  1. An electric beaver that’s what we all need

  2. I suspected the payload would be very low with the weight of the batteries and what do you do when it is on a remote lake without enough charge to get back to base, plug it into a currant bush ?

  3. Thanks for the heads up, picked up a pair today. I thought they would be marginally lighter than my Baffins, but these things weigh less than my running shoes. Normally wear a 10, but first tried the 12 because of this thread, and they fit perfect. Came home, went for a walk in the back woods and they are amazing.

  4. I saw that as well Wayne. Your probably correct about them not being readily available for some time, but if we look at the advancements in vehicle technology, things are moving pretty fast. It's start! BTW - I think I prefer a passive beaver vs electric! I aint gettin any younger! HH

  6. Since October 31st I've been stepping away from another great employer and a little bit into the unknown. Have never been fired but have been forced a number of times to change the path. Nurses/physicians have high, if not the highest rates of burnout for any profession, especially in both the emergency and mental health sectors, so sometimes it becomes necessary to look deep within and change for the better. Other times, it's looking out there and finding some greener grass then making the move, even if that means taking less income in order to keep happy. Had my back-up against the wall a couple times over the years and walked away. Whether you're fired or stepping down, there's always some stress to go along with that.

  8. Prop noise is still there, just won't hear it chugging along taxing. Nothing you'll need to worry about Joe, as you won't be riding in one in your lifetime. Everyone thought the test flight was done fairly light, but he was almost at gross weight with just him and the batteries!

  12. I see them in massive schools here on Lake Ontario Paul and always thought it was a shame they aren't highly regarded for their edibility. There's soooooooo many of them! I think they're members of the herring family so very oily and wouldn't taste good prepared in traditional methods, me thinks. They're super bony too. But I've read about a guy who cast a net for them and smoked them and said they tasted pretty good. Id probably pass, though. lol

  13. In all my years on the job Paul, I never even heard of a net being used although when I 1st went on the job 50 odd years ago we did carry one on an old aerial.

  14. They were always around, in the spring and fall they were thick. In 2014 they were so numerous you could cast and bring in 2 or 3 of them hooked on your lure at times. they were maybe 2 to 4 inches long. I stood on the bank of the Ohio river for an hour one day as a continuous stream 4 or 6 feet wide of Shad hugging the bank swimming down river. Hardly any since then. Heavy rains and high water is the thing that may be messing up the spawn in spring. I don't know. It was the 1st of August before the rivers around here finally dropped to normal levels and cleared up this last year.

  15. Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. "Like sitting on the couch, watching TV and drinking wine is not a good thing?" I asked. Talking about my "doing-something-useful" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was "only thinking of me", she said and suggested that I go down to the Senior Center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night, I decided to play a prank on her. I e-mailed her and told her that I had joined a Parachute Club. She replied, "Are you nuts? You are 73 years old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I told her that I even got a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her. She immediately telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, dad, where are your glasses?" This is a membership in a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club!" "Oh man, I'm in trouble again," I said, "I really don't know what to do. I signed up for five jumps a week!" The line went quiet and her friend picked up the phone and said that my daughter had fainted. Life as a Senior Citizen is not getting any easier, but sometimes it can be fun.

  16. Hey, I heard that LOL Most lakes do seem to be frozen over around here although I have no idea how thick this ice is but with some colder weather on the way this week is should certainly improve things.

  18. Funny this comes up as I am looking for an Employment Lawyer right now due to my situation. I was working at Lindsay Kia and it was recently sold and they let me go the end of the day right before the new owners took over. No letter and no final compensation paid out.
