Hey guys. I have recently got into dropshotting for bass and I wanted to know what you guys like to use for them

I was particularly interested in the baits you guys use

I was also interested in the rod, reel, and line setups you guys prefer

Thanks in advance guys!!!

I like to drop shot 3in senkos for smallies, wacky rigged.. The best part about dropshotting, is you can put pretty much anything down there you want :)

Agreed. You can go from ultra natural all the way to 60's psychedelic.

my favorite drop shot bait is a x-zone slammer, nose hooked in open water and texas style in weeds, second up are berkly gulp minnows and leeches.

as for tackle i use 15lb power pro main line a small spro steelhead swivel and 8-12 lb seagar flouro, hooks i prefer owner.

rod; 7'2" drop shottin special carrot stix on a shimano stella reel

Roboworms and cross tail shads for lures. Size 1 hooks, I believe their gamakatsu. 7lb sunline line.

I use a nrx dsr822 and a stella fe. Awesome setup. But costly.

Agree with the posters above, any worm like soft plastic will work. Weight depends on the depth your fishing. I used my daiwa s o l and a ml action rod which worked well

I tried slammers for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and the smallies jumped all over them:clapping:

Doing it again tomorrow. They cant seem to get enough of them.Drop shot with the bait about a foot off the bottom.

I'm another Slammer fan. They were designed specifically for drop shotting. They're excellent baits.

Work awesome through the ice for lakers as well.

Sorry Rolly, forgot to mention i'm using a 7'2" Med Crucial with a Stradic 2500FJ. So far my best success has been with 20lb Power Pro with 15lb Seaguar Flouro Leader, size 1 and 1/0 Trokar drop shot hooks and 1/4oz - 1/2oz ball weights in LSC and 3/8oz - 1/2oz pencil weights in SCR. Seems too heavy with the leader but so far has worked out quite well.

if we get out before the classic you can take it for a spin.

Xzone Slammers HANDS DOWN.

The "HammerShad" is a Slammer wanna-be.

This is a little off topic but how has everyone been making out with swammers?

Amazing! Been hammering Walleye and bass all year on them.

As mentioned above, they are also KILLER through the ice for lakers.

Slammers are mint, tried and true.

I strated using the Reins Bubble Shaker to mix things up. Love them, but pricy. Getting quite the buzz on the big ponds too.

stupid question but drop shooting means casting and wating for a bite?

Dropshotting is a technique that has become extremely popular for bass (smallmouth in particular).

It has the weight below the hook so the weight stays in contact with the bottom and the bait is suspended up the line at whatever leader length you want. (typically 8"-24" off bottom).

Here's an example:
