Musky or Specks Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Saw open water on Fork lake on the AP webcam
irishfield Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Ice breaker finally made it to Midland Harbour... only took them 2 weeks !! lol
Maverick Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Here is the front yard, Lake Nipissing by the mouth of the Sturgeon River. Starting to break up. The mouth of the river is open and you can hear the ice moving. Had some good wind today and rain in the forecast for the next two days.
Big Cliff Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 Was up in Minden yesterday Head lake had lots of open water but still some ice. There is still some snow in the bush but most of that is gone now. Miners Bay still had a fair bit of ice but I think that was mostly from the wind.
irishfield Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 Here's the only "open water" in front of my dock, as of yesterday! What was our ice road is now a long swimming pool.. allowing folks to see how their sleds run on open water, just so they know if they ever get into trouble. Great opportunity ...with a built in 25" ice security blanket underneath!!
Bernie Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 Thats a lot of fun Wayne. Did that a couple weekends ago. Was out on Nipissing this morning for a ride. Fish Bay is clear and Hunters Bay will open up in a day or two.
Maverick Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 Beauty day up here today. Lots of blue out there now. Still lots of ice but there's hope.
Joeytier Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 Took a quick scoot over to the Kipawa launch to see how the lakes looking...
Roy Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 Lookin' good Joey. That must be a beauty ramp to watch during "rush hour".
kickingfrog Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Kempenfelt bay was completely ice free as far as I could see this am.
BillM Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Looks like I actually might make the pike opener on Gbay after all!
irishfield Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Midland Harbour was still full of ice yesterday.. even after the icebreaker left.
BillM Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Midland Harbour was still full of ice yesterday.. even after the icebreaker left. Satellite photos show lots of open water around Honey Harbour. Unless that's all crappy ice.
irishfield Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 The channel at the Delawana was opening way back the last time I went flying.. so yah it could very well be open all through there in the current from the Squash..

fishnsled Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Bill, what's your best source of satellite images? I think most are using this. http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/region_map.html
Parnelly Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Wish I had one of those ice breakers... Looks like we might need it for Temagami May long weekend.
irishfield Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Ice hasn't even pulled away from shore or the boat ramp at Temagami Marine as of today. My neighbour was sledding down the lake as of last night..... that said, it will be gone by the 17th. Probably a few bergs floating around.. but it will be gone.

My aunt lives on Bear Island, we spoke with her today, she said much of the same, still lots of ice but will be gone by the long weekend. My fingers are crossed to say the least.
irishfield Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 For sure Joey... they'll be cruising the top 10 feet ! Here's a shot from Temagami Marines "boat launch" this afternoon...
4x4bassin Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Just got a report from the Parry Sound area and the ice is melting fast and with all this rain coming this week expect open water on inland lakes by this weekend !
