BillM Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 (edited) Northern Ontario is great for zero light pollution and clear skies. Took advantage of that last week on our fishing trip to setup the tripod and play around a bit. These are straight out of the camera. Still have some cleaning up to do, but I've got a pretty good base to start with. Joey Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Great shots Bill. I set my camera up last night for the meteor shower, got it all ready, took couple test shots, then waited until after midnight as they said that was the best time, opened the back door and it was raining I then went to bed!!! I'll try again. You going to try for some meteors?
BillM Posted August 10, 2013 Author Report Posted August 10, 2013 Joey, I didn't know there was a meteor shower! I'll definitely be out! Thanks for the head up
danc Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Those are awesome Bill. I did a little star gazing while I was out there too, but didn't pull out the camera.
BillM Posted August 10, 2013 Author Report Posted August 10, 2013 Here's an edit I spent some time on today.
Joey Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Almost looks like there is a meteor in that one!!! Great edit!!
BillM Posted August 11, 2013 Author Report Posted August 11, 2013 I'm guessing it's a satellite. Really easy to spot them in the clear skies up north!
fishindevil Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 amazing bill !!!!! ...very cool pics man
MJL Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Fantastic photos Bill...Definitely getting the urge to head away from the city to get some shots like those
Twocoda Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Amazing shots Bill....love the edit too...would make an awesome blow up...clouds moved in up here but looking at the satelite it might clear out for the meteor shower tonight ...fingers crossed...
spincast Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 awesome shots. Wish I had stayed out longer when I was up there. Out of curiosity, roughly what time was it wen you shot those?
BillM Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 I think those shots were taken around 12:30am or so...
Whopper Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I tried to capture the same shot only I was further east. My shot didn't turn out so good. Friday and Saturday's night sky was brilliant. Nice shots thank for sharing!
BillM Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 I think I had two good nights to shoot, the rest were very overcast.
ROOK Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 for those who really didn't know there were ANNUAL meteors in early august ............... http://stardate.org/nightsky/meteors NOW get out and start taking some pics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rook
adempsey Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Nice photos! I am always amazed at what people can accomplish with a camera these days. Some of the images people are taking with telescopes and CCD imagers are simply astounding.
davierooney Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Great pics there Bill, excellent.
