  1. My plan was to wake up,tie half an order then hit the river for a fish and get me a silver smoker. Then home prep and finish the order. I could not have scripted this any better 😆 I am happy ,customer order out.

  3. Don't cut off your old plug straight across. Stagger the wires so you don't end up with a big clump of splices all in once place. Cut the green wire 2" from the plug, the yellow one 3".. brown one 4" and the white one longer than that. Do the opposite with your new plug and this way your trailer harness won't end up looking like a python that just ate a gazelle.

  5. The fact you saw a musky says everything. I’ve spent many days musky fishing and seeing no fish. Put it this way, in all of my actual musky fishing on Georgian bay, I’ve managed one fish. as far as you experiencing difficulty with the baitcaster, im thinking it can be solved with more practice. Thumbing the spool is a bit of an art but spend a year casting baits hard and you’ll get the hang of it. also braid is always easier to learn on than fluro. also that abu…crank enough bucktails on it and it will explode anyways and leave you needing to buy a new reel anyways. How do I know? From experience lol.

  6. Leah and I took her guest into town today to get her on her way home. Lakeland's houseboats were coming in at the same time and while wishing our guest a safe drive home I kept looking at this guy on the street beside his jeep and boat on a trailer and he at me. He finally said "Wayne?" and walked over. Chris took the high road, shook my hand and apologized for the nonsense that the two of us got into a few years ago and I reciprocated and thanked him for same. A great but short meet up, but was good morning as life is way too damn short for grudges!

  7. Actually, in a lot of aircraft harness connectors you have to use crimps on the pins or sockets before inserting them in the connector because with solder the wire is too stiff and from the constant vibration the wire can break off at the joint. So different methods for different applications

  8. Never knew that was the name but at times in aircraft instrumentation that was a splice we used. Just had to make sure you put the shrink sleeve over one wire before doing it. We also had to show the joint to an inspector before sleeving it.

  13. That's exactly what it bit, I love those Duo Realis baits.. I found a guy down in the states who makes muskie sized spybaits. Hopefully putting them to work once the water cools down a bit.

  17. I fished them almost exclusively for 5 or 6 years, (limited success). Accumulated probably $1000 + in Muskie baits. Always fished the same 3 or so..😳. Black and Orange spinnerbait, Same colour Double 10, Jailbird Believer, Clown Jerkbait.

  18. So it seems that waterproofing to the extent that this is possible is the way to go? I've never used insulated crimp terminals.. I'll look into this method. Thanks

  20. Yep, the best way to become handy is with practice and success. If you want to improve on that splice to ensure better waterproofing, before you use the shrink tubing use some goop on each end of the butt splice and then shrink it. In the aircraft industry we use milspec environmental splices that have a ring of sealant on each end that melts from the heat gun as the tube shrinks.

  21. Just seeing that nice fish on your 1st trip makes it worthwhile and it's something you'll remember for a while, some guys go all season without seeing one. The north end of Pigeon is far better than the south just for all the different types of structure available. It's a big lake and takes some time to figure it out but you'll get there and feel comfortable and confident moving around from one structure type to another.

  22. My advice fwiw is to buy a new (or used) decent quality rod and reel. If it turns out that you just can't get into Musky fishing, you can always sell it and usually recover a good percentage of your investment. And if it turns in to an addiction, you've got something that will serve you well, without thinking that you need to immediately upgrade. If you buy something "cheap"...you're not going to enjoy using it...and since it's of low value you'll have a difficult time trying to sell it, if you decide to move up to something better or it turns out that Musky are just not for you. So even though you initially spent less, you end up eating the $$. Just my experience when it comes to fishing gear...and frankly a lot of other things too.. I have run many businesses over the years, and this philosophy has always served me well.
