  1. Haven't lost much down an ice hole, but went out fishing solo one summer morning in the boat. It was a little cool, so I put on some light pants over my shorts. I spent a few hours fishing, and started getting hot, so took the pants off, folded them up, and sat them on the seat of the boat next to me. Moved to another spot, got there and realized my pants had blown out of the boat somewhere down the lake. In those pants was my wallet, and keys to my vehicle. GONE! Cost me a fortune to replace all my licenses, and had to call my wife to bring the spare keys. S.
  2. If hikers can hike, bikes can bike, and birdwatchers can watch birds, fisherman should be able to fish. I'm all for protecting it, but banning fishing is Bull. S.
  3. Thats not bad.....its a dry cold! LOL S.
  4. Were you drinking? LOL I can't form that deep around here. The frost is only a foot, maybe two in the ground/ ice, so ice would melt that far down. Definitely weird. S.
  5. Never did hear from ya G. Still want the trap? S.
  6. Nice haul miami! And thanks for confirming! Find some hard bottom with gobies and the perch will be with them. S.
  7. 30+
  8. The weather net hype pisses me off. It wouldnt be so bad if they actually got it right. 4" of snow and everyone is in panic mode. The scariest part of these "storms" are the idiots who believe the hype. S.
  9. Id say your lucky too. Tell me that happened loading it and not cruising down the hwy? Yikes!
  10. People just dont know how to drive any more. Speed limit? Whats that? S.
  11. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. I use a mh clarus spinning with 30lb braid. Works great. S.
  12. Im wondering the same. If you find out, let me know. I prefer tim hales over floyds, but right now I think I'd go with Steves out of pefferlaw. He usually runs huts for perch out a little deeper than most, and I think that's where the perch are. The bite has kinda sucked in closer. Its worth a phone call for sure. S.
  13. I was impressed with how quick my outdoors card came. My passport too.....had it in 5 days. Now to renew my PAL....this one will take a while I would suspect. Sucks I had to renew everything this year. Its cost me a fortune! S.
  14. Less than an hour from my driveway S.
  15. Hey Cliff, hows your head? Hehe S.
  16. Pm me a number, maybe I can drop it off at your work or something?
  17. I work the weekend coming, off the next, but isnt that the long weekend? If so, im not sure yet where i'll be. Could be quinte, but that itch has kinda been scratched, time for different water. S.
  18. The new roofs fail so quick because of shoddy carpenters, and garbage building supplies. 3/8 plywood is all thats on those roofs. You can kick thru it with one shot no problem. The trusses are up and down like yo-yos and most subdivision framers SUCK and dont give a darn about their work. I could go on and on....subbdivision homes are made as cheap as possible, and use the worste tradesman going. Total garbage. I would buy a 100yr old house over a brand new subdivision built house. S.
  19. I have a trap if you want to borrow it. PTBO area, but I fish quinte often this time of year. Planning on going wed for the evening if you want to meet up somewhere. S.
  20. Steel roofs are only noisy if your attic isnt insulated. Cant even hear the rain on ours. The real benifit is in winter....snow doesnt pile up and make ice dams like it does with shingles. I loved our steel roof at our last house, and its what sold it too! Shingles are just bad in every aspect IMO. S.
  21. IF you can afford it, put metal on it. Period. Done deal, never have to deal with it again, and good for resale as well. I can't believe your shingles are toast after only 11 years. They are probably 25 yr shingles too. Such a rip off. If you re-shingle, you will have to strip what you have off, and take them to the landfill, and pay by weight. Shingles aren't light! And they don't degrade in a landfill. Leave them on there, strap right over top of them, and put on metal. The question regarding keeping the house cooler in the winter, the answer is no. The reason it stays cooler in summer is because of the air space between the metal, and the old existing shingles. If the shingles don't get hot, the roof stays cooler, which in turn keeps the house somewhat cooler. S.
  22. Right on! Chris is one member of the board I have not met, but always wanted to. I might have to rent his hut sometime now! Thanks for the report! S.
  23. Lots of cops on 401 eastbound to quinte today too. Seemed like every other on ramp had radar. Gl in court. S.
