The year is shaping up to be messed up already. Ice was only completely gone yesterday, but not a single crappie on the ice spots, but lots of walleye in 30’FOW…?!?!?? So..... went for bass in the shallows and not a single bass either??!?? Was trolling around some shore lines of the bays and the water temps were 50F max…and what do I see swimming towards me suspended over 6’FOW? a school of crappie, I set the bobber to 6” and watched them grab the minnow….way too early in my experience to sight fish them in the shallows…another weird year is on the cards.2 points

Mine was a '65 Pontiac convertible identical to the one pictured 'cept mine was dark green with white converible top and white interior. Riding in this beauty was like driving your living room couch. To this day I wish I'd never sold it.1 point

Leafs vs bruins. leafs drop passed and slept to be down 3-0 and then started to play. Hey why play 60min when you can play hard for 20 and ot and win. entertaining anyway. we need one defensive defence man for the playoffs.1 point

Cool. Took me a second to realize what I was looking at. Chicks look like fuzzy piles of mold, amazing that they grow into something so regal looking. Not the most comfy looking nest either.1 point

After the big ice storm a few weeks back most folks have power back but a bunch of cottages on islands in Stoney Lake are still in the dark. I'm just south of Burleigh Falls and today the hydro crews have started working to restore them and I guess some islands had the hydro poles knocked down because the hydro helicopters are flying directly above my house carrying new poles. Interesting to watch these guys work. Not the best picture but you get the idea. A lot of folks around me have stand-by generators so we were all OK but those without are probably thinking of getting one.1 point

I'm on a small sideroad just a few minutes south of Burleigh Falls and it looks like a hurricane went through here, much like many other places. Problem being though with our location I would guess we may be on the bottom of the list for Peterborough County or Selwyn Township to get around to cleaning the mess up.1 point

Most know I have been a toon guy for the past 10 years or so . After many air leaks and then the big blow out last year, I had enough and decided I would either go yak or a small tinny . Put out a , ISO either a yak or tinny, but nothing crazy priced . Got a response from a local Barrie guy about a 12 ft light tinny . Went and had a look see . It was just what I needed. Light , deep and easy to handle . Fits in the back of the Ram and will be there til the notty is unfishable in the fall . First on the agenda will be whitie opener here on Simcoe . Maybe a laker chase or 2 . Then I want to fly fish for some bass and what not all summer . Then the fall salmon and bow runs on the notty . Powerd only by electric motor that I have had for a few years now from fisherman . It pushes this tin banger to almost 4mph . Made sure all was good and now ready for next weekends opener . After thoughts of needed things . A clamp on seat base . I have a nice folding padded seat still from my toons along with strong oars aswell . Bench seats are low and hard on the knees . Maybe an extendable handle so I can sit on the middle bench . Hard to steer the electric from the back bench . Nice to be back in the game for $300 . 😃 Simple man, simple float boat .1 point

I moved out here to the country in late '96 and after the ice storm of '98 I made sure that I had a genny ready. Fortunately my well pump is 110V so I can get by quite fine with a 3k machine. I'm on propane now too so I can run furnace, hot water, well pump, freezers and fridge along with plenty of led room lights so I can get by quite fine. Don't need power for my stove either. I wouldn't be without one anymore.1 point

30 people came in for day the John, they left me a small bowl of Chili for my own dinner. I may need to invest in a bigger pot.1 point

Hockey, what's that, lol. We all know the final outcome. Them winning the cup is like Haley's comet, comes once in a lifetime unless it happens when you're a baby and live to be a ripe old fart. Then you're really lucky, but at either end your eyesight will probably be the sh..1 point

Well I'm torn as to my favourite as there were a few but these two are the standouts. I learned to drive in my Uncles fully loaded 1976 Grand Prix, man this car could move. This is not the car but it was exactly the same colour scheme that he owned, T roof and all. Once I was a licensed driver my Mom gave me the keys to my late father's 1972 Ford Torino that as a high schooler I pimped out as best I could including L-50 slicks on Baby Moon rims. Man I loved that car! This is not the actual car but it was much the same as this one, right down to the colour. I'll leave my 1978 Olds Delta 88 for another day, but boy she not only floated down the highways and biways, she could also accelerate like a rocket.1 point

First and only brand new vehicle I ever bought for myself. Wish I still had it.1 point

I had 2 favorite cars. First was a 73 Cutlas with the 350 Rocket for a motor. A lot of high school memories with that car. One story, working at a gas station, I got to know the OPP guys quite well as they always got gas here. Working midnights, one buddy cop came in with a couple spray bombs of green paint. He told me to get the rear quarter panels painted as there was an APB on my car. After high school, I owned a 1981 Subaru Brat. That thing was bomb proof! I raced it on weekends, spent Monday getting it back together so I could get to work, only to race it again the following weekend. I even made Petersons Offroad Magazine with it! (these are just images off the net).1 point

Ever since I was young I was always a fan of driving big boats as opposed to some of my buddies who were into muscle cars. With 3 kids I mostly owned 4 door Buicks, probably more LeSabres than any other model but the nicest one I had was a Park Avenue Ultra. Some of them were strictly summer cars while having a winter beater and always a 4x4 pickup year round. Nicest car I ever had by far though that I bought from a mechanic buddy in the late 80's's was a '73 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with a Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance package. Barry had completely redone the interior in a brushed velour that drew constant comments from onlookers, sitting in those front Captain's seats was more comfy than any furniture I had ever sat on. With a 502 engine it had tons of power and just about every option available including auto dimming headlights and coil over airbags in the rear. Even though I never drove it in the winter eventually the frame in spots got past the point of doing any more repairs on it and I had to scrap it even though the body was till pretty good. Similar to this photo with the same wheel covers but with the super wide whitewalls, that car was a real looker that I loved driving for the dozen or so years I had it. Even drove it to Kipawa one year and rented a boat from Alwaki lodge. Got stopped by the QPP about 5 miles from Kipawa, I was barely speeding but the cop told me he really just wanted to take a good look at the car lol. For years every time I went up there Mary the lodge owner's wife would comment on it as it was parked in their lot for the week.1 point
