TJQ Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Finally made it back in. Been an incredibly busy first half of summer.. almost 8 weeks of steady company threw wrenches into Camp plans. However.. we're starting this year with some new gear. New CRV, new aluminum trailer.. and most importantly a new Honda Rubicon. Covid had put much of our new equipment plans on hold but business is back to normal again.. actually better than ever.. so it was time to get er dun. My old 4 wheeler 2001 Rubicon was getting a little old in the tooth.. and will now be retired for farm duty here at home. I'm seeing big rides in my future as I've also staked some claims near camp and will be taking out my prospecting gear once again.. only this time at my leisure. So Monique and I headed up on Monday and thankfully this time the bugs had subsided.. two weeks ago it was near unbearable. Monday was hot so put in a tiny ac that we used to have for the tents.. worked like a charm and didn't hardly stress the genny. I took a day for a big ride down to the area I want to go over which is nicely accessible. Also got up close and personal with a big bull moose.. huge rack and completely covered in velvet, and the rest of the time was spent chilling on the dock, eating and of course trolling up and down the river a couple times a day. Fishing was fantastic.. nothing big in size but 20 to 30 pike and bass per run. All barbless and c and r. We spent a bit of time at our pickeral spot one evening and managed three eating sized ones not very big.. put about a dozen put back but we've never in 15 years landed a big one in our stretch of the river which remains a mystery to me. Brought the office with me as well and was able to spend a half hour a day keeping up with customer service. Also late last year we invested in a new fish cooker and a cast iron wok. Wings and fish are staples for us up there and I got to tell ya.. what a job that thing does.. also made myself a nice 2 in thich white pine cutting board for fish cleaning outta the bugs lol.. anyway here's some pics. Enjoy. 14

wkrp Posted August 8 Report Posted August 8 Wow prosciutto and wine. Fine dining in the bush. Cheers!
jum-bowes Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Nice fish and fine dining. If you are on the river below Fox rapids and want to catch some nicer Walleye it might take some work as that's a shallower part of the river. I have fished the bottom of the next set of rapids down river and caught an 8lber, and three over 16'' on the same trip (4 years ago). The local guy that used to fish it regularly moved away 2 years ago so the fishing should be great. 1/4 Oz Chartreuse jig and a leech. Tis work pulling the boat back up though.
TJQ Posted August 24 Author Report Posted August 24 Lol.. oh ya I've been down there.. inadvertently once.. great swimming spot.
