYS!!! S.
  3. Simcoe whities are very fat. I still love them though. I'm not big on lakers from anywhere unless they're smoked. Just like the reel peel. EVERY lake is polluted to some extent.....so is the air. I bet just breathing is worse than eating a few fish from lake simcoe. S.
  4. ^ silly question!! Go fishing....obviously! S.
  5. There is good fishing right from that resort. There is an outcropping of rocks between the two beaches that can be good, and if you go all the way to the end of the beach closest to the main resort, the fishing in that channel can be awesome! Also take a troll on the hobie cats. Some of the operators won't let you take fishing gear, just find the right guy, and have the right amount of CUC's and you'll get some good trolling in for cuda's. Good luck!! You can also rent bikes and go touring the bridges. I forget what numbers they are, but there is a good one just before you get to the resort on your bus ride out....have a look. Good fishing, and a pretty main channel. Night time is usually best. Fish the incoming tide and you'll have all sorts of action. Bring LOTS of line, hooks, and weights of various sizes from small to very large. You never know what you'll need, depending on whats around while your there. Post a report, and let us know how ya make out!!! S. S.
  6. I was thinking along the lines of Brians idea too. I saw a guy on simcoe with skis on his ssnowmobile trailer, but the wheels went thru the wheels just enough to make contact with the road as well. Pretty slick idea, and worked like a charm. S.
  7. Lews story reminds me of a trip to simcoe quite a few years ago. A buddy of mine and his father came with us with their two machines on their trailer. We had a great day fishing whities and lakers, but it got nasty on our way back to shore. We were about 13km out from jacksons point. We got to shore with no issues, but thhe drive home in a blizzard sucked bigtime. We got to my buddies place where we planned to spend the night. He has a very long driveway with harvested fields on either side. The snow was drifting so bad into his lane that we couldnt make it to the house, so we unhooked both trailers from the trucks, and left them about 1/4 mile off the road, stuck in the drifts. We didnt even think twice about it, drove the trucks to the house, did up a wicked fish fry, stuffed our faces, drank lots, and jammed on the guitars until the wee hours of the morning. GREAT time!! What its all about to me! We got up the next morning gung ho to dig out the trailers/sleds, and they were both gone. All 4 machines and both trailers taken right out of the driveway, less than 1/4 mile from the room we sat and enjoyed a great evening in. What a piss off! Nothing worse than a theif, especially a fellow fisherman or hunter. I hope you get them in your crosshairs, they deserve it!!! S.
  8. Biggest ice laker I ever caught was on Joe. Lots of good fish in there if you know where to go I guess. Nice report! I haven't been up there for a long time! S.
  9. If the snow is real deep, I still break out my 48" woodd/sinew rackets. You just cant beat them if you want to stay on top of the snow. If theres a foot or less, the new style shoes do have their advantages. I have both. Like said above by shag, the military shoes are pretty good too. I have a pair of them I use once in a while too. S.
  10. I know the feeling bud. My lab passed away on canada day. Ive always had a dog, and ive found it easiest to get a new one asap. I have a new black lab now, and find myself calling him the wrong name once in a while. They are all so different, you never forget the quirks of any dog you've had. The memories live on forever. Keep your chin up. Things will get better. S.
  11. Yep thats a fair price, but you should really try and find a fuel injected model. Soooo smooth. If my engine ever decides to quit (93 yamaha built 40hp mariner) thats what I will be bolting on the back of my starcraft. S.
  12. Fresh halibut is on my bucket list. When I do catch one, I might not be able to resist the urge to take a bite of it while its still moving lol S.
  13. Been there a couple times now. What resort are you staying at? There are some good shore fishing spots for sure. Ive never done a guide, mostly because I hear they arent that great there. We had lots of fun fishing from shore. Im headed back the first week of april. S.
  14. A 16ft tiller is pretty much the most versitile boat for all around use IMO. Hard to beat if your a multi species angler who just loves to fish and hunt. That said, I would love to have a bigger, more comfortable boat for big water trolling, and another smaller tinny for bushwhackin. My 16 starcraft does all that, but is far from perfect for each scenario. I'll never get rid of it though. I'll have it as long as I live. S.
  15. Driving to Lindsay, through millbrook, is probably closer than driving to Trenton. The ski's are here if you want them. They are downhill skis, perfect for a sled. I've been saving them for a few years just for that purpose, but used UHMV plastic on mine instead. Anyways, the offer stands if you want them. S.
  16. There is no perfect boat. Every man needs a fleet of boats S.
  17. Man, I feel for ya. That sucks. And to think you drove right by thhe guy!! What a piss off!!!! S.
  18. I have a pair of skis you can have. Im in millbrook. Come and get them if you want them. Pm for directions. S.
  19. Yourself. Dont worry about what others think. Just be you, and do what you believe in. You're already doing that my friend.
  20. In the right conditions youu could easily drive out, but its not a good idea righht now....unless you want to shovel a road the whole way! S.
  21. I cant speak for simcoe, but where I was fishing the sleds were working hard to get around! Snow over the windshield and in my face the whole way. A mazda 3?? Yeah, NOPE!! S.
  22. 9000km is getting up there for a sled. The big fancy machines are for riding trails. For icefishing, you just need aa basic machine that is reliable to get from A to B. The lighter the better, and fan cooled if you can. That Jag is a great sled. S.
  23. There is no pleasing everyone!!!
  24. I spend $25 on lots of musky lures. Its an addiction!! S.
  25. That comment will jinx you for sure. You may as well put the ice gear away.....hahaha
